Abstract

This study examines the concept of seeking knowledge in the perspective of the Qur'an and Hadith and its relevance in the modern era. The problem addressed is the declining understanding of the spiritual and moral dimensions of knowledge, as many people view education merely as a means of achieving material success. This study aims to analyze the principles of seeking knowledge in Islam and their application in daily life. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach using library research. Data were collected through documentation of primary sources, namely the Qur'an and Hadith, and supported by relevant literature on Islamic education. The findings indicate that seeking knowledge is an obligation for every Muslim and serves both spiritual and social purposes. Knowledge elevates human dignity, strengthens faith, and contributes to societal welfare. The study concludes that the values of sincerity, perseverance, lifelong learning, and respect for teachers remain highly relevant for developing Islamic education and character in contemporary society.

Abstract

At the end of the 19th century, Islamic education in Egypt faced a severe intellectual crisis marked by the dominance of taqlid culture, knowledge dichotomy, and passive teaching methods based solely on rote memorization. This study aims to critically analyze Muhammad Abduh's thought in the context of Islamic education transformation in Egypt, examining the historical background that shaped his ideas, the core principles of his educational reform, and their relevance to the development of modern Islamic education. This research employs a qualitative literature study method, collecting and analyzing data from relevant academic sources. The findings reveal that Abduh's reform vision encompassed three pillars: curriculum integration of religious and modern sciences, transformation of pedagogical methods from transmission to critical inquiry, and the empowerment of women through education. His reforms at Al-Azhar and Dar al-Ulum became a foundational blueprint for Islamic educational modernization globally, including in Indonesia.

Abstract

The development of online leaming has provided easier access to information, but at the same time has increased cybersecurity risks in educational environments, especially in areas with limited infrastructure, such as Mandailing Natal Regency. This study aims to analyze teachers' strategies in addressing cybersecurity issues in online learning in the region. The research employed a qualitative approach using a phenomenological method and was conducted in Mandailing Natal Regency from January to March 2025. The participants consisted of eight teachers. who actively used online learning platforms and had experienced cybersecurity-related problems. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman, strengthened by source and method triangulation. The findings revealed that the main cybersecurity threats included account misuse, leakage of students' personal data, weak password usage, and potential phishing attacks through unknown links. To address these challenges, teachers implemented strategies such as improving digital literacy, using relatively secure platforms, supervising students' online activities, promoting digital ethics education, and adapting to technological developments, although these efforts were constrained by limited internet access, inadequate devices, and lack of formal training. These findings indicate that cybersecurity. strategies in online learning in Mandailing Natal are adaptive and contextual, highlighting the need for stronger. policy support and better facilities from schools and local governments.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (Al) has had a significant impact on how students approach academic writing, particularly business correspondence. The purpose of this study is to examine students ability to write business emails in English, as well as the role of Altools like ChatGPT in shaping their writing practices. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach and included 20 English Education Department students. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews and document analysis of students' email assignments. According to the findings, while most students can follow the basic structure. of business emails, they struggle with grammar accuracy, vocabulary use, clarity, and maintaining an appropriate level of formality. Artificial intelligence tools have been shown to improve writing quality, specifically grammar and sentence structure. However, the study discovered that students rely too heavily on Al, which may reduce their critical thinking and originality. Furthermore, students show varying levels of awareness regarding politeness and professional tone in email correspondence. This study emphasizes the importance of using Al as a supportive tool while also encouraging students to develop independent. writing skills.

Abstract

Flood disasters occur recurrently in Rambipuji Village, Jember Regency, due to overflow from the Dinoyo River, causing significant social and economic impacts on the community. This study aims to analyze the forms of community adaptation in reducing flood disaster risk in Dusun Tempean, Desa Rambipuji. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews, structured field observations, and documentation studies. Key informants were selected using snowball sampling. The findings reveal that community adaptation occurs across three phases: before, during, and after flooding. Prior to floods, residents utilize WhatsApp groups for early warning communication, prepare emergency bags, and disconnect electrical installations. During floods, the community collaborates with Destana volunteers to operate emergency posts and conduct evacuations. Post-flood recovery involves collective mud cleaning using community-owned equipment. Analyzed through Peter L. Berger's Social Construction Theory, these adaptive behaviors have evolved from externalization into objectivation, becoming embedded social norms and shared practices that strengthen community resilience against recurring flood threats.

Abstract

This article discusses the important role of three major dynasties, namely the Seljuqs, Fatimids, and Mamluks in maintaining the existence of Islamic civilization during the Middle Ages. This research was conducted because of the decentralization of power after the decline of the central caliphate, which encouraged the emergence of regional powers as guardians of the independence of Islamic regions. The purpose of this research is to analyze several things, namely: (1) how the Seljuq Dynasty contributed to strengthening political stability and educational development, (2) how the Ismaili government model of the Fatimid Dynasty in Egypt worked, (3) the military role of the Mamluk Dynasty in facing attacks from abroad, and (4) how the interaction between these dynasties influenced the occurrence of the Crusades. The method used is library research with a historical and social approach. The research shows that the Seljuq Dynasty strengthened orthodox religion through madrasa institutions, the Fatimids built a new city of civilization in Cairo, while the Mamluks acted as military protectors of Islam against the threat of the Mongols and the Crusaders. The research shows that although each dynasty had a different ideological and ethnic background, the three dynasties together succeeded in maintaining the identity and progress of Islamic civilization amidst the global political crisis that occurred in the Middle Ages.

Abstract

The background of this study lies in the students' short story writing skills, which remain low. Therefore, innovative and creative learning media are required. The purpose of this study is to describe whether there is a difference in students' abilities before and after utilizing digital flipbook media. The method employed in this study was a pre-experimental study with a quantitative approach, using a one-group pretest-posttest design conducted on 26 students at a senior high school in Cimahi. The techniques used in this study were written pretest and posttest. The collected data were subsequently analyzed using SPSS Statistics 25, which included a normality test and a hypothesis test. Based on the research results, the students' short story writing skills before using the digital flipbook media were categorized as fair, with an average score of 67.69. Meanwhile, the students' short story writing skills after using the digital flipbook media were categorized as good, with an average score of 81.30. There was a difference in short story writing skills before and after using the digital flipbook media. The results of the hypothesis testing indicated that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. This means that there was a significant difference in the students' short story writing skills before and after using the digital flipbook media. Consequently, digital flipbook media is effective in the learning of short story writing.
