Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe the existence of Tudang Sipulung for group guidance that used KIPAS Counseling for the Bugis Youth at Senior High School at Sidrap. This research used a qualitative approach with Triple Hermeneutic Analysis method. The data collection technique are Interview and literature studies as well as data validation which is achieved through data triangulation. The subjects of this study were four people, two people from public figure (culturalists) and two people from students (Bugis youth). The results showed that Tudang Sipulung is the ancestral heritage of the Sidrap’s Bugis Society which contains positive values in the deliberation to reach consensus. In the practice of guidance and counseling, Tudang Sipulung can be constructed and implemented as group guidance in the perspective of the KIPAS counseling model in serving the counselee or Bugis Youth. The cultural values of Tudang Sipulung that can be integrated with the KIPAS model counseling include the counselor’s self-positioning, discussion themes, attitude, and positive thinking techniques, as well as the special technique of KIPAS is KaDo-MUDAH, and up to the steps of the KIPAS Counseling model

Abstract

The Indonesian nation as a large nation consisting of various religions, ethnicities, and cultures, of course, deserves to have the aspiration to have a basic human philosophy paradigm based on Indonesian culture based on dialogue between the soul sciences that live in Indonesian human cognition. This study aims to present the concept of basic human philosophy in the teachings of Ki Ageng Suryomentaram. The research method uses Gadamerian hermeneutics in a qualitative approach. The collected data is then analyzed using Parts and Whole analysis and then checked the validity of the data through the stages of credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The results of the study describe human philosophy based on basic needs, essence, existence, and the structure of the human personality. The conclusion of the research refers to the basic human philosophy based on local wisdom for the science of guidance and counseling.

Abstract

Psychological well-being is an important aspect for students that needs to be considered in the current situation, which in fact many are faced with academic burnout. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the relationship between psychological well-being and student academic burnout. The research design used is correlation, with a research sample of 180 students. The sampling technique used is proportional random sampling. Collecting data using psychological well-being scale and academic burnout scale. The data analysis technique used is Pearson's product moment. The results showed that psychological well-being has a negative relationship with academic burnout. This means that the higher the psychological well-being of students, the lower their academic burnout. These findings can be used as a basis for universities to provide mental health services needed by students and lecturers needed to assist students in providing guidance and counseling services.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using real-life problems to improve novice counsellors' critical analytical thinking in humanistic counselling courses. The research method uses an experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The instrument used is a critical-analytical thinking scale. The research sample used a purposive sampling technique, which consisted of 84 students of the 2018 Guidance and Counseling UNY Study Program who took the Humanistic Counseling course. The samples were separated into experimental and control groups of 42 students. The pre-test and post-test data were analyzed using an independent sample t-test using SPSS Amos 25 software. The results show that the use of real-life problems in the Humanistic Counseling course was proven effective in improving students' critical-analytical thinking as novice counsellors. As a result, students are more stimulated to practice analyzing cases in various ways and can activate their cognitive complexity processes as novice counsellors.

Abstract

The transformation into online learning during Covid 19 pandemic induces culture shock for students, teachers, and parents. Consequently, students present less participation in online learning. One of the stakeholders capable of improving students’ learning engagement is the school counselor. This study aims to examine secondary school students’ learning involved in the guidance and counseling online program. In this study, we employed a descriptive-quantitative research method, then collected data using a survey method and questionnaire. As many as 293 secondary school students from Java, Indonesia, participated in this study. Further, the obtained data were analyzed using SmartPLS 3. Our analysis results suggested the presence of positive and significant effects of (1) family support on students’ learning engagement; (2) information self-efficacy and communication technology on students’ learning engagement; (3) ICT self-efficacy to students’ interaction with the learning material; (4) school support to students learning engagement; (5) students learning motivation to their learning engagement; (6) students interaction with learning material to their learning engagement; and (7) teachers’ performance to students interaction with the learning material. Meanwhile, teachers’ performance during online learning was observed to have no significant and positive impact on students’ learning engagement.
