Abstract

Rejung, guritan, and tadut are three types of oral traditions of the Pasemah people which in the past played an important role in social and religious life. However, due to various factors, the existence of this oral tradition is currently experiencing a decline, even threatened with extinction. This research aims to conduct an initial study of the existence of the rejung, guritan, and tadut oral traditions in the Pasemah Bengkulu community. The research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection was carried out using in-depth interview techniques, observation, and documentation and analyzed using the Milles & Huberman interactive model. The results of the research are: 1) the Rejung oral tradition can still be found in every region of the Pasemah community, although in number it has decreased. Currently, the Rejung tradition is no longer routinely carried out at weddings, but is often displayed at official government events and is disseminated through various social media; 2) The oral tradition of Guritan in Pasemah Bengkulu is no longer displayed when there is a death disaster because it has been replaced by religious lectures. Meanwhile, speakers are very difficult to find (only 3-5 people). Guritan poetry is very difficult to inherit/learn because it is very long and has complicated patterns; 3) the oral tradition of tadut has also not been played for a long time when there is a death disaster, namely since the increasing popularity of religious lectures or tabligh calamity events. Currently, followers can still be found in several areas such as Kedurang, Padang Guci, and Kinal, but their numbers are very small.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to review Bikhu Parekh's thoughts on the categorization of multiculturalism. Using the literature review method, namely by reviewing available library sources, both off-line and on-line sources. The results of this study resulted in the need to review the multiculturalism categorization of Bikhu Parekh which is often used in multiculturalism studies in Indonesia. First, the categorization of Parek monks is no longer relevant in the current context, both globally and locally. Second, the Multicultural Bikhu Parekh tends to be Western oriented, tends to ignore multicultural forms in various parts of the world. Third, multiculturalism in the Indonesian context has its own characteristics and uniqueness, different from the multicultural characteristics that exist in the West which are the fulcrum of the multicultural categorization of Bikhu Parekh. Multiculturalism in Indonesia is formed naturally. From the beginning, Indonesia, which was formerly known as the Dutch East Indies, was a pluralistic, multi-ethnic society which later formed Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the results of the analysis of the essential basic competencies of Indonesian history subjects in the emergency curriculum period based on the principles of UKRK (Urgency, Continuity, Relevance, Usability). The syllabus used by Indonesian history teachers at the beginning of the pandemic and in the transition after the issuance of Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Republik No 719/P Tahun 2020 still uses the syllabus made during the conditions before Covid-19. As a result, learning Indonesian history sourced from the syllabus is irrelevant to current conditions. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. Data collection was carried out by means of observation, document analysis, interviews, and literature study. The results showed that the Basic Competence (KD) contained in the previous syllabus was a collection of KD made with normal living conditions. The Covid-19 pandemic has forced the learning pattern that was originally in the classroom to change to Distance Learning (PJJ). So, KD in normal conditions syllabus is still used, so this is irrelevant and very difficult for students. Therefore, this study recommends the results of essential KD analysis in compulsory history subjects. So that it can be used by history teachers throughout Indonesia.

Abstract

Historical education heavily relies on narrative texts, engaging students in the complexity of the past and societal evolution, demanding critical thinking to discern fact from interpretation. This research confronts a fundamental challenge: should historical narratives be unquestioningly accepted, or should skepticism prevail? At its core, historical thinking transcends rote memorization, demanding the critical analysis and interpretation of historical events and sources. The study seeks to bridge the gap between historical texts, students' reading motivations, and robust historical thinking skills. It delves into how students with varied motivations engage with historical texts, offering insights for pedagogical strategies. Using a true experiment within a one-shot case study design, the research investigates incorporating discourse analysis techniques into historical texts. Customized for groups based on reading motivations, the method reveals distinct patterns in historical thinking skills. The research uncovers insights into the relationship between students' reading motivations and historical thinking abilities. Notably, highly motivated students excel in recognizing historical significance and ethical dimensions. In contrast, low motivation students struggle with historical evidence evaluation. High motivation students comprehend continuity and change well, connecting past events with the present human experience. However, all groups face challenges in causal analysis and diverse historical perspectives. These findings indicate the need for targeted support across varied reading motivations to enhance historical thinking skills and foster a deeper understanding of history.

Abstract

The transformation of social studies learning in the 21st century era is indeed necessary to continue to be carried out, one of which is how to integrate technology into social studies learning in schools. This is because integrated social studies learning by accompanying the effective use of technology can add an important dimension to student learning. Efforts to integrate technology into social studies learning can be done through the TPACK approach and the SAMR model. Both models offer frameworks that can assist social studies teachers in adopting technology effectively in social studies learning in the classroom. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a literature method involving the analysis and synthesis of relevant literature to explain or understand this study. The implications of the SMAR model TPACK approach allow social studies teachers to increase student involvement and understanding of social studies learning materials. This certainly creates a richer and more meaningful learning experience, as well as helping students develop critical thinking skills that are relevant to today's 21st century competency demands.
