Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of e-learning in enhancing teaching and learning interactions in higher education. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with lecturers and students, online classroom observations, and analysis of learning documents. The results indicate that e-learning increases learning flexibility, lecturer engagement, and the use of interactive media, which overall enhances the quality of interaction and student cognitive engagement. Although interaction between students is still limited, the implementation of pedagogical strategies that support collaboration and social communication can optimize the online learning experience. These findings confirm that the success of e-learning depends on the combination of technology, teaching strategies, and student motivation, making e-learning an effective pedagogical transformation in the digital era.

Abstract

This study investigates the adoption of e-learning and its impact on teaching–learning interactions in the digital era. Using a quantitative survey design, data were collected from 120 university students to measure the influence of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, teacher presence, peer interaction, and cognitive engagement. The results indicate that perceived usefulness and teacher presence significantly shape students’ learning experiences, while perceived ease of use plays a supportive role. Conversely, peer interaction and cognitive engagement showed weaker effects, suggesting that online learning practices remain predominantly teacher-centered. The findings highlight that effective e-learning adoption requires not only adequate technological infrastructure but also strong pedagogical strategies and active instructor involvement. This study emphasizes that e-learning adoption should be viewed as a pedagogical transformation rather than solely a technological shift, with implications for universities, educators, and policymakers seeking to optimize digital education.

Abstract

This research explores the Economics material available on the Quipper Indonesia YouTube channel and examines its function as a learning media for senior high schools within the Merdeka Curriculum. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the research analyzed video content in the Economics playlist by comparing it with curriculum standards and learning objectives. Data were collected through observation, video review, and document analysis of government-issued textbooks and syllabi. The findings show that Quipper Indonesia provides Economics material that aligns with topics in high school, such as introduction to economics, markets, economic growth, monetary policy, accounting, and international trade. Although not all curriculum content is fully represented, the videos offer clear explanations, engaging visuals, and contextual examples that support students’ understanding. This demonstrates the channel’s potential as an effective complementary resource in Economics learning. The research concludes that Quipper Indonesia can be integrated into classroom practice, providing teachers with relevant digital media to enrich learning.

Abstract

This study provides a comparative examination of teacher education programs in Indonesia and Singapore, focusing on their structures, policies, and practices that shape teacher preparation. Using a qualitative comparative approach, it analyzes policy documents, secondary data, and prior studies to understand how both countries develop their teaching workforce. Indonesia has implemented major reforms to improve teacher qualifications, promote continuous professional development, and reduce regional disparities, yet it still struggles with uneven implementation, limited resources, and weak quality assurance. Conversely, Singapore maintains a centralized and cohesive system under the National Institute of Education (NIE), integrating recruitment, training, and career progression with national education goals. Its program emphasizes selective entry, mentorship, and sustained professional learning, positioning teaching as a high-status profession. The analysis suggests Indonesia could adopt aspects of Singapore’s structured model especially in teacher preparation, professional development, and policy alignment while tailoring them to its socio-cultural and regional diversity. The study enriches discussions on teacher education reform and provides policy insights for improving the quality and equity of teacher training systems.

Abstract

Indonesia’s remarkable linguistic diversity presents both significant opportunities and challenges for the education system. With more than 700 local languages coexisting alongside Bahasa Indonesia and English, language education policies must simultaneously promote national cohesion, global readiness, and cultural continuity. This study examines how these policy orientations are enacted in multilingual classrooms, focusing on the mismatch between official expectations and everyday instructional realities. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were obtained through policy document analysis, classroom observations, and interviews with teachers, students, and school administrators across two provinces with different multilingual profiles. The findings reveal a persistent gap between policy ideals and practice. Although multilingualism is explicitly acknowledged in national regulations, classroom instruction remains heavily dominated by Bahasa Indonesia, English is restricted to its subject domain, and local languages are rarely utilized. Teachers often employ code-switching to facilitate comprehension, but such practices are improvised rather than pedagogically structured. Students appreciate flexible language use and value their local languages, yet view English as more beneficial for future academic and economic opportunities. These results indicate that multilingual resources are present within schools but remain underutilized. For policies to translate into meaningful multilingual education, teacher support, appropriate learning materials, and more inclusive assessment models are required to recognize and leverage students’ full linguistic repertoires.

Abstract

Early childhood is a crucial phase for establishing the foundations of lifelong learning, yet the effectiveness of developmental approaches in Indonesia’s kindergartens remains limited in research. This study investigates how developmental education supports children’s cognitive growth in Jakarta, focusing on literacy, numeracy, working memory, and language development. Using a mixed-methods design, standardized cognitive assessments were combined with observations and interviews with teachers and parents. The sample involved 200 kindergarten children from ten schools representing diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Results show notable cognitive gains over one academic year, particularly in literacy and language abilities, while improvements in working memory were smaller but still meaningful. However, socioeconomic disparities were visible, with children in higher-SES schools benefiting from richer learning environments. Observational data revealed that although play-based and child-centered activities were widely applied, rote instruction remained common in numeracy lessons. Teachers and parents generally supported developmental approaches, yet many parents emphasized early English learning, reflecting societal pressures. Overall, findings indicate that developmental education can enhance school readiness, but its benefits are unevenly distributed. Strengthening teacher capacity, improving resources in low-SES schools, and aligning expectations with parents are necessary to ensure more inclusive and equitable early childhood education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Moral education plays a vital role in shaping students’ character and ethical participation in society. This study investigates how philosophical approaches virtue ethics, duty-based ethics, and care ethics are implemented in Indonesian secondary schools. A qualitative multiple case study design was employed, involving interviews with teachers, students, and administrators, classroom observations, and document analysis across four schools in Jakarta. The study found that public schools emphasize virtue ethics, private schools adopt duty-based ethics, and faith-based schools often combine or focus on care ethics. These philosophical orientations influenced the teaching strategies used in schools, including storytelling, case studies, rule enforcement, and service learning. Students reported higher engagement with methods involving experiential learning. However, challenges such as parental pressure for academic performance, limited resources in public schools, and value conflicts in multicultural classrooms hindered the effective implementation of moral education. The study concludes that a blended approach, incorporating elements of virtue, duty, and care ethics, offers a more inclusive and effective framework for moral education. This approach prepares students for responsible citizenship in a pluralistic society and provides a foundation for future research on moral education in diverse contexts.

Abstract

Psychological well-being plays a pivotal role in shaping students' academic performance, yet its impact within Indonesian high schools remains underexplored. This study aims to investigate the relationship between psychological well-being and academic success, with a focus on the effectiveness of counseling programs. A mixed-methods approach was employed, involving quantitative assessments of academic performance and psychological well-being, alongside qualitative interviews with students, counselors, and teachers. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between psychological well-being and academic performance, with self-acceptance and personal growth being the most influential dimensions. Counseling programs were found to significantly enhance students’ emotional regulation, stress management, and interpersonal skills, which in turn positively impacted their academic outcomes. However, challenges related to the accessibility and duration of counseling sessions were noted, suggesting that increased resources and better integration of these services within the school system are needed. This study highlights the crucial role of psychological support in improving both students' mental health and academic performance. It contributes to the broader understanding of how school-based counseling programs can be optimized to support students’ overall development. Future research should focus on the long-term effects of counseling programs and explore the most effective interventions to support students' psychological well-being in the academic context.

Abstract

The Career Literacy Strengthening Activities for 12th Grade Students through Training and Career Information Services at SMA Negeri 1 Paya Pasir were conducted as a form of community service aimed at increasing students' awareness, understanding, and career readiness ahead of graduation. The background of this activity stems from students' low understanding of their potential, further educational pathways, and job prospects that match their interests and abilities. The activities were carried out through a participatory approach using interactive training methods and career information services, presented in the form of discussions, simulations, and self-reflection. The implementation of this activity involved Guidance and Counseling teachers, lecturers, university students, and 12th-grade students as the main participants. The results of the activity indicate that students experienced improvements in career awareness, decision-making abilities, and self-confidence in determining their future direction. In addition, this activity also contributed positively to enhancing the quality of career guidance services at school. Nevertheless, the activity still has limitations in terms of implementation time and participant coverage. Therefore, it is recommended that similar programs be conducted continuously with adequate facility support and collaboration with external parties such as universities and the workforce. Overall, this activity successfully strengthened students' career literacy and serves as a strategic step in preparing a young generation that is independent, visionary, and ready to face future workforce challenges.
