Abstract

The curriculum is the basic structure in education that guides what, how, and why learning takes place. Learning theories provide an important psychological and pedagogical foundation for designing and developing curricula to be more effective and relevant. This article reviews the current literature on the relationship between curriculum analysis and development and learning theories, including behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, connectivism, and adult learning theory. The main objective is to evaluate how these theories are integrated into curriculum development, supporting and inhibiting factors, and recommendations for adaptive and innovative curriculum practices. The method used is a systematic literature review of articles from international and national databases from 2010 to 2025. The findings show that although current curriculum construction is largely influenced by constructivism and active learning theory, the application of more formal theories such as behaviorism and connectivism also appears, especially in the context of higher education and online learning. The main obstacles include a lack of understanding of the theory by curriculum designers, limited resources, cultural resistance, and technical challenges. The conclusion states that effective curriculum development requires in-depth contextual analysis, explicit integration of learning theory, stakeholder involvement, and continuous evaluation.

Abstract

This article reinterprets Cederman et al.’s (2025) model of ethno-national configurations as not only an explanatory framework for civil and interstate wars but also as a diagnostic tool for conflict prevention and peacebuilding. By integrating theories of nationalism, ethnic conflict, and peace and conflict resolution, the paper demonstrates how state–nation incongruence, captured in five configurations United Home Rule, United Alien Rule, Divided Home Rule, Partial Home Rule (irredentism), and Divided Alien Rule generates different types of grievances and security dilemmas. We argue that these structural typologies can serve two distinct functions: (1) ex post analysis of conflicts, explaining why and how wars emerge; and (2) ex ante diagnosis of latent threats, offering early warning for peace practitioners. The paper further develops a Conflict–Peace Framework that links configurations to specific institutional remedies, ranging from power-sharing and autonomy to cross-border governance and international mediation. The contribution is twofold: (a) bridging political science and peace studies by transforming a conflict-centered typology into a peace-oriented architecture, and (b) proposing an analytical map for both scholars and practitioners to anticipate and resolve ethno-national conflicts.

Abstract

The role of local wisdom as an instrument of peace has become increasingly relevant in addressing conflicts within Indonesia’s multicultural society. This study analyzes three forms of local wisdom: the philosophy of adat bersendi syarak, syarak bersendi Kitabullah among the Malay Riau community, Tri Hita Karana in Bali, and Pela Gandong in Maluku. Using a qualitative library research method, the study applies Johan Galtung’s conflict and peace theory as well as John Paul Lederach’s peacebuilding from below to examine how local cultural practices contribute to conflict resolution and peacebuilding. Findings reveal that each tradition provides distinctive yet interconnected approaches: Malay Riau emphasizes deliberation and social reconciliation through adat institutions, Tri Hita Karana stresses the balance of spiritual, social, and ecological relations, while Pela Gandong fosters solidarity and interfaith brotherhood across villages. The analysis further demonstrates that these traditions collectively embody principles of harmony, consensus, and collectivism while differing in their religio-cultural foundations and practical mechanisms. Through Galtung’s framework, these practices can be understood as efforts to build positive peace, while Lederach’s perspective highlights the significance of grassroots actors and local legitimacy in sustaining peace. The study concludes that revitalizing local wisdom as a peace strategy is essential to strengthening social cohesion, ensuring national stability, and providing models for global peacebuilding.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the impact of implementing a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model grounded in a scientific approach on enhancing students' critical thinking skills in the topic of reaction rates. The primary issue addressed is the students' limited ability to think critically when grasping abstract chemical concepts. The research employs a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population consists of eleventh-grade science students at SMA Negeri 1 Batauga, with a sample of 40 individuals selected via purposive sampling and divided into a treatment class (20 students) and a comparison class (20 students). Research instruments include essay tests to assess critical thinking skills, observation sheets for learning activities, and student response questionnaires. Data analysis involves N-gain calculations to measure score improvements, along with t-tests to identify significant differences between groups at a 0.05 significance level. Findings reveal that the average post-test score for critical thinking in the treatment class (13.55) exceeds that of the comparison class (10.30). The average N-gain value for the treatment class is 0.28, surpassing the comparison class's 0.20, though both fall into the low category. The t-test yields a t-calculated = 2.230 > t-table = 2.024, indicating a significant difference between the groups. Furthermore, student activities during the science-based PBL instruction reached an outstanding category (82%), and student responses achieved an average score of 2.96 in the good category.

Abstract

This study analyzes the dual role of social media in driving social polarization and peaceful counter-narrative efforts in Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach and literature study of secondary data, this research examines the mechanisms of social media as an accelerator of polarization and evaluates the effectiveness of counter-narrative strategies. The results indicate that polarization is accelerated by the spread of hoaxes, algorithmically reinforced echo chambers, and the exploitation of identity politics, all of which threaten national integration. On the other hand, social media also proves to be an effective tool for peaceful counter-narratives, as demonstrated by case studies of the Peace Ambassador Communities in East Kalimantan and West Java. The success of their strategies lies in contextualizing narratives of nationalism, religious moderation, and humanity. The study concludes that the effectiveness of counter-narratives is highly dependent on cross-sector collaboration and the improvement of standardized digital literacy to build societal digital resilience.

Abstract

Digital transformation provides significant opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to strengthen their brand identity and expand market reach. This study analyzes the impact of digital transformation on brand identity development of unbranded MSMEs in Tanjung Mulia Village, Langkat Regency. Using a qualitative case study method through interviews, observations, documentation, and focus group discussions, the research focused on Handayani Crispy, a traditional snack business without an official brand. The findings show that digital interventions—such as creating a website, providing digital literacy training, and introducing a consistent brand identity—significantly enhanced product visibility, consumer trust, and the owner’s self-confidence. Consumers responded positively to the branded products, viewing them as more professional and suitable as gifts. However, challenges remain, including limited digital literacy, unstable internet infrastructure, and the owner’s time constraints. This study highlights the importance of integrating digital technology with branding strategies to empower MSMEs in rural areas. Recommendations include continuous digital literacy training, packaging innovation, product diversification, social media utilization, and collaboration with local stakeholders to ensure sustainable digital transformation.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in Indonesian language learning, particularly in writing short stories. Several factors contribute to this issue, including students’ limited understanding of short story writing, their lack of comprehension of intrinsic story elements, and their low writing skills. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the Project-Based Learning (PBL) model using pop-up book media on students’ short story writing skills and learning outcomes. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of two classes: Class IV A as the experimental class, which received instruction through the PBL model and pop-up book media, and Class IV B as the control class, which received conventional instruction. Data collection techniques included a short story writing test and a learning achievement test in the form of multiple-choice and essay items. The results showed that the average score of short story writing skills in the experimental class increased from a pre-test score of 64.8 to a post-test score of 82.4, while the control class increased from 63.2 to 71.5. Regarding learning outcomes, the average post-test score of the experimental class was 84.6, compared to 73.8 in the control class. A t-test indicated that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control classes, both in short story writing skills and in learning outcomes. Thus, the use of the Project-Based Learning model assisted by pop-up book media was proven to effectively improve the short story writing skills and learning outcomes of fourth-grade elementary school students

Abstract

The development of student intelligence in higher education often faces challenges because the education system consistently prioritizes cognitive aspects while neglecting other dimensions, such as emotional, social, and creative components. This situation raises the question of how pedagogical strategies can enhance students' intellectual diversity, thereby making the learning process more comprehensive. This study aims to examine students' views on the development of intelligence during the learning process in higher education while providing insights into effective and adaptive learning practices. The method used is a literature review by reviewing scientific articles, research reports, and selected academic literature published between 2013 and 2023. The analysis used a content analysis approach through the stages of synthesis, classification, and data reduction. The results of the study indicate that although learning in higher education is still dominated by a cognitive orientation, emotional, social, and intrapersonal intelligence have been shown to play a significant role in supporting students' academic and personal success. The ideas of Gardner, Vygotsky, and Goleman emphasize the importance of holistic learning that integrates social interaction, emotional regulation, creativity, and ethical and spiritual dimensions. The contribution of this article lies in its efforts to integrate the theories of multiple intelligences, emotional intelligence, and constructivism into a practical framework for developing holistic learning in higher education, as well as providing concrete recommendations for lecturers to expand assessment and learning strategies beyond cognitive biases.

Abstract

This research is a quasi-experimental study aimed at determining the effect of the think-pair-share method in the guided inquiry learning model on student motivation and learning outcomes. The independent variable in this research is the think-pair-share method in the guided inquiry learning model. Dependent variables are learning motivation and learning outcomes in acid-base material. The sample in this research, which was selected by simple random sampling, consisted of 2 classes, which were divided into an experimental class and a control class, each consisting of 32 students, determined by using a simple random sampling technique. The research data were obtained using questionnaires of learning motivation and tests of learning outcomes in acid-base material, which were analyzed by the t-test for learning motivation and the Mann-Whitney test for learning outcomes. The result of the hypothesis was t-calculated = 1.739 at α = 0.05, obtained t-table = 1.669, so that t-calculated > t-table. It is shown that there is an effect of the think-pair-share method in the guided inquiry learning model on student learning motivation. For the learning outcomes, Z-calculated = 3.31 at α = 0.05, obtained Z-table = 1.64. Since Z-calculated > Z-table, therefore H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. It is shown that there is an effect of the think-pair-share method in the guided inquiry learning model towards student learning outcomes.

Abstract

National security is no longer confined solely to military threats but has expanded to encompass social, economic, cultural, and political dimensions. Bandung City, as a multicultural and metropolitan area, faces challenges of social conflict arising from urbanization, inequality, and diverse identities. The zero-conflict approach emerges as a preventive strategy emphasizing early detection and the resolution of root social problems to foster stability and harmony. This study aims to explore how the pentahelix collaboration model engaging the government, academia, business sector, community, and media can be implemented to prevent and manage social conflicts in Bandung City and how it contributes to national security. Through literature review and empirical data analysis, this article demonstrates that the pentahelix collaboration effectively creates a responsive and inclusive social ecosystem. Programs such as the Integrated Team for Social Conflict Management (Timdu PKS), Conflict-Alert Neighborhood Units (RW Siaga Konflik), Harmony Villages (Kampung Kerukunan), and the Community Early Detection Forum (FKDM) exemplify multi-stakeholder engagement in early detection, mediation, and public education. The government acts as a regulator, academia provides data and scientific analysis, the business sector supports economic empowerment through CSR initiatives, communities serve as key actors in social mediation, and the media disseminates peace narratives. The findings reveal that the zero-conflict strategy through the pentahelix model not only contributes to local social resilience but also strengthens national stability both structurally and culturally. This model serves as a data-driven and cross-sectoral collaborative policy reference that can be replicated by other regions to achieve sustainable national security.
