Abstract

This study aims to analyze the educational financing patterns at the Manba'ul Ulum Awitali Islamic Boarding School, a Salafi Islamic boarding school located in a rural area and does not receive government assistance. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including participatory observation, structured interviews, and documentation. The results show that this Islamic boarding school is able to survive and thrive through a community-based financing system. The main sources of funding come from monthly student fees, alumni donations, community donations, and creative income from Islamic arts activities such as hadroh and marawis groups. Financial management is carried out collectively and transparently, although it does not yet use a modern accounting system. Furthermore, the Islamic boarding school's success in managing its financing is supported by the active involvement of all elements of the boarding school, including student guardians, alumni, and the surrounding community. Islamic values such as trustworthiness, sincerity, and blessings are the main principles in financial management practices. This financing model demonstrates the strong role of social capital and spirituality in supporting the sustainability of education. These findings indicate that traditional Islamic boarding schools can develop an independent, equitable, and sustainable financial system by optimizing internal potential, community participation, and existing social networks.

Abstract

Teachers must possess character traits that can serve as role models for students. However, in reality, there are still teachers who do not have good character traits that students can emulate. Students, as the future generation of the nation and the foundation of the success of a citizen, must have good personality traits for their success one day. Moreover, the teachings of Islam require its followers to learn, as education is a matter of great importance and value. The study aims to understand the character of teachers according to Imam Al-Ghazali, the character of students according to Imam Al-Ghazali, and the relevance between the character of teachers and students according to Imam Al-Ghazali. This research employs a literature study method, which involves collecting data done by compiling data from the thoughts of Imam Al-Ghazali focused on the book Ihya Ulumiddin and Ayuhal Walad. The research results show that according to Imam Al-Ghazali, education is a process of acquiring happiness in this world and the hereafter, contentment, reliance on God, humility, love for others, honesty, politeness, generosity, and not being envious or arrogant. These qualities align closely with Islamic education in developing students' characters. According to Imam Al-Ghazali in the book Ayuuhal Walad, the character of both teachers and students should aim at creating individuals who are devoted worshippers, knowledgeable in both religious and general sciences, socially sensitive, reliant on God, obedient to their teachers and the teachings of Allah, compassionate, humble, not arrogant, and free from envy, while also being good citizens who engage in beneficial deeds for all humanity. The character of the teacher has a greater influence on the child than their knowledge and intelligence.

Abstract

Religious plurality is a social reality that cannot be avoided in modern society. The diversity of beliefs often gives rise to challenges in building harmonious relationships among religious communities, especially when theological differences intersect with social and political interests. Therefore, a religious framework of thought is needed that can respond constructively to this plural reality and is oriented towards humanitarian values. This article aims to examine the concept of interfaith relations from the perspective of Farid Esack. The study focuses on how Esack views interfaith relations not merely as a form of passive tolerance but as active solidarity based on social justice. The results of the study show that Farid Esack develops a theological perspective that is contextual and aligned with oppressed groups. According to him, interfaith relations must be realized through concrete cooperation in addressing issues of injustice, poverty, and oppression. Interfaith solidarity is understood as an expression of shared moral responsibility that does not eliminate each faith's identity but rather strengthens the commitment to the values of justice and liberation. Thus, Farid Esack's thought makes an important contribution to the development of discourse on interfaith relations in plural societies, including Indonesia, which has diverse ethnicities, cultures, and religions.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of ethics in seeking knowledge in the book Ta'limul Muta'allim by Sheikh Az-Zarnuji and its relevance to the character education of male students at the Darul Ishlah Islamic Boarding School. This study was motivated by the phenomenon of moral decline among the younger generation, characterized by a decline in respect for teachers, weak discipline in learning, and low responsibility among students. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen classical Islamic ethical values as the foundation for sustainable character building. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews with students, caregivers, and teachers, as well as documentation. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results of the study show that the concept of ethics in seeking knowledge in the Ta'limul Muta'allim book includes the values of sincere intentions for the sake of Allah, respect for teachers, discipline, sincerity, and consistency in seeking knowledge. These values are applied in an integrated manner at the Darul Ishlah Islamic Boarding School through habituation, exemplary behavior, and boarding school rules. Students are guided in academic, spiritual, and moral aspects. The application of ethical values in seeking knowledge has a positive impact on the character building of students, which is reflected in their religious attitudes, politeness, responsibility, discipline, and high enthusiasm for learning. Thus, the Ta'limul Muta'allim book has strong relevance as a reference for strengthening the character education of students in the modern era.

Abstract

The ecological crisis is a global problem that increasingly threatens the sustainability of human life and nature. Environmental damage, climate change, and excessive exploitation of natural resources indicate an imbalance in the relationship between humans and nature. This article aims to examine ecotheology as an ecological solution to address the environmental crisis through a theological and ethical approach. This research uses qualitative methods with a library study approach to various scientific and religious literature relevant to ecotheology and environmental issues. The results show that ecotheology positions nature as God's creation with intrinsic value and must be preserved as a form of human moral and spiritual responsibility. Ecotheology encourages a paradigm shift from an anthropocentric perspective to a more harmonious relationship between God, humans, and nature. By integrating the values of faith, ethics, and concrete action, ecotheology has the potential to become a moral foundation for building ecological awareness and realizing a sustainable life.
