Abstract

Digital transformation is crucial for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to improve business management effectiveness and competitiveness in the digital economy. However, most MSMEs still rely on manual transaction recording and inventory management, leading to operational constraints such as data entry errors, delays in preparing sales reports, and difficulties with real-time inventory monitoring. This community service activity aims to implement a web-based management information system to support sales monitoring and inventory management at Lasari Kopi MSME in Makassar City. The novelty of this activity lies in integrating sales monitoring, automated transaction recording, and real-time inventory management into a single web-based dashboard tailored to the operational needs of small-scale MSMEs. The implementation method uses an implementative-participatory approach through the stages of identifying partner needs, system development, application implementation, user training, and system evaluation. The evaluation was conducted using Black Box Testing and the System Usability Scale (SUS), with 15 respondents, including business owners and MSME employees. The implementation results show that all system features function as intended, with no functional errors. Furthermore, the usability evaluation achieved a SUS score of 89.4, which is considered Excellent. The system implementation also successfully improved business operational efficiency by accelerating the transaction recording process from an average of 4–5 minutes to 1–2 minutes and improving the accuracy of real-time inventory monitoring. Thus, the implementation of a web-based management information system has proven to support the digital transformation of MSMEs by improving administrative effectiveness, operational efficiency, and more integrated and sustainable business data management.

Abstract

The growing demand for transparent, accurate, and participatory data governance in secondary education has exposed limitations in conventional alumni data management practices in many senior high schools, particularly those that rely on manual records or fragmented digital files. This article reports on the design and implementation of a web-based alumni data management information system developed as a community service-based applied study to support institutional efficiency and alumni engagement. The system development process was informed by a needs assessment involving school administrators and alumni, with data collected through direct observation, semi-structured interviews, and questionnaires. System functionality was evaluated using Black Box Testing to verify compliance with predefined operational requirements. The implementation involved a single senior high school as the institutional partner, with administrative users and alumni as the primary system users. Functional testing results confirmed that all core modules, authentication, alumni data management, information dissemination, and data reporting, operated as intended without critical errors. The system enabled real-time data updating and reduced administrative dependency on physical presence, indicating improved operational efficiency and data accessibility. From a broader perspective, this study contributed a replicable community-oriented model for implementing alumni information systems in secondary education, demonstrating how web-based platforms can strengthen institutional alumni interactions and support digital transformation agendas across diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

Strengthening innovation within local craft communities requires mentoring approaches that encourage experimentation using accessible materials. This community-based training program was conducted in collaboration with Barata Sena Woodcraft, a small-scale enterprise in Surakarta employing eight local craftsmen. The activity aimed to introduce burning and wall-painting techniques as an alternative approach to enhancing the visual effects of antiques on wooden products. The program adopted a participatory model consisting of needs identification, technical demonstrations, guided practice, and reflective discussions. Participants were directly involved in wood preparation, controlled burning, and the application of layered wall paint to explore variations in texture and color intensity. Observational records and participant reflections indicate that 6 of 8 craftsmen (75%) perceived the technique as easy to integrate into their daily workflow. In contrast, seven participants (87.5%) reported increased confidence in experimenting with alternative finishing materials. The training also encouraged collaborative learning and creative exploration, contributing to product diversification and improved aesthetic value. These findings suggest that contextualized mentoring activities can support community empowerment by bridging traditional craftsmanship with adaptive finishing practices that remain feasible within small-scale production settings.

Abstract

Public services in local government procurement units often face issues with queue order and uncertain service times due to reliance on manual processes, which reduces service efficiency and user satisfaction. This condition was observed in the Goods and Services Procurement Work Unit (UKPBJ) of the Pangkep Regency, where service processes remain conventional and lack information system support. This community service activity focused on implementing a web-based queue system integrated with socialization and assistance with system use for the public and service officers. A participatory approach was used, with stages of partner needs analysis, system design and implementation, and impact evaluation, using both qualitative and quantitative methods. Quantitative data were collected from 17 respondents, consisting of six UKPBJ employees and eleven community service users, then analyzed using descriptive statistics. The evaluation results showed an increase in perceptions of queue order, clarity of service information, and certainty of service times, with an average score in the very good category (score > 4.3). In addition, service documentation became more systematic and transparent, supporting data-based decision-making at the institutional level. The contribution of this activity lies in strengthening the technology-based community service model that emphasizes real-world application and social assistance, making it replicable in similar public service units across local government contexts, including developing countries.

Abstract

Bullying in migrant school settings presents particular challenges due to limited access to protection services, the sensitivity of reporters' identities, and weak case documentation mechanisms. This situation was observed at the Indonesian School in Kota Kinabalu (SIKK), Malaysia, which serves children of Indonesian Migrant Workers, where a manual reporting system tends to discourage reporters and delay follow-up. This community service activity developed a web-based bullying reporting system using a Rapid Application Development (RAD) approach, including needs assessment, UML modeling, application development, user training, and evaluation using Black Box Testing and a Likert-based questionnaire. Participants included students, educators/mentors, and school coordinators involved in the reporting process. Descriptive-analytical analysis was conducted of system functional data and user perceptions. The implementation resulted in an application that met specifications, with an average feasibility of 87.7% in the very feasibility category, indicating improved documentation regularity and transparency in the case-handling process. This implementation experience provides a conceptual contribution to educational technology-based community service practices by offering an adaptive digital reporting model for Indonesian schools abroad and in cross-border educational contexts, thereby expanding the global discourse on information system integration in student protection.

Abstract

The lack of structured digital literacy mentoring remains a challenge for youth communities in semi-urban Pakistan, despite increasing access to mobile devices. This situation has implications for low levels of targeted digital communication skills, critical information evaluation, and responsible online interaction practices. A community-based training program was conducted at a youth center in Lahore with 28 participants aged 16–22 years to strengthen practical digital competencies while encouraging social participation. The program was implemented through a participatory approach that included initial needs discussions, guided practice workshops, and collaborative reflection sessions focused on digital communication, media ethics, and simple content production for community activities. Data were collected through observation notes, reflective feedback, and pre- and post-program questionnaires, and then analyzed using descriptive comparisons enriched with thematic interpretation. During the program, participants demonstrated increased confidence in using online collaborative tools and a tendency toward more structured communication. These changes were accompanied by a stronger awareness of digital responsibility in social interactions. Although conducted on a limited scale, this experience provides an overview of contextual digital literacy training practices and has the potential to serve as a reference for developing technology-based youth empowerment models across various global communities.
