Abstract

The aim of the research was to study the effect of organic fertilizer and phosphorus fertilizer (P)on the growth and yield of peanut on ultisol soils in Kendari. The study was conducted in the Labibia sub district, Kendari city, from January to May 2025. The study was arranged in a randomized block design (RBD) in a factorial pattern with three replications consisting of 2 factors. The first factor was organic fertilizer which consisted of 4 levels, namely: control (B0), 5 t ha-1 (B1), 10 t ha-1 (B2), and 15 t ha-1 (B3). The second factor was P fertilizer which consisted of 3 levels, namely control (P0), 50 kg ha-1 (P1), and 100 kg ha-1 (P2) so that there were 4x3x3=36 experimental units. Observation variables included: plant height, leaf area, weight of 100 seeds, yield per plot and yield per ha. The results showed that there was an interaction between organic fertilizer and combination of P fertilizer on the observed variables. The best results were obtained in the treatment of 15 t ha-1 of organic fertilizer and 100 kg of P fertilizer with the highest production reaching 0,99 t ha-1.

Abstract

The utilization of yards by Women Farmers Groups is imperative for ensuring food security; however, the efficacy of this practice is contingent upon the optimal functioning of the group, which, in practice, continues to grapple with numerous impediments. The objective of this study is to analyze the role of the Green Women Farmers Group in utilizing yards in Anawai Village, Wua-Wua District, Kendari City. The research population consists of all 30 members of the Green Women Farmers Group. The sample was determined using the census method. The present study employed a quantitative approach. The data presented herein were collected through a variety of research methods, including surveys, in-depth interviews, and a meticulous review of relevant documentation. The research variables of interest were the role of farmer groups and the utilization of home gardens. The collected data were then subjected to analysis using quantitative descriptive methods. The findings indicated that the Green Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Anawai Village, Wua-Wua District, Kendari City, exhibited a high level of proficiency in the utilization of yards, particularly in its functions as a learning class, a conduit for cooperation, and a production unit. Conversely, the level of yard utilization by its members was found to be moderate, contingent on the diversity of commodities produced and the ensuing benefits obtained. A correlation analysis reveals a robust and statistically significant positive association between group role and yard utilization (r = 0.774; p < 0.05). This finding suggests that effective group function implementation is associated with enhanced yard management and productivity among its members. Women's farmer groups have been shown to make a significant contribution to enhancing the effectiveness of yard management and fostering more productive and sustainable use of local resources.

Abstract

The transition from cocoa farming to oil palm cultivation in Southeast Sulawesi, particularly in Mondoke Village, is attributable to technical factors. Oil palm is regarded as more lucrative, more manageable, and more resilient to pests and diseases than cocoa. The objective of this study is to ascertain the technical factors involved in the conversion of cocoa farming land to oil palm in Mandoke Village, Lambandia Subdistrict, East Kolaka Regency. The informants for this study consisted of farmers who were members of farmer groups and agricultural extension workers. The study's informant pool comprised a total of nine individuals, including eight farmers and one agricultural extension worker. The data collection techniques employed in this study encompassed observation, documentation, and interviews guided by a structured interview protocol. The present study centered on the technical factors that precipitated the conversion of agricultural land. The collected data was then subjected to qualitative analysis. The findings of the study indicate that the technical factors associated with the conversion of cocoa farmland to oil palm plantations, undertaken by farmers in Mondoke Village, are as follows: farmers possess the knowledge necessary for the cultivation of cocoa, yet they recognize that cocoa necessitates more intensive care than oil palms. Regular fertilization and pruning are essential to maintain the health of cocoa trees and prevent overgrowth, which can lead to increased susceptibility to pests such as PBK and Helopeltis. In contrast, oil palm maintenance is less complex, necessitating only the pruning of aged fronds to facilitate harvesting and deter pests. The management of pests, such as caterpillars and rats, in oil palm plantations can be effectively addressed through the implementation of controlled measures, including the application of pesticides and the maintenance of sanitation. Furthermore, the yield of old cocoa trees (over 20–25 years old) is lower, while oil palms demonstrate a longer and more stable production period throughout the year.

Abstract

The efficacy of agricultural development is predominantly contingent upon the strategic function of agricultural extension workers in enhancing farmers' knowledge, skills, and innovation. Farmers' satisfaction and favorable response to the performance of extension workers are pivotal factors in achieving dynamic, innovative, and competitive agriculture. The objective of this study is to ascertain the level of satisfaction among farmers in relation to the role of agricultural extension workers in rice field extension in Kasimpa Jaya Village, South Tiworo District, West Muna Regency. The research population comprised all 94 rice farmers residing in Kasimpa Jaya Village. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula with an error rate of 10%, resulting in a sample size of 20 people. The sampling method employed was simple random sampling. The data were collected through a combination of interviews, documentation, and surveys administered via questionnaires. The research variables of interest were farmer satisfaction and the role of agricultural extension workers. The collected data were then subjected to a descriptive analysis. The results indicated that farmer satisfaction with the role of agricultural extension workers in Kasimpa Jaya Village was moderate, with high ratings for product quality and service, while the public emotional aspect was moderate. The role of agricultural extension workers is moderate, and their roles in education, motivation, facilitation, and counseling still need to be improved. Agricultural extension workers have played a fairly effective role in providing education and technical services; however, they have not been optimal in building emotional closeness and facilitating the needs of farmers as a whole.

Abstract

The agricultural sector, particularly the cultivation of tomatoes in Tontonunu Village, exhibits considerable economic potential. However, the sector confronts impediments, including substandard yields, limited technological expertise, and reliance on intermediaries. Consequently, enhancing farmers' capabilities through agricultural extension initiatives is imperative to augment productivity and ensure their well-being. The objective of this study is to ascertain the impact of agricultural extension workers on the financial yield of tomato farming in Tontonunu Village, Tontonunu District, Bombana Regency. The research population comprised all 120 tomato farmers in Tontonunu Village. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula with a standard error of 15%, resulting in a sample of 32 tomato farmers. The sampling method employed was simple random sampling. The data collection process involved the implementation of a survey method, which included the administration of a questionnaire and the conduction of interviews. The research variables encompassed the role of agricultural extension workers and tomato farm income. The data were processed using descriptive analysis. The results indicated that agricultural extension workers exhibited varied roles in carrying out their duties. Among the respondents who identified as facilitators, 43.75% were classified as being in the "very good" category, while 56.25% were in the "fairly good" category. The majority of respondents (96.875%) were classified as "fairly good," while a smaller proportion (3.125%) were designated as "very good." The role of educator elicited a range of outcomes, with all respondents (100%) falling within the fairly good category. Conversely, in the role of motivator, 71.875% of respondents were in the fairly good category, while 28.125% were in the very good category. The total income of the 32 farmers who participated in the study and who were engaged in tomato farming in Tontonunu Village was IDR 387,555,117. Furthermore, the income of each farmer exhibited significant variation, with the highest income reaching IDR 37,133,500 and the lowest income being IDR 2,214,750, with an average income of IDR 13,048,597 per season.
