Abstract

The main issue highlighted in this study is the suboptimal management and implementation of extracurricular activities in schools, resulting in the underutilization of their potential to develop students' soft skills. This study investigates the role of extracurricular activities in developing students’ soft skills, which are increasingly recognized as essential competencies for success in the 21st century. Grounded in the understanding that formal education often emphasizes cognitive learning while overlooking interpersonal and intrapersonal competencies, this research explores how extracurricular programs provide meaningful opportunities for holistic development. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving teachers, students, and school administrators. The analysis employed Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, covering data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal three major insights: first, extracurricular activities act as dynamic platforms for cultivating soft skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication, creativity, and resilience. Second, the implementation of these programs faces significant challenges, including limited resources, imbalanced participation, lack of professional training for facilitators, and time management constraints. Third, the success of extracurricular activities is strongly influenced by the active involvement of schools, teachers, parents, and communities, highlighting the importance of collaboration and strategic integration with real-life social issues. In conclusion, extracurricular activities are not merely complementary but serve as transformative tools for preparing students to face complex demands in academic, professional, and societal domains. The study recommends strengthening institutional support, enhancing teachers’ capacity, and fostering school–community partnerships to maximize the impact of extracurricular activities. By doing so, schools can ensure that students emerge as competent, empathetic, and future-ready individuals.

Abstract

The main problem in this research is how to strengthen the implementation of Islamic Religious Education so that it remains relevant and is able to shape the moral character and social concern of students amidst contemporary social changes influenced by globalization and digitalization. This study aims to analyze strategies for grounding Islamic Religious Education within social realities through a conceptual approach oriented toward integrating religious values with community life practices. The research employs a qualitative approach using a library research design that draws upon various scholarly sources, including books, journal articles, and relevant academic documents. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using descriptive-analytical methods involving data reduction, data presentation, and conceptual interpretation. The findings indicate that the implementation of Islamic Religious Education can be strengthened through contextualizing learning materials, reinforcing reflective-dialogical approaches, integrating digital and social literacy, applying social experience–based learning, promoting educators’ role modeling, strengthening universal humanitarian values, and implementing practice-based social evaluation. These strategies enable religious education to be understood not merely as the transfer of normative knowledge, but as a process of value internalization that influences social behavior. This study underscores the importance of developing adaptive, humanistic, and socially relevant approaches to religious education in response to modern societal developments.

Abstract

The main problem is that the integration of character education into classroom learning has not been implemented optimally, as many teachers still face challenges in consistently integrating character values into the teaching and learning process. This research aims to analyze teacher strategies in integrating character values into the learning process. The background of this study lies in the urgency of character education in schools, where teachers are expected not only to transfer knowledge but also to foster moral values among students. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, the research involved teachers, students, and school principals as key informants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model consisting of data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that teachers employ three main strategies in integrating character values: embedding values within the curriculum, implementing interactive and participatory learning methods, and habituating values through daily classroom activities. These strategies contribute significantly to developing students’ discipline, responsibility, respect, and cooperation. However, the study also highlights several challenges such as limited teacher competence, lack of institutional support, and insufficient parental involvement. The research emphasizes that effective character education requires comprehensive collaboration among teachers, schools, parents, and communities. It concludes that character-based learning is a strategic instrument for fostering students’ holistic development and promoting a more ethical and inclusive school culture.

Abstract

Cultural Arts and Crafts (SBdP) learning in elementary schools plays an important role in developing students' creativity through meaningful practical activities. The reality in the field shows that the art learning process often still focuses on explaining theory, so students' opportunities to explore and develop creative ideas are not yet optimal. This study aims to describe the implementation of the project-based method of making eco print tote bags, the process of developing students' creativity, as well as the impact of applying this method on students' creativity in SBdP learning at MI Az-Zahro Panunggalan. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type of research. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers and students in SBdP learning activities. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Research results indicate that the application of the project task method through eco-print tote bag making activities is able to create more active, collaborative, and creative learning. Students are directly involved in the process of exploring natural materials, designing motifs, as well as practicing the creation of artworks that promote the development of creative thinking skills. In addition, project activities also increase self-confidence, interest in learning, and the ability to collaborate among students in the learning process.

Abstract

The quality of education in Islamic elementary schools (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah) is highly dependent on the professionalism of educators, which in turn requires effective strategic management by school principals. to describe and analyze the formulation, implementation, and control of strategies in developing the professionalism of educators at MI KHR Ilyas Tanjungrejo Buluspesantren Kebumen. This study investigates the strategic management practices employed by the principal of MI KHR Ilyas Tanjungrejo, Kebumen, Central Java, Indonesia, in developing educator professionalism. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis from January to March 2025. Informants included the school principal, two teachers, and the school committee chair. The findings reveal three interconnected strategic management processes: (1) strategy formulation, encompassing vision-mission determination, SWOT analysis, and strategic planning through internal Teacher Working Groups (KKG), workshops, and professional training; (2) strategy implementation, involving motivational reinforcement and resource allocation, including performance rewards, seminar participation, and digital media integration; and (3) strategy control, through instructional supervision, peer observation, monitoring and evaluation by school supervisors, and mandatory teacher performance reporting. These strategic interventions resulted in measurable improvements in teacher pedagogical competence, instructional quality, and student academic achievement above the minimum competency standard. This study contributes to the growing literature on educational leadership and strategic management in Islamic educational institutions.
