Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of character education and religious moderation at SMP Negeri 3 Turi Sleman. The research focuses on the programs, implementation, evaluation, and integration of character and moderation values within Islamic Education (PAI) learning. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that character education is implemented through programs such as JAGLING (Environmental Care), Pendidikan Khas Jogja (PKJ) emphasizing the value of “ngajeni” (respect for elders), and disciplinary practices like morning assemblies and congregational prayers. In terms of religious moderation, the school organizes inclusive activities such as Friday Islamic studies for Muslim students and worship sessions for non-Muslims. Program evaluation is routinely conducted through monthly meetings and student participation records. The results indicate that the integration of character education and religious moderation has created a harmonious, religious, and tolerant school culture. These programs strengthen Islamic education by shaping students who are ethical, socially aware, and religiously moderate.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the motivation of students participating in martial arts clubs (UKM) under the Student Sports Federation (FORSA) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with four informants representing various martial arts disciplines. The findings reveal that students’ motivation is predominantly driven by intrinsic factors such as interest, personal satisfaction, and the desire to develop physical and mental abilities. Extrinsic motivations, including social support, peer encouragement, and opportunities for achievement, also reinforce students’ enthusiasm for active participation. Martial arts activities within FORSA offer extensive benefits physically, mentally, and socially—by enhancing fitness, building character, and fostering soft skills such as discipline, leadership, and self-confidence. Overall, FORSA plays a crucial role as a platform for character development and strengthening the identity of resilient, sportsmanlike, and integrity-driven students.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the patterns causing an increase in mental disorders among adolescents in Ponorogo Regency, as well as to identify the contributing factors and appropriate treatment strategies in the local socio-cultural context. The background of this study is based on the increasing number of cases of mental disorders among adolescents in East Java, including Ponorogo, as recorded in the 2022 Riskesdas (Basic Health Research) that 5.5% of Indonesian adolescents experience mental health problems. The study used a qualitative method with a case study design in Danyang Hamlet and Paringan Village. Data was obtained through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of families of adolescents with mental disorders, community leaders, and managers of the Margo Widodo Mental Health Therapy Centre. The results of the study show that the emergence of mental disorders in adolescents follows a pattern that begins with mild psychological symptoms, which are exacerbated by emotional pressure, family conflicts, economic problems, and bullying in school or boarding school environments. An unsupportive social environment exacerbates the condition, leading to severe disorders and even suicide. The study concludes that the increase in mental disorders cases among adolescents is influenced by a combination of personal vulnerability and environmental pressures, so effective prevention needs to be based on the family, strengthening emotional literacy, providing alternative activities, and support from others.

Abstract

This study develops a smart environment roadmap for Pangkalpinang by learning from the experiences of Jakarta and Makassar. Smart environment is positioned as a key pillar of smart city development because it supports sustainable management of air, water, waste, energy, and disaster risk. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with comparative case study design. Data are obtained from scientific literature, government documents, and official publications related to smart environment initiatives in the three cities, then analysed using content analysis and cross-case comparison. The findings show that Pangkalpinang is still at an early stage of smart environment development, characterised by limited digital infrastructure, fragmented environmental data, and low levels of digital participation. Jakarta represents a technology-driven model with strong data integration, while Makassar prioritises community participation and context-sensitive innovation. Based on these lessons, the study proposes a phased roadmap consisting of twelve programmes (EN15–1 to EN15–12) that gradually strengthen monitoring infrastructure, data integration, public awareness, smart waste management, smart energy, and coastal environmental monitoring. The roadmap is expected to guide local governments in planning realistic and sustainable smart environment development.

Abstract

This study stems from crucial issues related to the degradation of social sensitivity and the escalation of intolerance among students, particularly in the context of social media penetration and increasingly complex interpersonal interactions. Religious education is abstracted as a fundamental means for internalizing values of moderation and character building that uphold diversity. The purpose of this study is to investigate the contribution of religious education in constructing tolerance awareness among students in the secondary school ecosystem. This study adopted a quantitative methodology with an explanatory survey design, involving 120 student respondents who were analyzed using a Likert scale questionnaire. The validity and reliability of the data were strengthened through classroom observations, interviews with educators, and a review of curriculum documentation. Descriptive evaluation revealed that the implementation of religious education was at a “good” level, while tolerance awareness among students was at a “high” level. The results of simple linear regression analysis indicate a significant statistical determination between the variables of religious education and tolerance awareness, as shown by a significance value of 0.001. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination of 0.42 underlines that 42% of the variability in tolerant attitudes can be explained by the quality of religious education implementation. The discussion of this study emphasizes that religious education that applies dialogical, reflective, and situational understanding-based methods effectively improves students' capacity to appreciate diversity and foster peaceful relationships. Furthermore, the example set by educators has proven to be a crucial factor in instilling values of tolerance in students. The essence of this study's findings concludes that religious education makes a substantial and crucial contribution to fostering awareness of tolerance in students. Therefore, its implementation requires continuous development with a moderate, humancentered, and inclusive approach to enrich social character in a culturally diverse educational ecosystem.

Abstract

Vaginal discharge is a common reproductive health issue experienced by women of reproductive age. It may be physiological or pathological, and one of the factors influencing the occurrence of pathological discharge is vulvar hygiene practices. Inadequate genital hygiene—such as wearing damp underwear, improper cleansing techniques, or the use of unsuitable cleansing products—can increase the risk of infection and lead to abnormal vaginal discharge. Therefore, proper vulvar hygiene plays an essential role in maintaining women’s reproductive health. This study aims to examine the relationship between vulvar hygiene practices and the incidence of vaginal discharge among women of reproductive age. The research employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 19 women of reproductive age selected through a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire assessing vulvar hygiene practices and the incidence of vaginal discharge. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that nearly half of the respondents demonstrated good vulvar hygiene practices (47.4%), and the majority did not experience vaginal discharge (78.9%). The Chi-Square analysis revealed a significant association between vulvar hygiene practices and the incidence of vaginal discharge, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that better vulvar hygiene practices are associated with a lower risk of developing vaginal discharge. In conclusion, proper vulvar hygiene contributes to the prevention of vaginal discharge among women of reproductive age. Continuous education and health promotion efforts are necessary to enhance women’s knowledge and awareness of the importance of maintaining genital hygiene as a preventive measure against reproductive health problems.

Abstract

The Smart City concept has become a dominant paradigm in Indonesia's urban development, with the Smart Economy pillar playing a vital role in empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as the backbone of the national economy. However, the implementation of this concept reveals significant disparities across regions. This study aims to comparatively analyze Smart Economy implementation strategies in three major cities: DKI Jakarta, Surabaya, and Medan, and identify the determinants of their success and failure. This research employs a qualitative approach using a comparative document study method. Data were collected through the analysis of policy documents, government reports, and relevant scientific publications, without conducting field interviews. The results indicate three distinct models: (1) DKI Jakarta successfully implements a digital ecosystem integration model through the Jakpreneur program linked within the JAKI super-app; (2) Surabaya succeeds with a community-based economic resilience model through the e-Peken market policy innovation, which mandates civil servants to purchase from local MSMEs; and (3) Medan continues to face challenges regarding inter-agency policy fragmentation and low digital readiness among business owners. The study concludes that the success of a Smart Economy is not solely determined by advanced technology adoption, but by leadership that translates vision into concrete market policies, the existence of a centralized orchestration platform, and an institutionalized collaborative ecosystem. These findings recommend that developing cities like Medan prioritize service platform integration and market intervention policies prior to pursuing mass digitalization.
