Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between emotion dysregulation as a cause of eating disorders based on research articles that have been collected. The method used was systematic review by collecting and analyzing various research articles relevant to the research objectives. Based on the results of the 18 articles analyzed, it can be concluded that difficulty regulating emotions plays an important role in the emergence and perpetuation of eating disorders, especially binge eating disorder (BED). Emotion dysregulation also serves as a mediator in relation to eating disorders. Thus, interventions that emphasize the development of emotion management skills may be an important strategy in preventing and managing eating disorders.

Abstract

Verbal bullying is a serious problem that affects an individual's psychological health and psychosocial development, especially in terms of self-confidence. Victims often internalize ridicule or insults as absolute truths, forming irrational thought patterns that trigger low self-esteem, anxiety, and withdrawal from social environments. This article reviews 10 nationally and internationally accredited literature published in the period 2020–2025 to examine the effectiveness of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) in increasing the self-confidence of victims of verbal bullying. The results of the review show that REBT is able to change irrational beliefs into more logical, realistic, and adaptive rational ones. This cognitive restructuring process contributes to increased self-acceptance, positive emotions, and victims' courage in social interactions. The most influential stages in the ABCDE model are Disputation (D) and Effective new belief (E), as both help victims challenge negative thoughts and form new, healthier beliefs so that self-confidence can be restored. Further research suggestions include exploring the application of REBT in a group counseling format, assessing its long-term effectiveness through a longitudinal design, and integrating contextual factors such as culture, social support, and school environment, so that interventions for victims of verbal bullying can be more comprehensive and applicable.

Abstract

This study explores the financial doomscrolling behavior of college students using the TikTok platform. Financial doomscrolling refers to the compulsive consumption of negative financial content, which may shape students’ perceptions of economic reality and influence their mental health. Using a descriptive quantitative method and survey approach, 190 active TikTok-using students aged 17–25 participated in this study. The Financial Doomscrolling Questionnaire (FDQ) was used to classify participants into high, medium, or low doomscrolling categories. Results revealed that the majority (72.11%) of participants showed a moderate level of financial doomscrolling, while 19.47% were in the high category. Second-year students displayed the highest number of high doomscrolling behaviors. This study provides a descriptive overview of the distribution patterns of doomscrolling behavior among college students. The explanation of doomscrolling dynamics is supported by Solso’s cognitive theory and Erikson’s psychosocial development theory, offering contextual insights into how students may process and relate to financial content online. It expands the discourse of doomscrolling beyond the pandemic context by highlighting financial content as a trigger for digital distress, and emphasizes the need for digital literacy-based psychosocial interventions among youth.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), which is increasingly rampant among Generation Z, impacts mental health and social well-being due to digital social pressure and social media addiction. This article aims to systematically examine the role of digital literacy as a strategic solution in addressing FoMO behavior. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this article explores findings from various selected studies over the past five years regarding the relationship between FoMO and Digital Literacy. The results indicate that enhancing digital literacy can help individuals filter information critically, manage their time effectively, and build awareness of the psychological risks of social media. Digital literacy has also proven to be effective in strengthening self-regulation skills and personal learning competence. Therefore, digital literacy is viewed not only as a long-term educational solution but also as a preventive approach in fostering a healthy digital culture, particularly for Generation Z.

Abstract

The LGBT phenomenon presents a latent threat to the moral integrity of Indonesia’s younger generation. This literature review employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach to analyze how digital platforms—particularly social networking applications—facilitate the dissemination of non-normative sexual identity values, which conflict with Indonesia's religious, cultural, and moral foundations. The synthesis of relevant studies indicates that exposure to LGBT-related digital content contributes to psychosocial challenges among adolescents, including identity confusion, anxiety, and value disorientation. Digital modeling and social reinforcement mechanisms further accelerate the internalization of values that may erode collective morality. In response, this study emphasizes the critical importance of strengthening digital literacy, character education rooted in national values, and self-regulation among youth to safeguard moral cohesion.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the psychological assistance process provided by the UPTD PPA of Surabaya City to child victims of sexual violence. The research used a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that psychological assistance at UPTD PPA Surabaya involves not only counseling but also support during medical procedures, legal processes, and temporary shelter placement. However, several challenges arise in the implementation, including the child's difficulty in disclosing the incident, limited communication abilities among young children, lack of early sexual education, and insufficient support from the social environment and families. Therefore, active involvement of families and communities is crucial to the psychological recovery of child victims of sexual violence.

Abstract

Domestic violence is a recurring social problem that negatively impacts the psychological and emotional well-being of its victims, especially women. This study explores the effectiveness of psychological assistance services provided by UPTD PPA Surabaya in helping women victims, particularly wives, recover and achieve self-empowerment. Employing qualitative methods, including interviews, field observations, and document analysis, this research examines a single client case and draws insights from three counsellors. The results reveal that victims often experience psychological downturns, such as low self-esteem and helplessness, which are exacerbated by emotional and financial dependence. UPTD PPA plays a vital role in providing psychological counselling, legal services, and empowerment programs to help victims rebuild their self-confidence and regain autonomy. However, challenges such as limited human resources, societal stigma, and institutional barriers remain. This study concludes that a trauma-informed and empowerment-based approach is essential in supporting the long-term recovery of domestic violence survivors and must be supported by coordinated efforts across community, institutional, and policy levels.

Abstract

Junior high school students are in early adolescence, where sexual hormones are active and provoke emotional instability. Pubertal life challenges cause adolescents susceptible to depression. One of the factors that causes depression is family function. However, the influence of family function with depression is inconclusive. The capability to regulate their emotions determines adolescent depression levels. This study aims to examine the role of emotional regulation in mediating the influence of family function on depression levels in junior high school students. Three hundred and one junior high school students in Medan filled out the family function scale, emotional regulation scale, and Beck Depression Inventory-II. Data analysis using a mediation test with the Jamovi statistical software Version 4.2 showed that emotional regulation did not significantly mediate family function on depression. Family function directly affects depression levels in junior high school students. Family function impacts emotional regulation and emotional regulation influences depression levels. The results of the study are beneficial in compiling intervention programs to decrease students' depression levels by focusing on strengthening family function
