Abstract

The use of the internet to access social media often creates an echo chamber that also reinforces polarization. Continued polarization can reduce opportunities for mutual understanding and empathy towards individuals with different views. The increase in empathy during adolescence and findings that higher empathy in adolescence predicts higher empathy at age 35 necessitate the measurement of psychological empathy, particularly digital empathy, in adolescence to early adulthood. There is a theoretical possibility that digital empathy may be separate from general empathy. There have been no studies that adapt and translate digital empathy measurement tools such as the Digital Communication Empathy Scale (DCES). This study aims to determine the adaptation process of the DCES in adolescence to early adulthood and the existence of good construct validity and adequate reliability in the DCES. The subjects of this quantitative descriptive study numbered 398 participants in the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) test and 403 participants in the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) test. Although the DCES has good construct validity and adequate reliability, the poor adaptation process resulted in the measurement tool not being equivalent to the original version. Therefore, this study found that only 35 of the 36 items passed the EFA test, and five of the six factors were obtained in the CFA test.

Abstract

The Creating a sustainable workplace is not only about reducing the impact of pollution on the environment but also about management support in creating a workplace that supports employee happiness and well-being. This study aims to determine the role of job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and work involvement in increasing happiness at work and impact of happiness at work on improving organizational citizenship behavior in PT INKA (Persero) employees. The research subjects used were employees at PT INKA (Persero), totaling 103 employees. The data collection tools used were scales of job satisfaction, organizational commitment, work involvement, and happiness at work. Data analysis used IBM SPSS 22 software for normality tests, reliability tests, and descriptions of respondents' answers, and Lisrel 8.70 software for validity and reliability tests of instruments and hypothesis testing. The results showed that work engagement, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment significantly increased happiness at work, which in turn can increase organizational citizenship behavior in PT INKA (Persero) employees. Happiness at work felt by individuals will have a positive impact both at the individual level (work engagement, job satisfaction, affective commitment) and the organizational level (performance, such as OCB).

Abstract

Servant leadership plays an important role in determining employee performance through an approach focused on employee needs and empowerment. This study aims to determine the relationship between servant leadership and employees’ performance with employee organizational citizenship behaviour as a moderator variable. The subjects of the study were all 86 employees of the Human Resources Division of Regional Police. Data analysis used Jamovi 2.4.11 with simple regression analysis and moderated multiple regression models. The results of the study showed that servant leadership had a significant impact on improving employee performance at the Human Resources Division of Regional Police which the better the servant leadership obtained from superiors, the higher the employee performance. This study also found that organizational citizenship behaviour could act as a moderator in the relationship between servant leadership and employee performance, but had a significant negative relationship when employees with the high levels of organizational citizenship behaviour and received servant leadership, employee performance tended to decrease due to excessive pressure or fatigue due to the extra contributions that employees make. The results of this study are expected to provide more optimal guidance in implementing servant leadership and encouraging organizational citizenship behaviour, so that it can overall improve employees’ performance.

Abstract

Abstract

Traumatic experiences often have long-term effects on an individual's psychological well-being. When individuals choose to conceal or suppress information related to their trauma, it can worsen their mental health condition. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-concealment tendencies and emotion regulation abilities among individuals who have experienced traumatic events. A quantitative approach was employe using incidental sampling technique. The study involved 177 participants, with an additional 50 participants included for instrument try-out. The instruments used consisted of a self-concealment scale based on Larson's (1990) theory and an emotion regulation scale based on Gross's (2007) theory. Data were analyzed using Pearson's Product Moment correlation, yielding a correlation coefficient (r) of -0.164, with a significance level of 0.029 (p<0.05). The findings indicate a significant negative correlation between self-concealment and emotional regulation. In other words, individuals with better emotional regulation are more likely to engage less in self-concealment and vice versa. Adaptive emotional regulation strategies, such as emotional disclosure, are recommended to reduce tendencies toward self-concealment and enhance emotional well-being.

Abstract

Climate change has become a global issue with not only environmental but also psychological impacts, particularly in the form of climate change anxiety. This anxiety is often experienced by young people, including Generation Z, who are increasingly aware of the threats posed by the climate crisis. On the other hand, self-efficacy is considered an important psychological resource that helps individuals manage stress and challenges. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and climate change anxiety among Generation Z. The research employed a quantitative correlational design with 413 respondents selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected using a self-efficacy scale and a climate change anxiety scale, and analyzed through Pearson correlation, and Spearman’s rho. The results showed that self-efficacy did not significantly correlate with climate change anxiety (p > 0.05), indicating that high or low self-efficacy does not directly affect the level of anxiety about climate change. These findings suggest that climate change anxiety is more strongly influenced by other factors, such as exposure to information, risk perception, or future-oriented distress. The implication of this study is that interventions to address climate change anxiety should not rely solely on strengthening self-efficacy, but also consider enhancing social support, environmental literacy, and positive emotions such as hope.

Abstract

This decade, Emotional Behavior Problems (EBP) among teenagers shows a prevalence rate that tends to be high both globally and nationally. Self-efficacy and school ownership are assessed as predictors of EBP, so this research aims to determine the negative role of self-efficacy and school ownership on Emotional Behavioral Problems (EBP) of adolescents who are junior high school (SMP) students. A total of 169 students of SMPN X and SMPN Y in Yogyakarta City were participants in this research. Participants were taken using purposive sampling technique. The instruments used in this research are three scales which include the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), General Self-Efficacy (GSE), Psychological Sense of School Membership (PSSM). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that self-efficacy and sense of school belonging simultaneously could not predict EBP. Meanwhile, separate predictor analysis was able to predict EBP. Additional analyzes showed no significant differences in EBP by gender, grade level, or family condition

Abstract

The stroop task is a method of measuring selective attention that demonstrates automatic and controlled cognitive processes. The stroop task as a digitalized measuring tool makes it easier for users to administer and score efficiently. However, this digital stroop task is not yet available in the Indonesian version. Meanwhile, the use of English has not been fully mastered by layers of Indonesian society, which causes the risk of less than optimal test results. This research is a non-experimental quantitative research which aims to test the psychometric properties using a test-retest approach at a time interval of 7 days on the Indonesian language Stroop task measuring instrument in early adult individuals with the criteria of being 18-25 years old and not color blind. The reliability test was analyzed using the ICC formula and strengthened with the Cronbach's alpha internal consistency test. The results of research conducted on 170 respondents using accidental sampling showed good ICC coefficient results (r = 0.87, 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.64, 0.93) and a Cronbach alpha coefficient of (α = 0.93). Thus, the stroop task in Indonesian has satisfactory psychometric properties and is suitable for use in the Indonesian population.
