The course paper is about the comparative analysis of pronouns in Chinese and Indonesian. In every language, pronouns are used to refer to people or things. My research method is to explain the types of pronouns in the two languages (Chinese and Indonesian), the usage structure of pronouns in sentences, and then conduct a comparative analysis. From the structure of the comparative analysis, I point out the similarities and differences between Chinese and Indonesian pronouns. In terms of demonstrative pronouns, Chinese has more demonstrative pronouns than Indonesian, and their forms are mostly the same. There are six types of interrogative pronouns in Chinese and Indonesian, but Chinese has more interrogative pronouns than Indonesian.

Naming Chinese dishes is a linguistic practice that not only reflects culinary aspects but also contains cognitive meanings related to society's culture, history, and social values . This article examines Chinese dish naming from a cognitive linguistics perspective, focusing on how language patterns create associations, symbolism, and representation in the choice of food names. The documentary video A Bite of China (舌尖上的中国 Shéjiān Shàng de Zhōngguó) is a documentary video that documents various kinds of dishes throughout China. Documentation takes the form of broadcasts about the origins of the dish as well as the history and culture of the dish. The author analyzes how cognitive concepts, such as metaphors and conceptual schemes, influence how society chooses and understands dish names. The study results show that naming Chinese dishes contains cognitive semantic meaning. In his analysis, the name functions as culinary identification and an imaging concept originating from the source and target domains to convey cultural narratives, symbolism, and specific values that are important in social life. By understanding this nomenclature, we can better appreciate the complexity of the interactions between language, culture, and cognition in constructing food meaning in Chinese culture.

Communication plays a vital role in human social interaction, with language serving as the primary tool for conveying messages, expressing identity, and shaping cultural development. Mandarin, as one of the most widely spoken languages, includes both formal and informal variations, such as slang. Slang is an evolving linguistic phenomenon that reflects social and cultural dynamics, particularly among young people. This study explores the characteristics, formation mechanisms, and social functions of Mandarin slang, with a focus on its usage on Weibo, one of China's most influential social media platforms. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach to analyze slang terms used in digital interactions between September and December 2023. The findings indicate that slang in Mandarin follows various linguistic patterns, including phonetic changes, abbreviations, metaphors, loanwords, and morphological adaptations. Additionally, slang serves multiple functions, such as strengthening social identity, fostering group cohesion, and enabling creative self-expression. Weibo significantly contributes to the dissemination and evolution of slang, as public figures, celebrities, and media organizations actively engage in language innovation through their posts. This study provides insights into the dynamic role of digital platforms in shaping modern language trends and highlights the impact of slang on communication patterns among Chinese youth.

Learning media serve as tools to convey messages (learning material) in teaching and learning activities. Without the use of instructional media, the learning environment becomes monotonous, leading to a lack of focus and student interest in the material presented. This, in turn, affects student learning outcomes. This study was motivated by several problem findings, including frequent errors in constructing simple Mandarin sentences, lack of student attention during lessons, and low interest in Mandarin subjects. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of using wipe clean flash cards on students' ability to construct simple Mandarin sentences. This research is a pre-experimental study with a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of the entire population of class XI-10, with 18 female and 20 male students at SMA Negeri 1 Lamongan. The independent variables were the use of wipe clean flash cards and teaching implementation. The dependent variable was the ability to construct simple Mandarin sentences. Data were collected through observation, tests, and student response questionnaires. Instruments included observation sheets, test questions, and response questionnaires. Data were analysed using statistical techniques. The results showed a significant effect, with the average pretest score at 51.2 and posttest at 78.8. A t-test revealed a calculated t-value of 8.97, which exceeded the critical value of 1.69 at the 5% significance level (α = 0.05; df = 37), indicating that H₀ is rejected and Hₐ is accepted. It can be concluded that the use of wipe clean flash cards significantly affects the ability to construct simple Mandarin sentences.

This study investigates the implementation of the Mystery Envelope game as an interactive method to enhance Mandarin sentence-writing skills among twelfth-grade students at Insan Cendekia Syech Yusuf Senior High School, Indonesia. Students commonly face difficulties in constructing grammatically correct and coherent Mandarin sentences, despite strong memorization abilities, especially those from Islamic boarding school backgrounds. This research uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) across two cycles, applying both qualitative and quantitative methods, including observation sheets, field notes, and pre- and post-tests. The Mystery Envelope game involved students forming sentences from randomly selected Mandarin words contained in envelopes, encouraging critical thinking and grammar application in a fun, student-centered environment. Results revealed a significant improvement in writing ability: the average score increased from 86,5 in Cycle I to 87,6 in Cycle II. Students demonstrated better understanding of sentence structure, vocabulary usage, and confidence in writing. The study concludes that the Mystery Envelope game is an effective, engaging instructional strategy for improving Mandarin writing skills, particularly in constructing simple sentences. It also enhances student motivation, participation, and language mastery through active learning techniques.

This study takes the Weibo platform as a case to explore the Sinicization pathways of English loanwords in the context of social media. The core question addressed is: how do adaptation mechanisms of loanwords operate in this rapidly changing digital environment, and how does social media accelerate their localization? The study aims to reveal the influence mechanisms of social media on the dissemination and adaptation of loanwords and to analyze language innovation behaviors among young user groups. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, this research analyzes 150 English loanwords collected between October and December 2024. Based on Miao’s theory of loanword adaptation, the findings indicate that phonetic transcription (83 instances) is the most prevalent Sinicization strategy. Semantic transcription (32 instances) and hybrid loanwords (26 instances) reflect the unique characteristics of the Chinese character system. The study concludes that social media significantly accelerates the spread and localization of loanwords and highlights the leading role of young users in language evolution. This research provides valuable empirical insights for cross-cultural communication and language planning.
