Abstract

This research uses a spatial modeling approach to map tsunami inundation scenarios in Majene Regency, West Sulawesi Province utilizing topographic data, bathymetry, and other related information. This research aims to design a model that can visualize potential inundation and affected areas along the coastline of Majene Regency with 6 meter, 10 meter, and 30 meter inundation scenarios. This modeling analysis provides an in-depth picture of the potential impact of the tsunami disaster, especially on all sub-districts in Majene Regency. The modeling results are made into three classifications: high, medium, and low. The modeling results show that the sub-districts have a hazard index and tsunami inundation area in the high category for the 6, 10, and 30-meter scenarios Malunda and Sendana sub-districts. The sub-districts that have a hazard index and tsunami inundation area in the medium variety for the 6, 10, and 30 meter scenarios are Banggae, East Banggae, Pamboang, Tammerodo Sendana, and Tubo Sendana sub-districts. The sub-district that has a hazard index and tsunami inundation area in the low category for the 6, 10, and 30-meter scenarios is Ulumanda Subdistrict.

Abstract

Variations in coastal and small island ecosystems cannot be separated from the condition of sea waters and the influence of activities occurring on land. Continuous processes that occur in the sea and on the land will, of course, influence genetic processes and the materials that make up them, so that coastal and small island ecosystems provide special characteristics and unique internal problems. This research aims to identify coastal ecosystems and small islands in West Muna Regency using aerial photography based on the forming parameters that influence the constituent ecosystems. The method used to identify coastal ecosystems and small islands is through an aerial photo interpretation and field survey approach. The research results show that the condition of the coastal ecosystem and small islands of West Muna Regency is influenced by activities that occur on land and at sea which interact and interact with each other, thus influencing the environmental dynamics of the coastal ecosystem. Therefore, the management of coastal and small island ecosystems in West Muna Regency requires an integrated and comprehensive approach so that coastal and small island ecosystems can be sustainable.

Abstract

Schools and their educational facilities must be prepared to be safe from disasters and not a place that can endanger the lives of students, teachers and education personnel and other school residents. This research aims to find out the strategic steps in overcoming disaster problems through the education curriculum. This type of research is qualitative research with literature study through reviewing related literature. Then, the analysis of several journals and books related to the discussion material will be described descriptively. The results found that disaster education programs are needed to be able to reduce the risk of natural disasters that may occur at any time. Disaster education is an awareness-building process that starts from building knowledge, understanding and actions that encourage preparedness, prevention and recovery.

Abstract

Kendari City often experiences tornado disasters that cause many losses. A tornado disaster risk analysis needs to be conducted to reduce the losses. This study aims to determine the distribution of the risk of tornado disaster in Kendari city as well as mitigation efforts that need to be done based on the level of disaster risk. This type of research is quantitative descriptive research with spatial analysis. The results showed that Kendari city has 5 levels of risk of puting twister disaster. Very low risk level with a total land area of 4176,77 ha (15,13%), low risk level of 3.514,86 ha (12,74%), moderate risk level of 14.218,44 ha (51,52%), high risk level of 5.230,71 ha (18,95%), and very high risk level of 457,38 ha (1,66%). The tornado disaster mitigation plan can be carried out based on the priority of disaster risk in Kendari city. Mitigation in very high to high risk areas is prioritized on prohibiting development, improving disaster management systems, and conservation measures. Mitigation in moderate risk areas is prioritized on the implementation of building standard rules that take into account wind loads and material safety. Mitigation in low to very low risk areas is prioritized on limiting development so as not to result in land conversion.

Abstract

Andoolo District is an area that is very prone to flooding, such as the flash flood in 2013. The purpose of this study was to determine the areas prone to flooding and to determine the data accuracy on the map based on the actual situation in Andoolo District. This type of research is survey and mapping research. Primary data was collected by direct review of the flood location and documentation. Secondary data includes administrative maps, soil type maps, rainfall maps, land use maps, slope maps, and distance from river maps collected from related agencies. Flood vulnerability maps are grouped into classes of not vulnerable, rather vulnerable, quite vulnerable, vulnerable, and very vulnerable. The vulnerable level occupies the largest proportion of 5,128.54 ha or 52% of the total area. The accuracy of the data on the map and the actual situation shows that there are 5 villages exposed to flooding, namely Alangga, Andoolo, Punggapu, Lalobao, and Potoro. s

Abstract

Kendari City is the capital of Southeast Sulawesi province which is the center of industrial, trade, and service activities for its people. This is an attraction for immigrants from outside the area to come to live or look for work. The development of cities invites migration flows from villages to cities, population mobility and the attraction of city income result in village residents coming to cities which is caused by poverty, giving rise to homeless people and beggars in urban areas. This research aims to analyze the spatial distribution of homeless and beggars in the Kendari Bay area and create a route map for homeless and beggars in the Kendari Bay area. The research method used is survey research with a spatial approach using a geographic information system application. Based on the research results, it was found that the distribution of homeless and beggar locations was spread across several points, namely tourist areas, places of worship, and elite residential areas. Meanwhile, the movement route for homeless beggars in the city of Kendari is in the Citra Land road area towards the Al-Alam mosque, the Kendari Beach Route, the Kendari Bay Platform, and the Bahteramas Bridge.

Abstract

Kalumata is one of the sub-districts in the City of Ternate which is also the place where excavation C mining activities take place with the type of mining of minerals in the form of volcanic sand when referring to the geological formations from the geological map. Activity results in changes not only in land conversion but also in the condition of the physical properties of the soil. This study aims to determine the morphology and physical properties of the soil in post-mining excavation C in the Kalumata Village. The results of the research on the morphological characteristics of the three soil profiles in the post-mining area C have uniqueness and similarities. While the physical characteristics of the soil on the three soil profiles in the post-mining area C showed that the soil texture was dominated by the dust fraction, the bulk density tended to be low, the particle density was below the average for mineral soil particle density, high dominant porosity, and the lowest soil water content in the profile. III and the highest in profile I, as well as the fractionation of sand grains in each soil layer from profiles I II, and III, the proportion of sand is almost 100% dominating.
