Abstract

This research is carried out in order to study the development of ideas or curriculum policies in the field of maritime which is indeed a need of the public in particular who reside in the northern coastal area of Subang County This curriculum is an effort to support one of Indonesia's dreams of becoming the largest archipelagic country and the World Maritime Poros. The maritime curriculum program is a policy that aims to introduce the potential of maritime affairs and fisheries in Indonesia's coastal areas to the younger generation, in order to awaken the spirit of love for the sea in coastal communities, especially for students in coastal schools. The research method used is the study of literature studies of articles, journals and references related to the Maritime Curriculum and observasion, data analysis techniques using qualitative descriptive type. Based on the results of the research, the development of this maritime curriculum resulted in five indicators, including: 1) a marine-based curriculum; 2) curricular content based on community life patterns; 3) a problem-solving curricule; 4) student skills development; and 5) public participation.

Abstract

Spatial intelligence is a person's ability to describe a phenomenon in terms of spatial concepts. In learning geography, spatial intelligence is needed to make it easier for students to visualize every phenomenon. However, the level of spatial intelligence of each individual is different, so it needs to be supported with the right media in learning. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of Geographic Information System-based media in improving spatial intelligence. The method used is quantitative with a t-test and N-Gain test. The results obtained t value (56) = 2.982, p = 0.004, the significance value of 0.004 <0.05, and t count (2.982) > t table (2.048) means that there is a significant difference between the control class and the experimental class. The control class N-Gain test obtained a value of 0.15 (low category) while the experimental class was 0.34 (medium category), meaning that the experimental class was more effective than the control class. Based on these results, using the right media can improve students' spatial intelligence in learning.

Abstract

Learning models that can develop critical thinking skills include the Predict Observe Explain learning model. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of using the Predict Observe Explain learning model on critical thinking skills at Senior High School 1 Bandung. This research uses an experimental research method with a quasi experimental design (none quivalent groups pretest-posttest design). Data collection was carried out using tests, giving assignments, and observation sheets. The research variable is the Predict Observe Explain learning model as the independent variable (X) while critical thinking ability is the dependent variable (Y). The subjects in this research were students in class XI IPS Senior High School 1 Bandung. Data analysis used Paired t-test and Simple Linear Regression. The research results show that: 1) there are differences in the critical thinking abilities of students in the experimental class before and after using the Predict Observe Explain learning model; and 2) there is an influence of using the Predict Observe Explain learning model on students critical thinking abilities in the experimental class.

Abstract

The coast of Jadimulya Village is used by the community for fish and shrimp ponds which results in abrasion due to the absence of a mangrove ecosystem to buffer abrasion. This research was conducted to determine the condition of the mangroves in Jadimulya Village over the last 5 years using remote sensing and a Geographic Information System (GIS) with the maximum likelihood classification method, so that information is obtained that can be used as reference material for research related to the field of mapping, conservation, and development of mangrove ecosystems in Jadimulya Village. The data processed for mapping in this research used Landsat 8 OLI imagery for the last five years (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022). The research results show that the area of mangroves in Jadimulya Village in 2018 was 2.85 ha, in 2019 it was 4.45 ha, in 2020 it will be 4.17 ha, in 2021 it will be 4.42 ha, and in 2022 it will be 5.3 ha. The Producer Accuracy (PA) and User Accuracy (UA) values for mangrove classification are 83%, and the overall accuracy or Overall Accuracy (OA) for image classification is 85% with a kappa coefficient of 0.81.

Abstract

Low learning outcomes are often associated with the use of teaching methods that are inappropriate and still teacher-centred. This research aims to: 1) determine the significant differences between the average post-test and pre-test scores of experimental class and control class students; and 2) find out whether the average post-test score of experimental class students is significantly better than the post-test average of control class students in Class The type of research used is an experiment with a pre-test post-test control group design. The research results showed: 1) the average score for the experimental class learning outcomes was 41.10 for the pre-test and the post-test score was 84.66; and 2) the average value of the control class learning outcomes obtained by the pre-test was 40.15 and the post-test was 68.75, so the t-test results showed that the t value = 0.42 < 2.012 which means there is no significant difference with a significance level of 0.05%, and there is a significant difference in the average value of the post-test results for the experimental class and the control class with a value of t= 3.087> 2.012.

Abstract

The polygenetic causal paradigm is the root cause of changes in coastal areas. The influence of human activities on mangrove ecosystems, especially land conversion, has an impact on changes in the area of mangrove forests and also affects the downstream of rivers. This study aims to 1) find the root causes of problems in coastal areas through the paradigm of polygenetic causality; and 2) utilization of coastal ecosystems through a dynamic equilibrium paradigm. This study uses a survey method to identify the main constituent materials of coastal areas, coastal relief, power, and energy processes that work in coastal areas and small islands in Kab. West Moon. Anthropodynamic and hydrodynamic factors have a major influence on the condition of the coastal areas and small islands of Kab. West Moon. Anthropodynamic factors can cause damage to mangrove ecosystems and coral reef ecosystems. Four principles related to effective coastal area management, namely: 1) an adaptive decision-making process; 2) introduction to the nature and special values regarding coastal areas; 3) a comprehensive strategy for integrating sectoral activities; and 4) emphasis on sustainable development. The dynamic equilibrium paradigm in the coastal areas and small islands of Kab. West Muna can be achieved if the utilization of coastal areas and small islands does not exceed their carrying capacity.

Abstract

Inappropriate learning models often make the learning process less effective. This study aims to determine: 1) describe the results of students' geography learning on Indonesian cultural diversity material; 2) influence of the Problem Basic Learning (PBL) learning model and learning style on the learning outcomes of Geography material Indonesian cultural diversity. The method used in this study is experimental. Data collection techniques in this study used written tests, and questionnaires.  The results showed: 1) the average value of student learning outcomes before the application of the PBL model in the learning process in class obtained a pretest of 36.53 and the average value of student learning outcomes after the application of the PBL model in the learning process in the classroom was obtained posttest 78.26; 2) from the provision of student learning style questionnaires, it was found that the students' learning styles showed, auditorial learning styles with an average score of 45.65 and students kinesthetic learning styles with an average score of 47.96, and visual learning styles had an average score of 48. After conducting the Hypothesis test using ANOVA One Way test, the probability value (Sig.) = 0.00>0.05 was found, so Ho was accepted. So, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the PBL model and learning style on Geography learning outcomes.
