Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum promotes a flexible, student-centered, and contextually grounded approach to learning, requiring educators to adapt their teaching strategies accordingly. English teachers, in particular, often encounter challenges in translating these principles into practical and effective learning modules. To address this gap, a workshop was conducted with the aim of enhancing participants' competence in developing English teaching modules that are both competency-based and aligned with the core values of the Merdeka Curriculum. The workshop engaged 120 students from the English Education Study Program, specifically those in their fifth semester, as prospective educators who will soon enter the teaching profession. Activities during the workshop included presentations, group discussions, and hands-on module design tasks. Evaluation methods involved pre- and post-workshop questionnaires to assess participants’ understanding and improvement in module development skills. The results indicated a significant increase in participants' ability to conceptualize, structure, and design interactive modules that incorporate the Merdeka Curriculum’s emphasis on autonomy, relevance, and learner engagement. In conclusion, the workshop successfully equipped future English teachers with practical tools and pedagogical strategies to develop effective teaching materials, thereby supporting the broader goals of educational reform in Indonesia.

Abstract

Jubel Kidul Village in Lamongan Regency has a high prevalence of hypertension and diabetes mellitus. This is evidenced by the significant number of individuals purchasing antihypertensive and antidiabetic medications at local pharmacies and seeking treatment at healthcare centers for related complaints. This study aims to enhance public awareness of the importance of consistent medication adherence to reduce mortality associated with hypertension and diabetes mellitus. The community service employed educational interventions during the fasting month, focusing on proper medication use for hypertension and diabetes mellitus. These activities included guided counseling sessions and a final evaluation to assess the community’s level of understanding. Following the educational sessions and coaching, the final evaluation showed a marked improvement in participants’ knowledge compared to the pre-intervention assessment. Participants demonstrated comprehension and acceptance of the material delivered. The educational intervention effectively increased community knowledge regarding the correct use of medications during Ramadan, as evidenced by a significant rise in posttest scores. This suggests that targeted education can contribute to better health outcomes during the fasting period.

Abstract

Background: The lack of public awareness regarding proper medicine management contributes to irrational drug use and improper disposal, which can harm the environment, water sources, and ecosystems. Observations in Miru Village, Sekaran District, Lamongan Regency indicate that the community, particularly the elderly, has never received education on the principles of DAGUSIBU (Obtain, Use, Store, Dispose). Therefore, educating the public, especially the elderly, is essential to enhance their knowledge of safe and effective drug management. Objective: This initiative aims to improve the elderly’s understanding of how to obtain, use, store, and dispose of medicines properly. Method: Educational sessions were conducted using lectures, question-and-answer discussions, and visual aids including posters and brochures. These sessions took place at Pasadena Pharmacy, Miru. To assess the program’s effectiveness, participants completed pre-test and post-test assessments, along with satisfaction questionnaires. Results: Shows an increase in knowledge from pretest and posttest where the pretest results before the presentation of the material were only 20% then after the presentation of the material the posttest value increased to 95% until it reached 100%. In addition, the satisfaction of most participants expressed satisfaction with the presentation of the material that had been done. Conclusion: This community service program has proven to be effective in increasing public knowledge about DAGUSIBU. Improved understanding of proper medicine management can enhance public health and promote safer drug use, ultimately reducing the risks associated with improper medication practices.

Abstract

Botanical pesticides are naturally occurring chemicals derived from plant sources such as leaves, flowers, roots or seeds. This material has the potential as a more environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative to chemical pesticides. In general, residents in Mangaran Village, Mangaran District, Situbondo Regency work as farmers. In controlling pests and plant diseases, chemical pesticides are usually used to overcome them. The negative impact of using chemical pesticides is that pests will become increasingly resistant to the pesticides given, so stronger pesticides are needed the stronger the attacking pests. This resulted in an increasing number of chemicals in the crops that farmers planted which had an impact on the health of both farmers and consumers. The purpose of this socialization regarding vegetable pesticides is to increase knowledge regarding the manufacture of natural pesticides to control pests and diseases in plants. The socialization and training that was carried out received enthusiasm from farmers and those who attended the socialization were 26 farmers represented by each hamlet. The socialization results obtained are encouraging farmers to produce vegetable pesticides and reduce dependence on chemical pesticides

Abstract

Statistics education is a vital component of the learning process, particularly in fostering logical, analytical, and quantitative thinking skills. Within this context, critical thinking plays a crucial role. Critical thinking is defined as the ability to objectively analyze information, evaluate arguments, identify assumptions, and draw logical conclusions. The development of critical thinking skills in statistics education aligns closely with the demands of the 21st century. This seminar aims to positively impact educators and students, specifically high school teachers in Nganjuk Regency, through the subtopic "Critical Thinking in Bivariate Data Analysis Learning." This theme was selected due to its high relevance to contemporary needs and its potential to provide extensive insights for teachers regarding the importance of critical thinking in statistics education, especially bivariate data analysis. The seminar's objectives extend beyond providing technical knowledge, aiming also to cultivate a critical mindset among teachers. The seminar activities include preparatory stages, theoretical and practical approaches, case studies, and interactive sessions such as question-and-answer and feedback discussions designed to achieve the seminar’s primary goals. Throughout these phases, the seminar enhances teachers' understanding of the importance of raising awareness and developing students’ critical thinking skills in statistics education. Consequently, teachers can more effectively foster students' critical thinking abilities through statistics learning. Keywords: Critical Thinking; Bivariate; Learning; Community Service; High School
