Abstract

Background: One of the risk factors for bleeding is anemia. Anemia in pregnancy is a condition of the mother with a hemoglobin count of 11 gg/dL in the first and third trimesters or a hemoglobin count of 10.5 g/dL in the second trimester. One of the causes of postpartum hemorrhage is uterine atony. Uterine atony is one of the 5th leading causes of maternal death globally. Uterine atony can cause bleeding after the baby is born due to the failure of the uterine myometrial muscle fibers to contract and shorten. Methods: The type of research used is quantitative research with a cross-sectional design. The study population was all pregnant women who gave birth at Dr. Hospital. The total sampling technique was used to select 50 pregnant women at term (37-42 weeks of gestation) for this study. Analysis of univariate and bivariate data using the chi-square test. Results: Based on the results of the study, it was found that the proportion of anemia in pregnant women with postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony in Dr. Pirngadi Medan's 2017–2021 was 52.9% (18 respondents). The results of statistical tests obtained a p value of 0.004, which means that anemia in pregnant women has a significant relationship with postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the anemia variable in pregnant women is a variable associated with postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony in Dr. Pirngadi Medan in 2017–2021.

Abstract

Background : Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a new type of Coronavirus that is transmitted to humans that attacks the respiratory system and manifests as inflammation of the lung parenchyma. CT Scan can be used as an alternative diagnostic measure to find out the radiological picture of COVID19 patients. monocytes/macrophages can serve as reservoirs which, consequently, will serve as vectors of virus spread to other tissues, but this has not been proven in SARS-CoV-2. Inflammation is an important body mechanism to protect itself from foreign objects. During this process, cells release various proinflammatory cytotoxins, including active-phase proteins such as CRP (C-Reactive Protein) and fibrinogen. Then, the increase in fibrinogen levels further becomes a factor that increases the ESR. Research Objectives: To determine whether there is a relationship between CTScan Lung images and Monocyte Levels and ESR in SARS-CoV-2 patients. Research Methods: The type of research carried out is observational analytic measurement, with a cross sectional design the researcher makes observations or measurements of variables at certain times. Research results: the frequency distribution on CT-SCAN images of the lungs of SARS-CoV-2 patients was found to be the most GGO with a frequency of 22 people (38.6%) and the frequency distribution of monocyte and ESR levels in SARS-CoV2 patients obtained the highest levels of monocytes. in patients with SARS-CoV-2 is normal with a frequency of 35 people (61.4%) and the ESR level is normal with a frequency of 44 people (77.2%). In the analysis, there was a significant relationship between pulmonary CT-SCAN images on monocyte levels and ESR in patients with SARS-CoV-2 p-values = 0.022 and 0.003, and had a simultaneous and partial effect. Conclusion: there is a relationship between CT-SCAN images of the lungs of SARSCoV-2 patients and the levels of monocytes and ESR in the body.

Abstract

Background Recurrent Bell’s palsy is a rare condition that can affect the ipsilateral or contralateral to the affected side of the primary attack. There is still no consensus on treatment guidelines for recurrent Bell’s palsy. Therefore, we report a case of idiopathic recurrent contralateral facial palsy treated with autologous peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) transplantation. Case Presentation A 72-year-old man presented with the sudden onset of right facial weakness, which was contralateral to the affected side of the first episode of facial palsy. The weakness had progressed with difficulty in closing the right eye, drooling the water from the right side of the mouth, and chewing impairment which was consistent with House Brackmann grade IV or moderately severe facial nerve grading system. He had exposure to cold stimulation, and a history of hypertension. He was given G-CSF 10 ug/kg/day for 5 days to mobilize stem cells, followed by apheresis on the 5th day. He did not receive acupuncture treatment. He had a complete recovery in 3 weeks with House Brackmann grade I or normal function of facial nerve. Conclusion Peripheral blood stem cell transplantation had a beneficial effect on the complete recovery of this recurrent Bell’s palsy and provides a treatment strategy in patients with unilateral facial palsy.
