Abstract

Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) memegang peran strategis dalam pembentukan karakter, moderasi beragama, dan literasi keagamaan peserta didik, terutama di tengah tantangan digitalisasi, pluralitas budaya, dan menguatnya formalisme beragama. Berbagai studi menunjukkan bahwa publikasi bertema Islamic Religious Education dalam dua dekade terakhir mengalami peningkatan tajam, tetapi penguatan fondasi metodologis belum sepenuhnya sejalan dengan lonjakan kuantitas riset, khususnya dalam hal pemilihan jenis dan desain penelitian yang sesuai dengan karakter PAI sebagai disiplin normatif-empiris. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan studi kepustakaan dan analisis bibliometrik terhadap 403 dokumen Scopus (1993–2025) bertema “Islamic Religious Education”. Data dianalisis menggunakan VOSviewer untuk memetakan tren dan klaster kata kunci, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan analisis isi guna mengidentifikasi ragam metode yang digunakan. Hasilnya, terpetakan dua puluh metode penelitian PAI (kualitatif, kuantitatif, mixed methods, PTK, R&D, historis, evaluatif, dan lain-lain) beserta definisi operasionalnya. Artikel ini menawarkan model konseptual pemilihan metode berbasis objek kajian, jenis pertanyaan penelitian, dan tujuan PAI, sehingga dapat menjadi panduan praktis bagi peneliti, guru, dan mahasiswa dalam merancang penelitian PAI yang lebih tepat, reflektif, dan berbasis bukti.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low student learning outcomes in Fiqh, particularly in the topic of Thaharah, which is caused by the use of conventional teaching methods that lack student engagement. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the learning outcomes of seventh-grade students at MTsN 2 Surakarta. This research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of 48 students divided into an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected through tests, interviews, and documentation, with instruments in the form of multiple-choice questions that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests and t-tests to examine the hypothesis. The results indicate a significant difference between the learning outcomes of the experimental and control classes, with the experimental class achieving higher scores. This finding demonstrates that the Problem Based Learning model is effective in improving Fiqh learning outcomes. Therefore, PBL can be used as an innovative learning alternative to enhance student engagement and understanding.

Abstract

Masuknya Islam di Pulau Jawa terjadi di tengah masyarakat yang masih dipengaruhi budaya Hindu-Buddha. Kondisi tersebut mendorong Walisongo menggunakan pendekatan dakwah yang damai dan menyesuaikan budaya lokal masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran seni budaya sebagai media dakwah Walisongo serta kaitannya dengan moderasi beragama. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi pustaka (library research) dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh dari buku, jurnal, dan artikel ilmiah yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Walisongo memanfaatkan seni budaya seperti wayang, gamelan, tembang, dan tradisi masyarakat sebagai sarana penyebaran Islam. Pendekatan tersebut terbukti efektif karena dilakukan secara toleran, persuasif, dan tanpa menghilangkan budaya lokal. Selain itu, metode dakwah Walisongo juga mencerminkan nilai moderasi beragama, seperti toleransi, sikap damai, dan penghormatan terhadap perbedaan. Dengan demikian, dakwah berbasis seni budaya yang dilakukan Walisongo relevan diterapkan dalam kehidupan masyarakat multikultural di Indonesia saat ini.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of humanity in the thought of Ibn Miskawayh and its relevance to the formation of moral character in contemporary Islamic educational philosophy. The background of this study is rooted in the moral crisis within modern education, which tends to emphasize cognitive aspects while neglecting character development. The study employs a qualitative approach using library research. Data were obtained from Ibn Miskawayh’s major work, *Tahdzib al-Akhlak wa Tathhir al-A‘raq*, as well as various supporting literature, including relevant books and scholarly articles. Data analysis employed content analysis through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results indicate that, according to Ibn Miskawayh, humans are rational and moral beings possessing the potential for rational, emotional, and sensual aspects of the soul, which must be balanced through moral education. Character formation is achieved through habit formation, self-control, and the development of moral virtues. These findings affirm that Ibn Miskawayh’s thought is relevant as a philosophical foundation for the development of Islamic education oriented toward intellectual, moral, and spiritual balance.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of TPA Al-Hidayah Sindon in supporting fiqh learning for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) students. The study is motivated by the importance of non-formal education in strengthening children’s religious understanding, especially in daily worship practices. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers and students of TPA Al-Hidayah Sindon. The results showed that TPA Al-Hidayah Sindon plays an important role in supporting fiqh learning through Qur’an reading and writing activities, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) materials, worship practices, and Islamic educational games. Learning activities are conducted every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with approximately 35 students aged 6–12 years. The learning methods applied are practice and habituation, which help students better understand worship procedures such as ablution, prayer, and daily supplications. In addition to improving fiqh understanding, the TPA also contributes to building children’s religious character through discipline, politeness, and religious activities. Therefore, TPA Al-Hidayah Sindon serves as an effective non-formal educational institution in supporting fiqh learning for MI students and strengthening Islamic education within the community.

Abstract

This article examines the nature of humans as pedagogical beings, focusing on fitrah, epistemic tools, and their relationship with learner development theory. The main problem addressed in this study is the tendency of educational practice to emphasize cognitive achievement while paying less attention to the holistic nature of humans, including moral, spiritual, emotional, and epistemic dimensions. This study aims to analyze the concept of humans as pedagogical beings, explain the role of fitrah and epistemic tools in the educational process, and describe their relevance to learner development. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method. Data were obtained from books, journal articles, and relevant previous studies, then analyzed using content analysis through identification, classification, comparison, and synthesis of concepts. The results show that humans are essentially beings who can be educated and can educate others. Human fitrah serves as the basic potential that must be preserved and developed through education. Epistemic tools, including senses, reason, heart, and intuition, function as means for acquiring, processing, and internalizing knowledge. These findings indicate that learner development should be understood holistically, not only through cognitive and psychological aspects, but also through moral and spiritual dimensions. The study concludes that education should be humanistic, integrative, and oriented toward the development of the whole person.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the learning program at TPA Masjid Al-Ilham Karanglo in improving children’s interest in learning the Qur’an. This research was motivated by the low interest of children in learning the Qur’an due to the influence of technological development, monotonous learning methods, and the lack of varied learning activities. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation and interviews. The research subjects consisted of TPA administrators, teachers from UKMI Nurul Ilmi UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, and students of TPA Masjid Al-Ilham Karanglo. The learning program was conducted three times a week, namely on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The activities included reading Iqro’ and the Qur’an, memorizing daily prayers, reviewing short surahs, educational videos, fun games, rewards, prayer recitation learning, and outbound activities. The results showed that the learning program at TPA Masjid Al-Ilham was quite effective in increasing children’s interest in learning the Qur’an. This was indicated by the increased enthusiasm, participation, and active involvement of students during the learning process. The use of interactive and enjoyable learning methods was able to create a more conducive learning atmosphere so that children became more motivated to learn the Qur’an. Although there were obstacles such as differences in reading abilities and the influence of gadget use, the learning program still contributed positively to children’s reading skills, memorization abilities, and religious character building.

Abstract

The dichotomy between religious knowledge and general knowledge remains a significant issue in contemporary Islamic education and epistemological discourse. This separation has created a fragmented understanding of knowledge, in which religious sciences are often associated only with ritual and spiritual matters, while general sciences are viewed as secular and detached from religious values. This study aims to examine the sources and nature of knowledge from the Qur’anic perspective and to critically analyze the dichotomy between religious and general sciences. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method. The data were collected through documentation by examining Qur’anic verses, tafsir literature, books on Islamic philosophy of science, and relevant journal articles. The data were analyzed using content analysis to identify key concepts, interpret meanings, and construct critical arguments. The findings show that knowledge in the Qur’an is rooted in revelation, reason, and empirical experience. These sources are not contradictory but complementary within a tawhidic framework. The nature of knowledge in Islam is not merely cognitive or technical, but also spiritual, ethical, and transformative. The study concludes that the dichotomy between religious and general sciences is inconsistent with the Qur’anic paradigm of knowledge. Therefore, Islamic education needs an integrative epistemological framework that connects revelation, reason, science, ethics, and human welfare.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) utilize ta'zir as an educational punishment instrument to develop the moral discipline of students (santri). This practice is grounded in the strong legitimacy of traditional caregiving within pesantren, yet its implementation often faces challenges regarding the boundary between disciplinary enforcement and perceptions of violence. This study aims to explain the empirical practices of implementing ta'zir, the dynamics of social relations formed within it, and its implications for religious education in pesantren. This research employs a pesantren caregiving study approach. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with administrators and students, and documentation analysis related to the internal regulations of the boarding school. The results of the field data analysis indicate that ta'zir is imposed for various concrete violations, such as tardiness, absence from mandatory activities, violations of etiquette, and possession of prohibited items. In practice, administrators communicate these punishments using the language of guidance, emphasizing responsibility and self-improvement. Meanwhile, students’ perceptions of ta'zir vary. Some students accept and internalize it as part of the educational process, while others feel psychologically and physically burdened by it. Theoretically, this article contributes to the sociology of Islamic education by demonstrating that ta'zir in pesantren functions as an effective mechanism of moral discipline legitimized by caregiving traditions. Its effectiveness depends on the consistent understanding and implementation of ta'zir as an educational instrument rather than an act of violence.

Abstract

Pembelajaran di TPQ selama bulan Ramadan memerlukan metode yang menarik agar santri tetap semangat mengikuti kegiatan belajar meskipun sedang berpuasa. Pendekatan fun learning menjadi salah satu metode yang dapat menciptakan suasana belajar yang lebih menyenangkan, aktif, dan interaktif bagi santri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan pendekatan fun learning terhadap antusiasme santri selama kegiatan Ramadan di TPQ Al-Karomah, Giriroto, Girimargo, Miri, Sragen. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan fun learning mampu meningkatkan antusiasme santri dalam mengikuti kegiatan Ramadan. Santri terlihat lebih aktif, percaya diri, dan semangat dalam mengikuti kegiatan membaca Iqra’ dan Al-Qur’an, setoran hafalan Al-Qur’an, hafalan surat pendek, doa dan hadis bersama, praktik salat, permainan edukatif Islami, menonton film kisah Islami, buka puasa bersama, hingga salat Maghrib berjamaah. Pemberian reward kepada santri dengan setoran hafalan terbanyak juga meningkatkan motivasi dan semangat belajar santri selama Ramadan. Dengan demikian, pendekatan fun learning dapat menjadi strategi pembelajaran yang efektif dalam menciptakan suasana belajar yang aktif, menyenangkan, dan mampu meningkatkan antusiasme santri di TPQ.
