Abstract

Adolescents with low self-esteem often exhibit negative social behavior. Teens with lower self-esteem are believed to be those who do not have a strong bond with or are not linked to their fathers. This study aims to investigate how parenting practices, in particular father-child connection, impact the self-esteem of teenagers in the Minangkabau community. The study involved 166 teens from the ethnic group of Minangkabau. The Self Esteem Scale and the IPPA-R for Children were used to assess the variables, and simple linear regression was used to analyze the data using SPSS 25. The results show that father-child bonding in parenting has a substantial impact on teenagers' self-esteem in Minangkabau.

Abstract

Dewasa ini banyak mahasiswa yang mengalami kepenatan akibat masa transisi dari perkuliahan online dengan onsite. Para mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan untuk tetap dapat fokus dalam jangka waktu yang lama untuk menghadapi perkuliahan onsite. Hal ini tentunya akan berpengaruh ke dalam proses pembelajaran mahasiswa tersebut (van den Wildenberg et al., 2022). Erat sekali fokus atau konsentrasi dalam belajar ini dengan istilah inhibitory control, dimana istilah ini merujuk pada kemampuan individu/seseorang untuk dapat mempertahankan fokusnya pada satu hal yang dirasa penting. Hal ini dapat mengakibatkan fokus/konsentrasi mahasiswa akan dapat bertahan lebih lama dibandingkan dengan mahasiswa yang tidak memilikinya (Rabi et al., 2022). Mengingat pentingnya hal ini, maka diperlukan sebuah cara untuk dapat meningkatkan inhibitory control pada mahasiswa, salah satunya adalah dengan penerapan teknik mindfulness. Dimana teknik ini akan dapat mengajarkan kita ataupun para mahasiswa untuk dapat melatih konsentrasi dan fokus yang dimilikinya. Pengambilan data yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental. Dimana peneliti akan menerapkan teknik mindfulness di dalam kelas, dan melihat efektifitasnya terhadap inhibitory control para mahasiswa melalui stroop test. Diharapkan dari penelitian ini akan dapat membawa dampak positif bagi para mahasiswa agar dapat menunjang proses pembelajaran menjadi lebih baik dan menghasilkan mahasiswa yang berkompetensi.

Abstract

Personality traits and organizational support as predictors of work-life balance among shoprite workers. Work-life balance has become an emerging issue where bothorganization and   employees tend to benefit. However no consistent results have been obtained using different predictors. Therefore, this study investigated personality traits and organizational support as predictors of work-life balance among workers in Shoprite in Ibadan metropolis. The study adopted a cross-sectional survey design while purposive sampling technique was used to select one superstore: Shoprite in Ibadan. Data were collected from 200 participants using three validated scales and analyzed using t-test of independent samples and multiple regressions analysis. Three hypotheses were tested and accepted at a p < 0.05 level of significance. The result indicated that perceived organizational support significantly influenced work-life balance [t (198) = 2.12, p <..05] among study participants. Also, the result revealed that personality traits of extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness to experience jointly predicted work-life balance among workers (R2 = 0.04, F (5, 191) = 1.64, p < 0.05). Furthermore, personality traits and organizational support jointly predicted work-life balance among study participants (R2 = 0.08, F (6,190) = 2.89, p < 0.05). However, only perceived organizational support independently predicted work-life balance. The study concluded that personality traits and organizational support are good predictors of work-life balance among study participants. Abstract

Abstrak: Efektifitas Intervensi Pelatihan Self-Regulated Learning dalam Mereduksi Prokrastinasi Akademik. Prokrastinasi akademik merupakan suatu perilaku menunda-nunda tugas dikalangan mahasiswa yang umum terjadi. Prokrastinasi akademik yang timbul berkaitan dengan penulisan skripsi sering kali dialami oleh para mahasiswa akhir yang sedang menyelesaikan skripsi. Hal ini menyebabkan mahasiswa kesulitan mengerjakan tugas dengan baik, mendapat peringatan dari dosen dan menghambat kelulusan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melihat efektivitas dari intervensi pelatihan self-regulated learning dalam mereduksi prokrastinasi akademik pada mahasiswa yang menyusun skripsi di Universitas X. Penelitian ini menggunakan the non-equivalent control group dengan jumlah 30 subjek, 15 orang pada kelompok eksperimen dan 15 orang kelompok control. Hasil penelitian menunjukan pelatihan self-regulated learning efektif mereduksi tingkat prokrastinasi akademik mahasiswa sebesar -15%. Hal ini juga terlihat dari hasil uji Paired Sample T-Test 0,000 < 0,05 yang artinya adanya perbedaan tingkat prokrastinasi akademik mahasiswa sebelum dan sesudah diberikan pelatihan, dan uji Independent Sample T Test 0,00 < 0,05 yang artinya adanya perbedaan tingkat prokrastinasi akademik mahasiswa antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol yaitu pada kelompok eksperimen yang diberikan pelatihan terjadi penurunan prokrastinasi sedangkan pada kelompok kontrol yang tidak diberikan pelatihan terjadi peningkatan pada prokrastinasi akademik.

Abstract

This quasi-qualitative study explored the concerns, barriers, and impacts of implementing Inclusive Education (IE) in elementary schools in Sumatra and Java, Indonesia. Despite the Indonesian government's mandate to implement IE through Ministry of Education Act No. 70 of 2009, various challenges hinder its effective implementation. A survey and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 25 elementary school teachers to gain insight into their experiences and perceptions of IE. The findings suggest that teachers often lack confidence in employing inclusive strategies because of limited knowledge and large class sizes, highlighting the need for ongoing professional development. Additionally, while there is evidence of positive attitudes towards special educational needs (SEN) students among peers and parents, teachers may not fully embrace IE. This study aims to provide a thorough assessment of IE strategies employed in Indonesian elementary schools by analyzing key factors and offering recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of IE for both students and teachers. These findings will inform policymakers, educators, and stakeholders about the current state of IE and the necessary steps to improve it, ultimately contributing to the development of a more inclusive and equitable education system in Indonesia.

Abstract

Bekerja sebagai guru sekaligus ibu rumah tangga bukanlah hal yang mudah dan penuh tantangan bagi seorang perempuan, Kondisi ini dapat menimbulkan gejala stres pada guru perempuan seperti kelelahan, pusing, mudah tersinggung, dan perasaan depresi. Faktor yang dapat menyebabkan terjadinya stres kerja adalah beban kerja dan konflik peran ganda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh beban kerja dan konflik peran ganda terhadap stres kerja pada guru perempuan yang sudah menikah. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah guru SMA perempuan di Kecamatan X yang berjumlah 142 orang dengan karakteristik sudah menikah dan mempunyai anak minimal 1 orang. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tiga skala yaitu skala stres kerja, skala beban kerja, dan skala konflik peran ganda. Dengan analisis regresi berganda, analisis data menunjukkan hasil koefisien korelasi sebesar 111,834 dan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 (p<0,01). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara stres kerja guru perempuan yang sudah menikah ditinjau dari beban kerja dengan konflik peran ganda. Sumbangan efektif beban kerja dan konflik peran ganda terhadap stres kerja sebesar 61,1%, dengan rincian sumbangan efektif beban kerja dan konflik peran ganda sebesar 42,5% 19,2%. Terdapat perbedaan stres kerja pada guru perempuan yang sudah menikah, dilihat dari usia.

Abstract

Gaya hidup hedonisme merupakan gaya hidup yang berkaitan dengan aktivitas, minat, dan pikiran yang mengarah pada kesenangan hidup. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi kehidupan hedonisme adalah konsep diri dan faktor lain yang mempengaruhi adalah religiusitas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara konsep diri, religiusitas dan gaya hidup hedonisme pada mahasiswa serta pengaruh dari masing-masing variabel. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah korelasi kuantitatif dengan menggunakan tiga skala konsep diri, religiusitas dan gaya hidup hedonisme. Sampel penelitian mahasiswa aktif strata satu (S1) program studi geografi, teknik industri, dan kesehatan masyarakat Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta tahun 2019-2022 dan dipilih dengan metode cluster random sampling. Sampel sebanyak 342 orang, kemudian penyebaran kuesioner dilakukan secara accidental sampling. Analisis data menggunakan regresi linier berganda. Hipotesis penelitian yaitu ada hubungan yang signifikan antara konsep diri dan religiusitas dengan gaya hidup hedonisme. Hasil menunjukkan ada hubungan yang sangat signifikan antara konsep diri, religiusitas dan gaya hidup hedonisme dengan nilai Sig. 0,000 (p<0,01) artinya hipotesis mayor diterima. Ada hubungan negatif antara konsep diri dan gaya hidup hedonisme dengan nilai Pearson Correlation (r) -0,224 dan Sig. 0,000 (p<0,01) artinya hipotesis minor konsep diri dan gaya hidup hedonisme diterima. Ada hubungan negatif yang sangat signifikan antara religiusitas dan gaya hidup hedonisme dengan nilai Pearson Correlation (r) -0,456 dan Sig. 0,000 (p<0,01) artinya hipotesis minor religiusitas dan gaya hidup hedonisme diterima.

Abstract

The adolescent phase is a vulnerable period in human life because it is a transition period from childhood to adulthood. In this phase, good subjective well-being is needed so that adolescents can fulfill their developmental tasks. One of the efforts to fulfill subjective well-being is through adolescent eudaimonic activities that refer to three components of basic psychological needs, namely the need to be independent, the need to be competent and the need to connect with others. The purpose of this study is to analyze eudaimonic activities that meet the three components of basic psychological needs and subjective well-being. This study used a concurrent mixed method approach with four qualitative questions and the SPANE and BPNFS scales. The results showed there were 21 eudaimonic activities grouped into six activity categories, namely physical activities, entertainment, skills, spiritual, learning and favorite habits. This study recommends further research with explorative methods and a larger sample size. As an implication for adolescent life, parents or families can study eudaimonic activities in adolescents so that the approach and supervision given to adolescents becomes more appropriate.

Abstract

This study examined the impact of reciprocal peer tutoring and multisystemic therapy on reducing offending behaviour in out-of-school adolescents at motor parks in Ogun State, Nigeria. Focusing on peer influence and self-control as moderating variables, the research employed a multistage sampling technique to select participants from three motor parks across different senatorial districts. The study adopted a pre-test-post-test control group quasi-experimental design,with a 3x3x3 factorial matrix involving two experimental groups and one control group. A multistage sampling technique was employed to select 89 out-of-school adolescents from three major motor parks. The treatment lasted eight weeks in which the participants were randomly assigned into two experimental conditions (reciprocal peer tutoring and multisytremic), while the control group received no treatment. The findings revealed a significant main effect of the treatments on reduction of offending behaviour. The moderators, peer influence and self-control also significantly influenced the effectiveness of the treatment. It is concluded that reciprocal peer tutoring and multisystemic therapy are effective in the reduction of offending behaviour among out-of-school adolescents. Peer influence and self-control were also identified as effective.  These findings hold significant implications for counselling practice and policies as it relates to offending behaviour of out-of-school adolescents in Nigeria.

Abstract

This study aims to see how the contribution of school climate and the fulfillment of basic psychological needs to student engagement in elementary school students in Agam district.  This study uses quantitative methods. Student engagement was measured using School Engagement Measure (SEM)- MacArthur with a reliability of 0.869, Comprehensive School Climate Inventory with a reliability of 0.860, and Basic Psychological Needs in the Classroom Scale (BPN-CS) with a reliability of 0.832. The sampling technique in this study used cluster random sampling with a total of 138 elementary students in Agam district. Multiple linear regression analysis is the analytical technique used in this study. The results of this study showed a significance value (p) of 0.00 <0.05, these results indicate that school climate and basic psychological needs simultaneously contribute to student engagement in elementary school students in Agam district. The contribution given is as much as 49.7%. School climate and basic psychological need separately also show a contribution to student engagement, and school climate shows a higher contribution than basic psychological need
