Abstract

This article aims to analyze the nature and principles of education according to Sayyid Ahmad Khan and Immanuel Kant and to examine their relevance to the educational system in Indonesia. This study employs a literature review method by examining various sources related to the educational thought of these two figures, which are then analyzed through a comparative and critical approach. The findings indicate that Sayyid Ahmad Khan emphasized education as a means of intellectual development grounded in Islamic law (Sharia) and social moral values, while also encouraging openness to scientific and technological advancement. In contrast, Immanuel Kant viewed education as a process of humanizing individuals through the development of reason, experience, and responsible morality. Both perspectives demonstrate significant relevance to the Indonesian educational system, particularly in fostering the holistic development of learners, integrating moral values with rational thinking, and adapting to contemporary societal changes, as reflected in national education policies. Therefore, the ideas of these two thinkers can serve as a philosophical foundation for developing an adaptive, humanistic, and character-oriented educational framework.

Abstract

Character education is closely related to Hindu Religious Education. Vocational high school (SMK) students tend to focus more on learning that is related to the competencies they possess. Initial observations at the school indicated that the quality of the learning environment and positive communication within the school were still lacking, which could affect students' learning motivation. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine how well the quality of the learning environment and positive communication influence motivation to learn Hindu Religion, and to identify the positive and significant relationship between the quality of the learning environment and positive communication simultaneously in improving students’ motivation to learn Hindu Religion at SMK Negeri 3 Bangli. This research is a correlational study using a quantitative approach, with data collected through questionnaires. The sample was determined using a simple random sampling technique from a population of 138 students. A sample of 50% of the population was selected randomly, resulting in 69 research respondents. The instrument tests conducted in this study included validity and reliability tests. Assumption tests included the Normality Test, Multicollinearity Test, and Heteroscedasticity Test, while hypothesis testing used the t-test, Product Moment test, and Multiple Correlation test. Data analysis was carried out using IBM SPSS 27.0 for Windows. The results of the study showed that, among the 69 student respondents, the average score for the quality of the learning environment and positive communication reached a maximum of 75%. Based on the established score interpretation criteria, this achievement falls into the “Good” category. These results indicate that most components of the learning environment, including both physical aspects such as classroom facilities and infrastructure, and non-physical aspects such as teacher-student and student-student relationships, as well as the academic atmosphere, have functioned optimally in supporting the learning process. This figure also reflects that the learning process has been dominated by healthy two-way dialogue and that positive communication has been implemented. Nevertheless, the remaining 25% suggests that there is still room for improvement in enhancing the quality of the learning environment and positive communication by the school. There is a correlation between the learning environment, positive communication, and motivation to learn Hindu Religion. This is indicated by an R value of 0.678 and an R Square value of 0.460, which falls within the coefficient range of 0.60–0.678 and is categorized as a strong correlation.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were: 1) To determine whether hand puppets can influence story listening skills in early childhood education at RA Al-Wardah. 2) To determine whether the use of hand puppets can improve children's ability to listen to stories. This quantitative study employed an experimental method with a pre-experimental design. Data collection used a pretest-posttest. The subjects in this study were Group B at RA Al-Wardah Pandeglang. Class B4 served as the experimental class, with no comparison group, pretest-posttest. Data analysis used descriptive analysis, inferential analysis, and normality testing (Shapiro-Wilk test). The results of this study indicate that, based on SPSS version 31, the hypothesis test using a paired sample t-test yielded a t-value of 0.71, with a significance value of 0.000 <0.05. Therefore, based on the test criteria, it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, indicating that educational puzzle games influence children's cognitive abilities. This is further supported by the results of the paired sample t-test, which showed a Cohen's d value of 3.58, categorized as having a very large influence.

Abstract

This study is based on the importance of mastering pronunciation to support students’ reading skills in EFL contexts, as well as the role of translanguaging strategies in helping students’ understanding. The aim of this study is to analyze the implementation of translanguaging strategies used by a teacher in teaching pronunciation at SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan. This study uses a descriptive qualitative design, with one English teacher as the subject, and the data were collected through interviews. The data were analyzed using an interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the teacher applied two main translanguaging strategies, namely translation and L1 scaffolding. Translation was found to be the most dominant strategy, while L1 scaffolding was used to support students in understanding concepts, materials, and the pronunciation of English words. These strategies help students understand the material better, reduce ambiguity in meaning, and improve the effectiveness of pronunciation learning during reading activities. The findings imply that the strategic use of translanguaging can be an effective approach in teaching pronunciation for EFL students.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has greatly influenced the lives of students, especially in the use of online games. Excessive online gaming among students can lead to addiction and affect their moral behavior, discipline, social interaction, and learning achievement. This study aims to analyze the forms of online games played by students, the role of teachers and parents in overcoming online game addiction, and the impact of online game addiction on the morals of students in Class IX A at SMPN 3 Sambas. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers, parents, and students. The data analysis techniques used were data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was tested through triangulation and member checking. The findings indicate that the most frequently played online games among students are Mobile Legends, Free Fire, PUBG Mobile, and e-Football. Teachers and parents play important roles in addressing students’ online game addiction through supervision, guidance, restrictions on gadget usage, and religious approaches. Online game addiction negatively affects students’ morals, including decreased discipline, the habit of using harsh language, reduced respect toward parents and teachers, neglect of worship obligations, and declining academic performance. Therefore, collaboration between schools and parents is essential in guiding students to use technology wisely and positively.

Abstract

The digital era is characterized by open access to information and technological advances that have a significant impact on children's growth and development. While technology offers convenience in learning and developing self-potential, it also presents challenges in the form of moral decline and a weakening of adab (moral values). According to al-Attas, education is the process of instilling and cultivating adab (moral character) within an individual, known in his terminology as ta'dib. In this regard, the family plays a crucial role in education. This research uses a qualitative literature review approach. The research results show that the concept of ta'dib, which was deeply initiated by Naquib al-Attas, has significant relevance when applied in a family education environment. The implementation of ta'dib in family education is not only limited to the transfer of academic knowledge, but also includes moral and spiritual development for all family members. Ta'dib-based family education instills Islamic values, ethical principles, and serves as a moral foundation in the formation of children's character in the family in this digital era. Some ways parents shape children's character in the digital era include providing positive examples to children, providing guidance on the use of devices and digital media, monitoring and limiting time, selecting appropriate content, open communication, technology education and digital literacy, teaching online ethics, encouraging creativity and positive use, engaging in joint activities, controlling websites by ensuring children do not visit age-inappropriate sites.

Abstract

Inclusive education affirms that every learner, including those with disabilities, has the right to equal learning opportunities in an environment that embraces diversity. In this context, the church plays a strategic role as a faith community that not only provides spiritual ministry but also shapes a social culture that influences how society understands human dignity. This article critically examines the church’s role in inclusive education using a literature review approach. The study integrates theological, pedagogical, psychological, and social perspectives to assess the church’s potential in building a welcoming, participatory, and stigma-free environment for everyone, particularly people with disabilities. The findings indicate that the church can contribute through advocacy for congregational education, pastoral accompaniment, strengthening collaboration with schools, and providing spaces for equal participation. However, theology remains exclusive. Therefore, the church needs to move from an approach based on charity toward participatory justice in order to truly become a community that supports inclusive education in a tangible and sustainable way.
