Abstract

As an effort to create an active, fun, and productive learning atmosphere so that students can be equipped with strong critical thinking skills that are ready to be applied in everyday life, this research was conducted in class IV of Al-Chusnaini Islamic Elementary School Sidoarjo involving 28 students as subjects. The research process took place in two cycles, each of which consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through quantitative analysis using observation, tests, and documentation. The tests given measured problem solving skills in Indonesian language subjects, while observations were made to monitor the learning process. The independent variable in this study is the Problem Based Learning model, while the dependent variable is students' critical thinking skills. The results showed a significant increase, with the average value of students' critical thinking skills increasing from 74.32 in the first cycle to 94.75 in the second cycle. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the application of the Problem Based Learning model is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills on the material of fact and opinion sentences in class IV of Al-Chusnaini Islamic Elementary School Sidoarjo.

Abstract

This research examines how the use of learning media influences students' academic performance. A quasi-experimental design utilizing a quantitative approach was applied. The study utilized the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The study involved two groups: an experimental class that utilized comic media created with Storyboard That, and a control class that followed traditional teaching methods for comparison. The study utilized a reliable and validated achievement test, administered as both a pretest and a posttest. The findings demonstrated a notable disparity in the learning outcomes between students in the experimental group and those in the control group, supported by a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.023 ≤ 0.05. The average learning score in the experimental class increased significantly from 34.60 to 84.25, while the control class's average rose from 37.39 to 74.72. These findings demonstrate that the application of comic-based learning media using Storyboard That positively influences the improvement of students' learning outcomes.

Abstract

Kemampuan numerasi matematika merupakan aspek penting dalam pendidikan matematika yang memungkinkan siswa untuk memahami, menerapkan, dan mengomunikasikan konsep matematika dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Namun, masih banyak tantangan yang dihadapi siswa dalam mengembangkan keterampilan numerasi matematika yang baik. Salah satu alternatif yang dapat digunakan adalah penerapan model pembelajaran Numbered Head Together (NHT). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan model pembelajaran Numbered Head Together (NHT) terhadap keterampilan numerasi matematika siswa kelas IV SD Baketor. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampel terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Kelas eksperimen terdiri dari 20 siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran Numbered Head Together (NHT) dan kelas kontrol terdiri dari 20 siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif. Instrumen penelitian adalah tes kemampuan numerasi matematika yang telah diuji validitas, reliabilitas, tingkat kesukaran, dan daya diskriminatifnya. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi uji normalitas, homogenitas, dan uji-t. Analisis deskriptif menunjukkan peningkatan skor rata-rata kelas eksperimen dari 36,6 menjadi 70,5. Uji inferensial (uji-t sampel independen) menghasilkan t = 8,087 > t = 2,024 (α = 0,05). Hasil menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan dalam kemampuan numerasi matematika antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, dengan kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan model pembelajaran Numbered Heads Together (NHT) memiliki kemampuan numerasi yang lebih baik. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh penggunaan media Simple Booklet terhadap keterampilan bertanya siswa pada mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS) di SD Sanggar Belajar Pandan, Malaysia. Media Simple Booklet berfungsi sebagai sarana pembelajaran yang mengombinasikan teks dan ilustrasi secara ringkas serta menarik, sehingga memudahkan peserta didik dalam memahami materi sekaligus meningkatkan keberanian mereka dalam mengajukan pertanyaan. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode observasi. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 12 siswa kelas V, yang terdiri dari 8 siswa laki-laki dan 4 siswa perempuan. Data dikumpulkan melalui pre-test dan post-test yang dilaksanakan sebelum dan sesudah penerapan media Simple Booklet. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji validitas, uji normalitas, dan uji hipotesis melalui paired sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh signifikan antara penggunaan media Simple Booklet dan peningkatan keterampilan bertanya siswa, dengan nilai signifikansi (Sig. 2-tailed) sebesar 0,000 < 0,05. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa penggunaan Simple Booklet efektif dalam mengembangkan kemampuan siswa untuk bertanya, berpikir kritis, serta berpartisipasi aktif dalam proses pembelajaran IPAS. Dengan demikian, Simple Booklet dapat dijadikan alternatif media pembelajaran yang inovatif, menarik, dan efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan bertanya pada siswa sekolah dasar.

The digital era demands a comprehensive transformation in the educational system, including in the subject of Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This article aims to evaluate the curriculum and instructional practices of PAI within the context of the digital era from an Islamic education perspective, focusing on: (1) the adaptation of the PAI curriculum to digital learning needs, (2) technology-based PAI learning practices, and (3) the main challenges and recommendations for improvement. The research employs a qualitative-descriptive approach through library research, analyzing scientific publications, educational regulations, and recent literature from the past four years. The findings reveal that although the PAI curriculum has begun to incorporate digital components and online learning media, several implementation gaps remain, such as limited digital literacy among teachers, unequal access to technology, and insufficient systematic integration of Islamic values within digital learning platforms. Technology-based PAI learning has proven effective in enhancing student motivation and accessibility; however, challenges related to access disparity, moral development, and character formation remain significant. The study concludes that the evaluation of the PAI curriculum and learning in the digital era must emphasize synergy between technology and Islamic values, ensuring that digitalization not only modernizes learning but also strengthens students’ spiritual, moral, and Islamic character. Abstract

Abstract This study explores the application of learning theories, behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, and humanism, in the development of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum as an effort to create an effective and meaningful Islamic learning process. Using a qualitative library research approach, this paper examines how these theories contribute to enhancing students’ motivation, understanding of religious values, and character formation. The findings indicate that behaviorism supports the cultivation of discipline and positive habits through reinforcement and habituation; cognitivism emphasizes structured thinking and rational understanding of Islamic teachings; constructivism encourages students to actively build knowledge through experience, discussion, and reflection; and humanism focuses on personal growth and self-actualization in harmony with spiritual and social development. Integrating these theories into the PAI curriculum promotes more contextual, student-centered, and value-oriented learning. However, implementation still faces several challenges, such as limited teacher understanding of modern learning approaches, insufficient learning resources, and an assessment system that prioritizes cognitive outcomes over holistic development. Therefore, teacher training, innovative pedagogy, and comprehensive evaluation are needed to optimize the application of learning theories in Islamic education.

Abstract

This study was focused on analyzing the essence, principles, and foundations that serve as the basis for developing the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum through a review of recent literature. The method employed was library research, conducted by examining a range of scientific journals and books published within the last 5–10 years. Based on the findings, it was identified that: (1) the essence of the PAI curriculum is grounded in theological foundations derived from the Qur’an and Sunnah, and is directed toward adapting to the demands of the 21st century; (2) the principles of curriculum development were found to emphasize contextual relevance, value integration, competency achievement, and flexibility in implementation; and (3) the foundations of curriculum development encompass philosophical, sociological, psychological, as well as technical and political dimensions of education. The reviewed literature also revealed that the implementation of the PAI curriculum still faces several challenges, such as the suboptimal readiness of teachers, the limited availability of adaptive teaching materials, and the need to integrate 21st-century skills into the learning process. Based on these findings, it is recommended that teacher capacity be strengthened through continuous training, the development of teaching materials based on local contexts and Islamic values from the Qur’an and Sunnah, and the enhancement of cross-stakeholder collaboration to ensure the relevance and effectiveness of the PAI curriculum implementation. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Learning Management System (LMS) in enhancing students’ independence and learning outcomes in the digital era by employing a literature-based Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach. The applied CAR model emphasizes a reflective cycle consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation stages in the use of LMS as a learning tool. This approach was chosen because it allows for a systematic examination of the learning process through the synthesis of findings from previous studies. The results indicate that the consistent implementation of LMS effectively fosters students’ autonomy in managing their learning activities, increases intrinsic motivation, and improves academic performance through structured and interactive learning experiences. Furthermore, the study reveals that the effectiveness of LMS implementation is significantly influenced by teachers’ digital competence, the relevance of instructional design, and adequate institutional support. Therefore, LMS has the potential to serve as a strategic instrument in promoting adaptive, independent, and sustainable learning across various levels of education.

Abstract

This study aims to identify key challenges in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and examine them through Paulo Freire’s critical pedagogy. Using a literature review method, the study analyzes recent empirical findings related to assessment practices, teachers’ administrative workload, the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Project (P5), and teacher readiness. The results show four major issues: unbalanced assessment practices reinforcing banking education, the dehumanization of teachers through excessive administrative demands, the procedural reduction of P5, and the gap between curricular ideals and teachers’ practical capacity. The study concludes that these challenges are structural and require comprehensive support, including training, administrative simplification, and the strengthening of dialogic and reflective pedagogical practices to ensure that the Merdeka Curriculum aligns with its humanistic and transformative goals.

Abstract

The phenomenon of weakening faith and declining Islamic character among the younger generation of Muslims in the era of globalization and digitalization indicates that the process of internalizing faith values ​​in education has not been optimal. This condition demands a renewal in faith learning that is not solely oriented towards knowledge but also emphasizes role models as a means of developing students' spirituality and morals. This study aims to explain the values ​​of faith education and Islamic character development through the application of the exemplary method within the concept of Al-Walā’ wa Al-Barā’ as explained in the book Tarbiyatul Aṭfāl by Sheikh Ra’fat Farīz Shalabī. The model used is the exemplary method (uswah hasanah), as this method is considered the most effective in instilling faith values ​​through concrete examples in the behavior, speech, and attitudes of educators that align with Islamic teachings. In the context of Al-Walā’ wa Al-Barā’, this method encompasses two important aspects: fostering loyalty to Allah, the Prophet, and the Muslims (Al-Walā’), and instilling an attitude of avoiding values ​​that conflict with Islam (Al-Barā’). This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach through a literature review, analyzing classical and contemporary Islamic educational texts and literature. The results show that the exemplary method based on the concept of Al-Walā’ wa Al-Barā’ can strengthen understanding of the creed, foster commitment to faith, and shape a resilient Islamic character amidst the moral challenges of the modern era.
