Abstract

Language is very important in our life, because without language we cannot communicate with each other. In communication, language has an important role because with a language we can express what is on our mind. In this case, learning speech act theory becomes important to overcome this problem. Speech acts are actions that can be done through speech. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of speech acts performed by the main character and to determine the function of the speech acts performed by the main character in Luca's film through the script. speech acts are divided into three acts; locutionary acts, illocutionary acts, and perlocutionary acts. In this study, illocutionary acts are the most important speech acts and are related to what the speaker meant. The illocutionary acts are divided into five illocutionary speech acts; representative, directive, commissive, expressive, and declarative. In this study, the researcher found all illocutionary acts performed by the main character in Film luca through the script. And the illocutionary acts used by the main character in Luca's film through the script, the researchers found 113; 27 representative, 45 directive, 4 commissive, 34 expressive, and 3 declarative. The most common illocutionary act is the directive illocutionary act, which is often done by the main character in Luca's film through the script. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive method in the form of documents in the form of films and scripts to describe and analyze the speech acts selected in the script, then classify them according to the concept of John R. Searle's illocutionary acts. In this study, the researcher found that Luca performed all illocutionary acts: representative, directive, commissive, expressive, and declarative.Keywords: Speech Acts, Illocutionary Acts, Luca Film Script

Abstract

Penelitian ini didasari oleh pandangan bahwa pada dasarnya sastra merupakan proses cerminan dari realitas yang ada dalam tatanan masyarakat. Hubungan antara sastra dengan masyarakat akan selalu berdekatan, dan saling berhubungan satu sama lain. Tujuan penelitian ini dibuat yang pertama adalah untuk memenuhi tugas sebagai mahasiswa dan yang kedua adalah mengetahui kesenjangan sosial apa saja yang terdapat dalam novel Kami (Bukan) Sarjana Kertas karya J.S. Khairen. Jenis metode penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif. Menurut Koentjaraningrat (1993: 89) penelitian kualitatif adalah desain penelitian yang memiliki tiga format. Ketiga format tersebut adalah penelitian deskriptif, verifikasi, dan format grounded research. Hasil yang penulis dapat adalah ternyata dalam novel Kami (Bukan) Sarjana Kertas terdapat beberapa kesenjangan sosial yang ada, seperti kesenjangan sosial ekonomi (kemiskinan), pendidikan, lingkungan, lapangan pekerjaan, serta status sosial. Kesenjangan sosial tersebut sangat mencerminkan apa yang ada dalam kenyataan bahwa sebagian besar masyarakat masih mengalami hal-hal seperti di atas. Terdapat banyak perbedaan di antara sekitar yang akhirnya menimbulkan kesenjangan sosial.Kata kunci: kesenjangan sosial, karya sastra, masyarakat

Abstract

This paper investigated the topic of gender in one of the most popular works written by O. Henry, the Gift of the Magi. The text was analyzed using Halliday’s Transitivity analysis of functional grammar (Matthiessen, C Halliday, 2014).The data of the text that being analyzed were types of the processes, participant roles, and types of circumstances in the clauses. The result showed that male character is more likely to use Material processes that are assumed to have more energy than those used by the female character.Keywords: short story, transitivity analysis, gender language characteristic

Abstract

This study was conducted to observe the phenomenon of language that creates humor in Stand up Comedy. The researcher aims to analyze the maxims that are violated to create humor, describe and explain the forms of humor that are created through the violation of the maxims, and explain the function of the humor created through the violation of the maxims in Stand up. Comedy Raditya Dika (SCURD). This research was conducted using mixed methods, a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. This data source is in the form of Stand up Comedy Raditya Dika in a Youtube video. The researcher is the main instrument of this research, while the data sheet is used as a secondary instrument. After being collected, the data were categorized and analyzed based on the types of violation of maxims, forms of humor, and functions of humor. To increase confidence, the data were triangulated by linguistic experts and students interested in the field.Keywords: pragmatics, humor, maxim flouting, Stand up Comedy.

Abstract

This research was conducted on Tenth Grade students at a vocational high school in Lamongan, this study aims to describe, explain the form of code mixing and code switching that occurs in learning, find out the factors and reasons teachers use code mixing and code switching in learning English in Tenth Grade . The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative using a sociolinguistic approach. Data collection techniques research results in the form of data collection obtained by means of observation and open interviews at the time of the study. The results showed that code-switching and code-mixing in learning English in one of the vocational high schools in Lamongan City found a form of code mixing and code switching that occurred in learning in Tenth Grade , in total only two types of code mixing were found. The factors causing code-switching include: the speech of the interlocutor, the third presence, the subject (topic), to evoke a sense of humor. Factors causing code mixing include: wanting to explain something, because of the situation, wanting to establish intimacy between teachers and students. The impacts of code switching and code mixing include: positive impacts, namely students are easier to understand the subject matter presented by the teacher, negative impacts of the Indonesian language order resulting from interference and integration, as well as code switching and code mixing. the use of Indonesian is not done properly and correctly so that in learning the situation becomes informal. This research is expected to provide knowledge and become a reference for further research with different references.Key Words: Sociolinguistic, Code Mixing, Code Switching

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku masyarakat cyber dalam platform twitter untuk melihat perilaku fans sepak bola Indonesia yang mendukung tim luar negeri. Penelitian virtual deskriptif kualitatif menjadi pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Dengan bantuan pandangan teori psikoanalisis Sigmund Freud juga dengan beberapa pandangan pakar kebudayaan dan media lainnya yang memperkuat argumentasi dalam isi penelitiannya. Platform Twitter dipilih karena sangat dikenal sebagai media sosial yang bebas, sehingga menjadi arena yang cocok sebagai tempat komunitas sepak bola online untuk saling berbagi informasi. Mulai munculnya banyak argument yang menyatakan bahwa “kepakaran” seakan melebur dalam setiap argumentasi sepak bola di dalamnya, bahkan banyak argument menjurus ke arah seperti sarkas, hingga rasisme dan sara. Penelitian ini sendiri melihat tentang pentingnya kepakaran dalam dunia sosial media sepak bola di Twitter, sehingga penting melihat faktor seperti apa yang mempengaruhi argumentasi yang mengagung-agungkan kepakaran ini demi klub kesayangan mereka. Data memperlihatkan jika fanatisme dan fantasi secara tidak sadar menjadikan pengguna media sosial khususnya pecinta sepak bola seakan menjadi “pakar” jika klub kesayangan mereka dikritik oleh pihak lainnyaViews on the unconsciouseness community become an expert in the case of football on twitterThis study aims to determine the behavior of cyber communities on the twitter platform to see the behavior of Indonesian football fans who support foreign teams. Qualitative descriptive virtual research is the approach used in this study. With the help of Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory, as well as several other cultural and media experts' views that strengthen the arguments in the content of his research. The Twitter platform was chosen because it is well known as a free social media, making it a suitable arena as a place for online soccer communities to share information. Many arguments began to emerge which stated that "expertness" seemed to be dissolved in every football argument in it, even many arguments led to things like sarcasm, to racism and sara. This study itself looks at the importance of expertise in the world of soccer social media on Twitter, so it is important to see what factors influence the arguments that glorify this expertise for their favorite club. So. Abstract

Along with the rise of the impact of globalization 4.0 that blurs the boundaries between countries and competition at the world level, many indigenous cultures have been pushed aside. Many families consider other cultures to be more advanced and educate children in contemporary culture that does not reflect their cultural identity. Efforts to preserve the nation's original culture need to be carried out from the family level. This quantitative study was aimed at determining factors influencing children's language development and the role of the family and the challenges in the effort of preserving Javanese culture, values, and languages in the globalization 4.0 era. The population of the study was the family whose kid around 3-12 years old domicile in Central Java and Yogyakarta. In total 94 samples were chosen using a random purposive  method.    The data were gathered  using  questionnaires  then analyzed  using  a descriptive quantitative  method.  The result  of the study  shows  that  family  roles  impact children's acquisition of Javanese. Environment, language level or social strata in language, media, and parental inability are the most common reasons why Javanese is considered difficult. This article also suggests solutions and gives other related data to support this study

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the appraising items which employed in Taman Sari tourists’ review written in Trip Advisor. It identified how the visitors expressed their feeling, attitude, and judgment towards the Taman Sari tourist attractions by applying Martin White (2005) theory, especially the attitude devices. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method. The data used were reviews written by the tourists of Taman Sari in TripAdvisor. This study was done by separating the reviews into the one that contains appraising items of attitudes and then breaking them into clauses before they were analyzed. From the total of 56 data, it shows that there are 15 (26.79%) affect, 6 (10.71%) judgment, and 35 (62.50%) appreciation. Most of the reviews contains 50 (89.29%) positive attitudes, and only 6 (10.71%) with negative attitudes. This study asserted that the attitude device mostly used in the reviews is appreciation, especially reaction – quality since it deals with the evaluation of things which describes human feelings.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas peran United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) di Cisarua Bogor tahun 2021-2022 dengan menggunakan teori peran oleh Clive Archer yang mengklasifikan peran organisasi internasional sebagai instrumen/alat, arena, dan aktor independent. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah perwakilan dari UNHCR Indonesia, perwakilan dari pihak Kantor Kecamatan Cisarua, dan perwakilan dari pengungsi asing yang tinggal di Cisarua. Teknik pengambilan data dilakukan dengan proses wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah peran UNHCR dalam menangani pengungsi di Cisarua adalah sebagai instrumen/alat. Dalam hal ini UNHCR merupakan alat yang diutus PBB dan diberi mandat untuk menangani masalah pengungsi di berbagai negara Peran itu dapat dilihat dari UNHCR yang dengan tujuan utamanya memberi perlindungan dan bantuan serta status suaka kepada pengungsi dalam kasus ini dapat terlaksanakan. Meski begitu peran tersebut masih belum bisa diberikan secara maksimal.The role of united nations high commissioner for refuges (UNHCR) in handling foreign refugesThis study was aimed to find out the role of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Cisarua Bogor District in 2021-2022 using role theory by Clive Archer which classifies the role of international organizations as instruments/tools, arenas and independent actors. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this research were representatives from UNHCR Indonesia, Cisarua District Office, and the refugees living in Cisarua. The data collection technique was carried out using an interview and documentation. The findings show that UNHCR's role in handling refugees in Cisarua District is as an instrument/tool. In this case UNHCR is a tool sent by the UN and given the mandate to handle refugee problems in various countries. This role can be seen from UNHCR whose main aim is to provide protection and assistance as well as asylum status to refugees in this case which can be implemented. Even so, this role still cannot be given optimally.

Abstract

Catur Warna di dalam konsep Hindu seringkali disalahtafsirkan dengan istilah kasta pada masyarakat. Merujuk pada sumbernya, Catur Warna merupakan sebuah konsep penggolongan masyarakat yang didasarkan pada sifat (guna) dan karma manusia. Kajian ini berupaya menguraikan prinsip-prinsip penentuan Catur Warna dalam perspektif humanisme religius. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data yang digunakan ialah teks-teks pada naskah Sêrat Bhagawad Gita dan Kitab Sārasamuccaya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik baca catat purposive sampling. Analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis deskriptif disertai validitas triangulasi dan reliabilitas stabilitas. Hasil kajian ini menyimpulkan bawah sistem Catur Warna merupakan salah satu contoh aplikasi dari pandangan filsafat humanisme religius. Hal tersebut didukung dengan kebebasan memilih kelompok (kasta) yang diinginkan sepanjang dalam pelaksanaan kewajiban disesuaikan dengan guna dan karma yang melekat padanya. Humanisme religius dalam hal ini menjadi pedoman yang kuat untuk mengurai permasalahan kasta di dalam masyarakat yang selama ini dimaknai sebagai sistem stratifikasi sosial yang bersifat vertikal.Religious humanism in the concept of catur warna Catur Warna in the Hindu concept is often misinterpreted with the term caste in society. Referring to the source, Catur Warna is a concept of classifying society based on human nature (guna) and karma. This study attempts to describe the principles of determining Catur Warna from the perspective of religious humanism. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data sources used are the texts of the Sêrat Bhagawad Gita and the Sārasamuccaya Book. Data collection was carried out using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive analysis with triangulation validity and stability reliability. The results of this study conclude that the Catur Warna system is one example of the application of the philosophical view of religious humanism. This is supported by the freedom to choose the desired group (caste) as long as the implementation of obligations is adjusted to the use and karma attached to it. Religious humanism in this case is a strong guideline to unravel the caste problem in society which has been interpreted as a vertical system of social stratification.Keywords: caste, catur warna, religious humanism
