Abstract

This research aims to determine the form and process of local wisdom in paddy rice farming activities in Jati Bali Village, Ranomeeto Barat Sub-district, South Konawe Regency. The research design is qualitative, and the determination of informants was done by Snowball sampling technique. The study's key informants numbered 16 individuals, comprising four indigenous people, two village officials, one P3A chairperson, and nine rice farmers. Data collection methods included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation using an interview guide. The research focuses on the form of local wisdom of the community and the process of implementing local wisdom in paddy rice farming activities. Data were analyzed using a qualitative analysis method by referring to the Miles & Hubermen model, through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results of the study indicated that the form of textual local wisdom observed among wet-rice farmers in Jati Bali Village, Ranomeeto Barat Sub-district, pertains to the procedure (determination of good days) that is carried out by the village customary head and hamlet custom. This determination precedes land cultivation and planting, with maintenance and harvesting not being conducted on designated good days. The intangible form of local wisdom manifests in the form of mantra prayers offered by traditional leaders and farmers. These prayers are believed to facilitate a smooth and disease-free farming process. The implementation of local wisdom by wet-rice farmers in Jati Bali Village is evident in the ngendag sawah ritual, ngurit, ngwiwit, nangkluk merana, and masabo rituals.

The second factor was potassium fertilizer which consisted of 3 levels, namely control (P0), 50 kg ha-1 (P1), and 100 kg ha-1 (P2) so that there were 4x3x3=36 experimental units. Observation variables included: plant height, leaf area, weight of 100 seeds, yield per plot and yield per ha. The results showed that there was an interaction between organic fertilizer and potasium on the observed variables. The best results were obtained in the treatment of 15 t ha-1 of organic fertilizer and 100 kg ha-1 of potassium fertilizer with the highest production reaching 1,12 t ha-1.

Abstract

The research objectives were to determine the effectiveness of the use of the Anti-Rat Trawl method in controlling the population of rat pests that often threaten rice plants. The research location was deliberately selected in Sendang Mulya Sari Village, Tongauna District, Konawe Regency, with the strategic consideration that the area is a representative rice production center to analyze the impact of pest control innovations. The scope of the study covered all rice farmer groups in the area, with a total of 11 farmer groups spread out. The informant selection method was carried out purposively, namely by selecting 18 members of the farmer group who were considered to have direct knowledge and experience related to the use of Anti-Rat Trawl in controlling pest attacks. The results of the study showed that the Anti-Rat Trawl innovation proved to be very effective in reducing the population and attacks of rat pests on rice plants. The level of effectiveness achieved reached 86%, which indicated significant success in protecting plants from the risk of damage due to rat pest attacks. The success of this method has important implications for agricultural pest control strategies. Anti-Rat Trawl is not only able to reduce the rat population, but also has the potential to minimize economic losses that can be caused by pest attacks. Innovative approaches such as these demonstrate the importance of developing technology-based solutions and local adaptation in addressing agricultural challenges. This study confirms that innovation in pest control technology has a key role in increasing productivity and sustainability of agricultural businesses. By implementing the Anti-Rat Trawl method, farmers in Sendang Mulya Sari Village have proven their ability to adopt practical and effective solutions to protect rice plants from pest threats.

This research was conducted in South Konawe District using time series data for the last five years by considering that this area is one of the main commodity-producing centers. The data were analyzed descriptively by using the Location Quotient (LQ), Static Location Quotient (DLQ), and the combining LQ and DLQ analysis. The results showed that 1) the baec commodity in the last five years was in the food crops sub-sector, namely sweet potato compared to other commodities. The plantation sub-sector includes pepper, cashew, hybrid coconut, rubber and patchouli. The base commodities in the horticulture sub-sector of the vegetable group are shallots, cayenne pepper, cabbage, green beans, mushrooms, red beans, cucumbers, mustard greens and eggplant. While there are no base commodities in the fruits group and also in the livestock sub-sector, 2) there were no prospective commodities in the food crops sub-sector for the last four years. Each commodity and livestock population in the entire sub-sector becomes prospective in certain years, and 3) based on the interpretation of the base and prospective sectors, pepper plants have become a base and prospective plantation sub-sector commodity in the last four years. Meanwhile, there are no basic and prospective commodities in the last four years in the food crops sub-sector, horticulture of vegetables and fruit groups, as well as the livestock sub-sector, or in other words that in addition to the plantation sub-sector, commodities in other sub-sectors are the base and are prospective only in certain year.
