Abstract

Plastic waste management in the school environment remains a fundamental issue that contributes to low levels of student awareness regarding the circular economy and the implementation of the School-Based Environmental Care and Culture Movement (Peduli dan Berbudaya Lingkungan Hidup di Sekolah/PBLHS). This community service program was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Bluto under the theme of an Eco-Entrepreneurship-Based PBLHS Movement through the implementation of Plastic Crusher technology and Augmented Reality (AR) learning media. The objectives of this program were to enhance students’ understanding, managerial skills, and participation in eco-entrepreneurship-based waste management. The methods employed included socialization, training, mentoring, and the direct application of appropriate technology and interactive learning media. The results indicate significant improvements: students’ understanding of the contribution of the circular economy increased from 20% to 100%, environmental participation rose from 15% to 85%, and students’ managerial skills reached 85%, marked by the establishment of an eco-entrepreneurship group formally authorized through a Principal’s Decree. In addition, one PBLHS implementation roadmap and one digital Business Model Canvas (BMC)-based business model document were developed. In conclusion, this program successfully enhanced students’ capacity in social and managerial aspects through the integration of appropriate technology and digital innovation, thereby supporting the development of a sustainable school culture grounded in circular economy principles and eco-entrepreneurship.

Abstract

This international collaboration Real Work Lecture (KKN) activity aims to introduce Indonesian cultural values to Indonesian migrant children at the At-Tanzil Lembah Jaya 2 Learning Studio, Malaysia. Nusantara culture has an important role in supporting the formation of children's identity and character, especially for those who live in multicultural environments and are far from the homeland. The implementation of the activity was carried out through a participatory approach with the introduction of folklore, regional songs, and traditional Indonesian arts and games that were adjusted to the age and characteristics of the students. In addition, the activities are also designed interactively so that children can be actively involved in each cultural learning session. The results of the activity showed that the children responded positively and enthusiastically during the activity, as well as experienced an increase in understanding of the values of togetherness, mutual cooperation, tolerance, and love for Indonesian culture. This activity shows that the introduction of archipelago culture can be an effective educational medium in supporting the formation of character, national identity, and a sense of pride as the next generation of the nation for Indonesian migrant children abroad.

Abstract

Generation Z is a productive demographic that has grown up in the digital era and is accustomed to the ease of digital financial transactions. However, their level of financial literacy remains relatively low. Data from the National Survey of Financial Literacy and Inclusion (OJK, 2022) shows that Indonesia’s financial literacy rate has only reached 49.68%. Limited financial management skills and a tendency toward consumptive behavior further contribute to Generation Z’s lack of understanding of proper financial management practices. This Community Service Programme (PkM) aims to improve young people’s comprehension of fundamental financial literacy concepts, financial planning, and the introduction of legal, needs-based investment, particularly among vocational high school students. The training guides participants in managing income, preparing budgets, distinguishing between needs and wants, and understanding investment instruments such as mutual funds and stocks. The PkM implementation consists of several stages, including an initial assessment of participants’ financial literacy, interactive training through lectures, quizzes, and group discussions, mentoring in developing personal financial plans, and outcome evaluation using pre-tests and post-tests. Evaluation results demonstrate a clear improvement in participants’ understanding of financial literacy and investment concepts. These findings indicate that interactive and application-based training methods are effective in increasing financial knowledge and awareness. Overall, the programme successfully achieved its objectives and positively influenced students’ financial knowledge and attitudes.

Abstract

This community service program was implemented to enhance the production and marketing of cassava chips by the Sahabat Tani Group in Lamea Village, Wewiku District, Malaka Regency. The main challenges faced by the partners were the use of manual slicers that produced uneven thickness, low capacity, and a risk of injury, as well as simple packaging methods that were not airtight, reducing product shelf life. To address these issues, the program introduced appropriate technologies, namely a semi-mechanical slicing machine and an electric sealer, supported by training in machine operation, packaging techniques, product labeling, and business management focused on production recording and digital marketing. The implementation method included observation, interviews, solution design, structured training, field mentoring, and participatory evaluation. The results showed an increase in production capacity from an average of 3-4 kg/day to 8-10 kg/day, improved product quality with uniform slices, extended shelf life and attractiveness through labeled packaging, and the initiation of production recording and social media based marketing. Participatory evaluation revealed that the program not only improved technical aspects but also enhanced the partners’ confidence, participation, and independence in sustainably developing their business.

Abstract

The implementation of training on preparing Science Process Skills (KPS) assessments for science teachers in Saparua and East Saparua was motivated by the low literacy and numeracy achievements recorded over the past three years. One of the strategic efforts to improve these competencies is through the integration of KPS in science learning, which requires teachers to design appropriate and effective assessments. This community service program (PKM) was conducted through three main stages, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation. During the preparation stage, observations and interviews were carried out with school principals and education area coordinators in Saparua and East Saparua Districts to identify teacher needs and technical requirements. The training activities were held at SMPN 16 Central Maluku in Waisisil Village with 27 participants and SMPN 28 Central Maluku in Tuhaha Village with 22 participants. The implementation stage began with a pre-test followed by material delivery and practical training sessions. The post-test results showed that participants’ average understanding reached 67.85 in Saparua and 68.38 in East Saparua. The gain test analysis in Saparua indicated that 37% of participants were in the low improvement category, 26% in the medium category, 15% in the high category, and 22% experienced a decline. In East Saparua, 36% were in the medium category, 27% in the low category, 14% in the high category, and 23% showed no improvement. Overall, the training successfully enhanced teachers’ understanding and skills in developing KPS-based assessments.

Abstract

The fraudulent investment is everywhere; therefore, society must be watchful. By following up on this situation, the efforts of other parties, such as the Indonesian Financial Authority and the campus, are needed to demonstrate that other legal investment alternatives remain available. As an inseparable part of the campus, lecturers must participate in community service to educate society. Furthermore, the lecturers from Maranatha Christian University visit Sukabumi to educate participants affiliated with BPK Penabur on the relevant subjects. To effectively measure their understanding, this community service uses the advanced multiple-choice questions on financial literacy by Lusardi (2007), distributed via a Google link before and after the materials are presented. As a result, the correct answer portion increases from 62.7193% to 73.4649%.

Abstract

Violence and bullying are social issues that still frequently arise among adolescents, both in schools and communities. Lack of knowledge about the forms, impacts, and prevention mechanisms of bullying means that such behavior is often considered normal and not immediately addressed. This community service activity aims to increase the understanding and awareness of adolescents, especially in the Karang Taruna "Bintang Timoer" community in Jetak Hamlet, Pule Village, regarding the importance of bullying prevention through an educational, participatory, and community-based approach. The implementation method includes counseling, interactive discussions, and case simulations that are expected to be able to pioneer positive behavior in the adolescent environment. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants regarding the definition, types, psychological and social impacts of bullying, and prevention strategies. Participants were also able to identify forms of behavior that constitute bullying and develop simple response steps that can be implemented within the youth organization in particular and the community in general. Evaluation through a post-activity questionnaire will show a significant increase in participants' understanding of anti-bullying. This activity is expected to be the first step in building.
