Abstract

Climate change poses a serious threat to food security in Indonesia, disrupting all pillars of the food system and increasing the vulnerability of agrarian communities. Top-down adaptation approaches are often ineffective, highlighting the need for a community-centered strategic framework. This study aims to conceptually analyze community empowerment strategies for enhancing food security in the face of climate change challenges. This research employs a qualitative method, utilizing a literature review approach to interpret various academic literature and policy documents. The analysis reveals that community empowerment is the key to building adaptive capacity from the grassroots level. Four key strategies are identified as the foundation for effective empowerment: (1) climate adaptation education; (2) local food diversification; (3) strengthening community institutions; and (4) innovation in climate-friendly agricultural technology. This study concludes that empowerment enables communities to become primary actors in creating a resilient food system. This holistic and participatory framework can serve as a guide for policymakers and practitioners in designing more effective and sustainable interventions to ensure national food security.

Abstract

Creative micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in supporting local economic development, particularly in tourism areas. Yamansari Village, Tegal Regency, has tourism potential that can be developed through distinctive local souvenir products. However, local MSMEs face several challenges, including limited production skills, lack of design innovation, and insufficient understanding of product quality and marketing. This community service program aims to enhance the capacity of creative MSMEs through training in the production of Yamansari tourism souvenirs with economic value and competitiveness. The implementation method includes identifying MSME needs, preparing training materials, conducting participatory training sessions, and providing mentoring and evaluation. The training focuses on improving technical skills in souvenir production, developing design creativity based on local wisdom, and introducing basic packaging and marketing strategies. The results show an increase in participants’ knowledge, skills, and motivation to produce more diverse and attractive souvenir products. The implications of this program include opportunities to increase MSME income and strengthen the tourism identity of Yamansari Village through the sustainable development of distinctive souvenir products.

Abstract

Silangjana Village in Buleleng, Bali, has natural tourism potential, one of which is the Candi Kuning Waterfall. The potential of Silangjana Village has not been balanced by structured educational tourism, village economic institutions, and low digital literacy and human resource capacity. The Impact Student Executive Board (BEM Berdampak) program has the main objective of increasing the capacity and empowerment of two target partners, namely the Lila Dharma Kerti Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) and the Dharma Kerthi Honey Bee Farmer Group, through the implementation of the innovative Eco-Art-Tech model. This model integrates environmental sustainability, namely Eco which refers to modern Trigona bee cultivation, Art which targets the creative economy with a program to recycle plastic waste into souvenirs, and Tech for digital systems supporting tourist attractions. The program's implementation methods include outreach, technical training, mentoring, and evaluation. Initial results show a significant increase in the knowledge and skills of Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) partners regarding source-based plastic waste management, as well as their ability to create various souvenir products such as fans, wallets, and key chains, to support tourism promotion. The Bee Farmers Group also experienced an increase in knowledge regarding modern Trigona honey cultivation techniques, and even achieved an effective and hygienic honey harvest. This program supports the SDGs and community economic independence.

Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to improve the economic welfare of the Buddhist community in Karang Village, Wonogiri Regency, by optimizing the potential of durian farming. The main problems faced by partners were traditional cultivation methods, low market value due to limited post-harvest processing, and lack of farm management. The implementation method utilized a community empowerment approach, which included socialization, technical training on sustainable cultivation, mentoring in processed product development (dodol and jam), and strengthening economic institutions based on Buddhist values. The results of the activity showed an increase in the technical capacity of farmers in selecting superior seeds and organic fertilization, as well as the creation of processed durian products with higher economic value. The integration of agribusiness skills and the principle of Sammā Ājīva (Right Livelihood) is proven to be able to transform farmers' mindsets from subsistence to independent, productive, and environmentally conscious. This program provides a model for religious community economic empowerment that is in harmony with ecological sustainability.

Abstract

This community service program aims to assist Blue Wash MSME in improving the quality of its financial record-keeping through the implementation of a Microsoft Access-based accounting system. Blue Wash MSME, which operates in the laundry service sector, currently relies on simple bookkeeping methods using Microsoft Excel. This practice has resulted in unstructured transaction records and difficulties in obtaining accurate financial information. The program employed a qualitative approach involving interviews and direct observation of the business partner to identify accounting-related issues faced by the business partner. Based on the identified needs, an accounting information system was designed and developed to support systematic financial recording. The system features master data management, purchase and sales transaction processing, general journal recording, inventory management, and automated financial reporting. The resulting accounting system is expected to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of financial management at Blue Wash MSME and support more structured and accountable financial reporting in compliance with applicable accounting standards.

Abstract

21st-century economics learning demands strengthening reasoning, economic literacy, digital literacy, and contextual problem-solving skills. However, learning practices in high schools are still teacher-centered and oriented towards mastery of concepts, thus not fully supporting reasoning and reflective learning. This community service activity aims to improve the quality of 21st-century economics learning through mentoring high school teachers in Kediri Regency based on pedagogical deep learning. The mentoring is designed to strengthen reasoning-based learning design, pedagogical integration of technology, and the development of authentic assessments. The activity was implemented using a mixed-method approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design on 27 economics teachers who are members of the Kediri Regency Economics MGMP. Data were collected through pedagogical competency questionnaires, learning observations, and teaching tool documentation, then analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The results showed an increase in teachers' pedagogical competency after mentoring, reflected in increases in mean and median scores and a decrease in score variation. Paired sample analysis showed a strong and significant relationship between conditions before and after mentoring, confirming the consistency of changes in individual teachers. These findings confirm that pedagogical deep learning-based mentoring is effective in optimizing the quality of 21st-century economics learning and is relevant as a model for continuous teacher professional development to support the implementation of national education policies and the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

Teacher professional development demands not only improvements in pedagogical and academic competence but also attention to psychological well-being, particularly in the context of academic writing, which often triggers stress and anxiety. Indonesian School Jeddah (SIJ) teachers face dual challenges: professional demands and limited formal academic writing training, alongside emotional pressure when completing writing tasks. This community service activity aims to enhance teacher professionalism and well-being through the Mindfulness-Based Writing Assistance program, which integrates mindfulness practices with process-based academic writing training. The activity involved 22 teachers through three main stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection instruments included evaluation questionnaires, structured observations, writing document analysis, and participants' narrative reflections. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Results showed that 84% of teachers experienced a reduction in writing stress, 88% showed increased focus, and 79% felt more confident in writing scientific papers. Additionally, document analysis revealed improvements in writing quality, specifically in understanding the IMRAD structure, paragraph coherence, reference usage, and argument strength. Narrative reflections disclosed increased self-awareness, courage to write, and motivation to continue independent scientific writing. These findings indicate that a mindfulness-based approach is effective in supporting teacher professional development while improving psychological well-being. This program contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 regarding healthy lives and well-being, as well as SDGs 4 on quality education, and has the potential to be replicated in other Indonesian school contexts.
