Abstract

This study examines the level of compliance of Muhammadiyah members at Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar in using Islamic banking services and identifies the factors influencing such compliance. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving students and academic community members. The findings indicate that the level of compliance in using Islamic banks remains relatively low, despite the institution’s strong Islamic values. This condition is primarily influenced by limited Islamic financial literacy, misconceptions regarding the differences between Islamic and conventional banks, environmental and social influences, and perceived convenience of conventional banking services. From an Islamic perspective, compliance in financial transactions is closely linked to religious awareness and adherence to Sharia principles. Therefore, strengthening Islamic financial education, enhancing the Islamic campus culture, and fostering collaboration between universities and Islamic banks are essential strategies to improve Sharia banking compliance within Islamic higher education institutions

Abstract

Reading comprehension is an essential competence in learning Indonesian, especially in understanding narrative texts. However, some students still experience difficulties in comprehending explicit and implicit meanings and in evaluating the content of texts. These problems indicate the need for studies that analyze students’ reading comprehension based on cognitive levels. This study aims to analyze the level of reading comprehension ability of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Cibalong in narrative texts based on Barrett’s Taxonomy and to describe the characteristics of students’ comprehension at each level. This study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive design. The subjects consisted of 32 students from class VII D selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through a written test consisting of five essay questions representing the literal, reorganization, inferential, evaluative, and appreciative levels. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques by calculating scores, mean values, and percentage categories of students’ abilities. The results showed that the students’ average score was 80, which falls into the Good category. A total of 43.75% of students were in the Very Good category, 34.38% in the Good category, and 21.88% in the Fair category. The highest achievement was found at the literal and reorganization levels, while variations in ability were still observed at the inferential, evaluative, and appreciative levels. These findings indicate the need to strengthen learning activities that emphasize the development of critical and reflective thinking skills. Abstract

Reading comprehension is a fundamental skill that plays an important role in supporting elementary students’ learning achievement. However, some students still experience difficulties in understanding explicit and implicit meanings and in evaluating the content of reading texts. This condition indicates the need for a systematic analysis of students’ reading comprehension based on cognitive levels. This study aims to describe the reading comprehension ability of fifth-grade students at SDN Merarmukti based on Barrett’s Taxonomy, to identify the distribution of students’ abilities at each level, and to determine the dominant and weakest levels of comprehension. This study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive design. The subjects consisted of 15 fifth-grade students who were selected using total sampling. Data were collected through a written test in the form of essay questions covering five levels of Barrett’s Taxonomy: literal, reorganization, inferential, evaluative, and appreciative. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques by calculating scores, final grades, and percentage categories of students’ abilities. The results showed that 53.33% of students were in the Very Good category, 6.67% in the Good category, 26.67% in the Fair category, and 13.33% in the Needs Improvement category. Students demonstrated strong performance at the literal and reorganization levels, while their abilities at the inferential, evaluative, and appreciative levels varied. These findings indicate the need to strengthen reading instruction that emphasizes critical thinking, discussion, and reflection. This study is expected to serve as a reference for teachers in developing more effective reading learning strategies. Abstract

This study aims to describe the reading comprehension ability of tenth-grade students at SMK As-Shofa in understanding narrative texts based on Barrett’s Taxonomy. The research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive research design. The population consisted of 321 students, while the sample was 24 students from class X Pharmacy A selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a reading comprehension test developed according to the five levels of Barrett’s Taxonomy: literal, reorganization, inferential, evaluation, and appreciation. The instrument was validated by Indonesian language teachers to ensure content validity. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive quantitative techniques, including scoring, percentage calculation, and categorization. The results showed that students’ reading comprehension ability was generally in the sufficient to very good category. Most students demonstrated strong performance at the literal and reorganization levels, indicating good ability to identify explicit information and organize text structure. However, their performance at the inferential, evaluative, and appreciative levels was relatively lower, suggesting limitations in critical and reflective reading skills. The distribution of scores revealed that 70.83% of students were in the sufficient category, 20.83% in the good category, and 8.33% in the very good category. These findings indicate that although basic comprehension skills are well developed, higher-order thinking skills in reading still require improvement. The application of Barrett’s Taxonomy proved effective in systematically mapping students’ reading abilities and can serve as a useful reference for improving reading instruction and assessment. Abstract

This study aims to describe the critical reading ability of third-year students in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Program at the Indonesian Institute of Education in understanding academic texts based on Barrett’s Taxonomy. The research employed a quantitative descriptive design with a survey approach. The participants consisted of 26 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a reading comprehension test in the form of essay questions developed according to the five levels of Barrett’s Taxonomy: literal, reorganization, inferential, evaluative, and appreciative. Data analysis was conducted descriptively by calculating scores, percentages, and categorizing students’ levels of critical reading ability. The results indicate that students’ critical reading ability falls into the good category, with an average percentage of 71.60%. The literal indicator obtained the highest score at 83.75%, followed by reorganization (77.00%) and inferential (71.25%). The evaluative and appreciative indicators showed lower scores of 65.50% and 60.50%, respectively. The distribution of scores reveals that 38.46% of students were in the good category and 23.08% in the very good category, while 11.54% remained in the low category. These findings suggest that students are able to understand explicit information, draw conclusions, and evaluate texts logically; however, their reflective and appreciative abilities still need improvement. The application of Barrett’s Taxonomy proved effective in systematically mapping students’ critical reading levelsof abilities. The findings are expected to serve as a basis for developing more structured, contextual, and higher-order-thinking-oriented critical reading instruction in higher education. Abstract

Di tengah generasi milenial yang ketat dan berteknologi tinggi, setiap individu kreatif harus memiliki daya saing tinggi, kualitas diri yang baik, dan keahlian untuk dapat bersaing di dunia kerja nyata. Selain itu, perusahaan juga harus memiliki teknologi pribadi dan teknologi yang memadai untuk bersaing di era globalisasi saat ini. Karena itu, tujuan proyek adalah untuk menerapkan pengalaman ke dunia nyata. Dinas Komunikasi dan Informasi Provinsi Jawa Tengah membuat komunikasi visual seperti flyer, brosur, cover buku, dan logo. Diharapkan juga bahwa temuan penelitian ini akan menghasilkan gambaran komunikasi yang menarik, menghibur, dan mendidik yang terintegrasi dengan persiapan dan pengawasan yang dilakukan di bawah payung hukum.

Abstract

This study explores the self-regulation dynamics of visually impaired pesantren alumni in maintaining Quranic memorization during their transition to society. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach with four informants, the research identifies that the loss of institutional support structures poses a significant challenge to consistency. Results reveal a spiritual coping mechanism where blindness is perceived as a protective shield against sin, bolstering intrinsic motivation. The key finding highlights the "Membangun Pesantren Personal” to internalizing the pesantren environment strategy as an effective self-regulation model. This includes self-indoctrination to foster discipline, utilizing audio technology for positive isolation from environmental distractions, and proactively seeking social support. The study concludes that independence and technological adaptation are primary determinants for alumni to remain guardians of Quranic values in a heterogeneous society. These implications underscore the necessity for post-graduation readiness programs in disability-inclusive Islamic institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the reading comprehension ability of sixth-grade students at SDN 2 Girijaya in understanding narrative texts based on Barrett’s Taxonomy. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach involving 40 students as research participants. Data were collected through a reading comprehension test covering five levels: literal, reorganization, inferential, evaluative, and appreciative. The research instrument was developed in the form of essay questions based on the indicators of Barrett’s Taxonomy. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques to obtain the mean scores, percentages, and categories of students’ reading ability. The results show that students’ reading comprehension ability is in the good category, with an average score of 77.82. Students demonstrated adequate mastery of literal and reorganization aspects, while variations were found in inferential, evaluative, and appreciative aspects. Some students experienced difficulties in drawing conclusions, providing evaluations, and relating the content of the text to personal experiences. The findings indicate that reading instruction needs to be directed toward strengthening higher-order thinking skills through systematic and continuous learning strategies. The application of Barrett’s Taxonomy proved effective in mapping students’ reading comprehension abilities in a structured manner. Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian literatur ini adalah untuk menyelidiki makna, bahasa, dan interaksi simbolik dalam memahami elemen komunikasi dalam ritual sedekah laut yang dilakukan di Pantai Kertojayan, Kabupaten Purworejo, Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Model komunikasi ritual terdiri dari elemen-elemen komunikasi ini dan digunakan sebagai cara untuk mempertahankan nilai-nilai budaya tradisional di kalangan masyarakat. Ritual ini berkembang menjadi suatu kebiasaan (tindakan turun-temurun) yang menggabungkan elemen komunikasi transendental dalam konteks ini. Ritual sedekah laut adalah sinkronisasi adat istiadat dengan tindakan atau perilaku yang direncanakan, terutama adat Jawa bagi penduduk pesisir pantai selatan. Untuk tujuan penelitian ini, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi secara kualitatif, sudut pandang interpretatif, dan teori pendekatan interaksionisme simbolik. Pendekatan ini didasarkan pada tiga premis utama George Herbert Mead tentang pikiran (Mind), diri (Self), dan berasal dari masyarakat (Society), yang masing-masing menekankan simbol, hubungan, dan interaksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ritual sedekah laut melambangkan rasa terima kasih dan permohonan perlindungan kepada Sang Pencipta dari simbol-simbol yang diciptakan. Nilai-nilai budaya yang dilestarikan oleh masyarakat kemudian menjadi objek wisata budaya bahari di Kabupaten Purworejo.

Abstract

Field trip is an implementation of learning based on experiential learning as developed by David Kolb. At UPI Cibiru Bandung Laboratory Kindergarten, this field trip activity is one of the flagship programs and routine activities carried out every academic year. In the 2025 academic year, UPI Cibiru Laboratory Kindergarten carried out a field trip activity in the form of learning about the Whoosh High-Speed ​​Train. Based on the background of the UPI Cibiru Laboratory Kindergarten Whoosh High-Speed ​​Train field trip activity, the purpose of this research is to reveal more deeply and describe more clearly the following points, namely: (1) Realization of the UPI Cibiru Laboratory Kindergarten Whoosh High-Speed ​​Train Field Trip Activity; (2) Developing the Kinesthetic Intelligence of UPI Cibiru Laboratory Kindergarten Students Through the Whoosh High-Speed ​​Train Field Trip Activity. This research uses the Case Study method. This research is based on the Embodied Cognition theory initiated and developed by Varela, Thompson & Rosch. Based on the results of empirical observations, two strategic findings were obtained in this research, namely: (1) The Whoosh High-Speed ​​Train field trip activity was realized through four activity agendas consisting of introduction to the Whoosh High-Speed ​​Train Station environment, practice of ordering Whoosh High-Speed ​​Train tickets, traveling on the Whoosh High-Speed ​​Train, and learning on the Whoosh High-Speed ​​Train; (2) the development of kinesthetic intelligence through the Whoosh High-Speed ​​Train field trip activity was carried out in four ways consisting of direct experience learning at the Whoosh High-Speed ​​Train Station, direct practice of how to order Whoosh High-Speed ​​Train tickets, experiencing the journey directly using the Whoosh High-Speed ​​Train, and direct learning by the Whoosh High-Speed ​​Train Flight Attendant.
