Abstract

The implementation of remission policy for corruption convicts under Law Number 22 of 2022 on Corrections presents a complex challenge within Indonesia’s legal system. Remission in extraordinary crimes like corruption should not be seen merely as an administrative right but must be analyzed through the lens of substantive justice, social accountability, and restitution of state losses. Using a normative-empirical qualitative approach, through legal analysis, literature review, and interviews with criminal law scholars and practitioners. This study finds that remission remains largely uniform and administrative, lacking consideration of key substantive criteria such as asset recovery or social risk assessment. The absence of a Government Regulation as a technical derivative of the law further exacerbates inconsistency in implementation across institutions. From a public policy perspective, this illustrates a significant implementation gap, while from Thomas Aquinas’s theory of legal justice, the policy falls short of achieving general justice and the bonum commune. Reform is thus needed, including the application of proportionality principles, classification of offenses, substantive evaluation indicators, and the engagement of multi-agency actors. Integrating public policy with philosophical justice theory affirms that remission should function as part of a legal rehabilitation mechanism—respecting inmates’ rights while fulfilling public justice and moral responsibility. Such reforms are vital for restoring the legitimacy of Indonesia’s correctional system and advancing comprehensive anti-corruption efforts.

Abstract

Post-colonialism is still a debate and an interesting phenomenon, as the development of civilization cannot be separated from education. This research aims to determine the development of post-colonial civilization from the standpoint of educational philosophy. This study uses a qualitative method, a literary approach sourced from books and journals, and thematic analysis. The development of post-colonial civilization still creates westernized thinking. From the Islamic perspective, religion is separated from other fields or secularism. The secular education system was formed due to colonialism in most Muslim-majority countries. They are reconstructing Islamic education's philosophy on a gradual and sustainable education transformation and prioritizing religious moderation in Indonesia. The post-colonial perspective can create an Islamic education system. It is oriented towards developing an Islamic worldview as an enlightening civilization. The implications of an Islamic education system based on religious moderation and enlightenment can help a civilization develop while avoiding new colonialism.

Abstract

Historical literacy is crucial in the teaching of social studies to enhance students' understanding of historical aspects. In this research, an analysis was conducted regarding the implementation of historical literacy development in social studies teaching at Junior High Schools in Bandung City. The research method used was qualitative descriptive to identify the efforts of historical literacy development by teachers and to identify the challenges faced. Data was obtained through observations and interviews with teachers and students at Kartika XIX-2 Junior High School in Bandung City. The results of the research indicate that teachers have been developing historical literacy through classroom activities focusing on historical investigation, historical writing, and the development of historical understanding. However, some challenges persist, such as low student participation, time constraints within the social studies curriculum, and the need for improvement in teachers' pedagogical skills. To enhance historical literacy in the future, it is recommended to utilize technology, develop contextual teaching materials, and implement a multiliteracy learning approach. Thus, it is hoped that students can be more active and critical in understanding social studies subjects with a relevant historical context to contemporary life. This research has implications for the development of social studies curriculum in the future to pay more attention to integrating historical literacy as an integral part of social studies learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and self-efficacy with psychological well-being among adolescents living in Aisyiyah Orphanage Kudus. The participants were 80 adolescents aged 16–22 who had resided in the orphanage for over 10 years. The proposed hypotheses stated that both social support and self-efficacy are positively related to psychological well-being. This quantitative research employed a correlational survey method with purposive sampling. Instruments included three Likert-based psychological scales for each variable. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression and Pearson correlation through SPSS version 26. The results indicated no significant relationship between social support and self-efficacy with adolescents' psychological well-being, leading to the rejection of both major and minor hypotheses. Nevertheless, most participants were in the moderate category across all variables, suggesting a relatively stable yet suboptimal psychological condition.
