Abstract

Academic stress experienced by high school students can negatively affect mental health, academic achievement, deviant behavior, sleep quality, physical health, school dropout, and long-term outcomes. This study aims to systematically review scholarly literature on the use of psychoeducational media as a coping strategy to reduce academic stress among high school students. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. Articles were retrieved from the Scopus database using inclusion criteria, including publications published between 2015 and 2025, within the subject areas of “psychology” and “social sciences,” written in English, open access, focused on academic stress in high school students, and examining psychoeducational media. 5 articles were finally included for thematic analysis. The results indicate that psychoeducational media, including gratitude journals, mindset modules, and multimodal programs (HSMP, MSC-T, and EASE), are effective in reducing academic stress and related psychological distress. These interventions also improve emotional regulation, self-compassion, and psychological well-being. The findings highlight the potential of psychoeducational media to be integrated into school-based mental health promotion. However, further research is needed to examine the long-term effectiveness and cultural relevance of these interventions in various educational settings.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of single-parent families in Indonesia, as a consequence of the high rate of divorce or death of a partner, drives the urgency to understand family resilience in this context. This phenomenon is crucial considering that changes in family structure can significantly affect the psychological well-being of both parents and children. This study synthesizes and analyzes the existing literature on the resilience of single-parent families in Indonesia, with a particular focus on the psychological factors influencing family welfare and adaptation. The approach used was a literature review, with articles collected from the Scopus and Google Scholar databases. The initial search process resulted in 1678 articles, which were then filtered down to 20 relevant articles. Key findings suggest that individual psychological factors, diverse coping strategies, and sociocultural support, including the role of gender-based social stigma and religious values significantly affect single-parent family resilience. This study emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach that considers the peculiarities of Indonesia's cultural context in an effort to support the resilience of single-parent families. It is hoped that this research can provide essential insights for the development of social policies and interventions that are more effective for single-parent families in Indonesia.

Abstract

Extraversion, a core trait within the Five-factor Model of personality, encompasses behavioural tendencies such as sociability, assertiveness, enthusiasm, and risk-taking. While numerous studies have explored extraversion through online games, the behavioural expression of this trait in offline group interactions remain underexplored. This study aims to describe how the facets of extraversion manifest during face-to-face gameplay using a structured behavioural observation approach. A subject was observed across two sessions of offline card games by three independent raters, with inter-rater reliability and composite score analysed to identify consistent trait expressions. The use of live, unmediated interaction allowed for the capture of rich social cues that are often muted in digital settings. Findings support the view that offline games provide a naturalistic and ecologically valid context to observe personality traits in action. This research contributes to a growing body of work advocating fir alternative methods in personality assessment, particularly in educational and group-based environments.

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical developmental stage marked by emotional volatility and identity exploration. However, not all adolescents navigate this phase successfully many exhibit risky behaviors categorized as juvenile delinquency. This literature review aims to examine the role of self-control in adolescent delinquency by exploring the types of delinquent behaviors associated with low self-control, identifying environmental factors that influence self-control, and analyzing the educational and psychosocial implications of these findings. Using articles published between 2020 and 2025 sourced from Google Scholar, Scopus, and EBSCO, a total of 11 relevant studies were reviewed. The analysis revealed that low self-control significantly contributes to aggressive behavior, substance abuse, cyberbullying, and sexual offenses among youth. Furthermore, external factors such as permissive parenting, deviant peer influence, and punitive school discipline were found to weaken self-control, whereas consistent parental attachment and supportive school environments can strengthen it. This review highlights the need for integrated interventions involving family, schools, and community support systems to enhance adolescents' self-control capacities and reduce delinquent behaviors. These findings support the theoretical framework of self-control theory while emphasizing the interplay between individual psychological traits and environmental contexts.

Abstract

Intercultural marriage has become increasingly common in the era of globalization; however, cultural differences between partners introduce complex challenges in maintaining marital well-being. This literature review aims to explore the concept of marital flourishing within the context of intercultural couples and the psychological factors that support it. Using a narrative literature review method, the study analyzed 12 relevant articles published between 2015– 2025 that focus on the psychological aspects of intercultural marriage. The findings reveal that marital flourishing is influenced by a combination of internal factors (such as self-compassion, mindfulness, and life management skills), effective communication, communal values, religiosity, and social support. Cultural differences necessitate ongoing adaptation and cultural negotiation. This study highlights the importance of a multidisciplinary approach and culturally sensitive interventions to support intercultural couples in building a healthy and fulfilling marriage.

Abstract

This study presents a phenomenological exploration of emotion regulation in an emerging adult female with a background of childhood emotional abuse. The research analyzes data obtained through in-depth interviews, observational notes, and supporting anamnestic narratives from both the participant and a close friend. The analysis reveals five dominant emotion regulation patterns: emotional suppression, avoidance and withdrawal, difficulty with reframing, physical symptoms as expression, and over-functioning as avoidance. These findings illustrate how early psychological invalidation impacts the development of maladaptive regulation strategies, influencing the participant’s present coping behaviors, self-perception, and interpersonal functioning. The study highlights how safe, supportive relationships may foster more adaptive emotional functioning in adulthood. The findings contribute to the understanding of trauma-informed care for emerging adults and offer insights for psychologists, educators, and caregivers supporting individuals with similar developmental backgrounds.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically review the empirical literature on the role of positive emotions in encouraging pro-environmental behavior (PEB). Through the systematic literature review method, as many as 10 selected articles published between 2015–2025 were analyzed based on certain criteria, such as focus on specific positive emotions and relevance to pro-environmental actions. The results of the study showed that emotions such as anticipated pride, satisfaction, subjective happiness, compassion, and connection with nature had a significant influence on increasing individual intentions and involvement in pro-environmental actions. These emotions also act as mediators between other psychological factors, such as social norms, self-efficacy, and personal values, and actual behavior. This study highlights that positive emotions-based approaches are more effective and sustainable than approaches that emphasize guilt or fear. These findings contribute to the development of more empowering environmental communication and education strategies and support consistent eco-friendly behaviors.

Abstract

Dysfunctional families and experiences of bullying can contribute to social problems and emotional instability in adolescents. This article analyzes the psychological condition of a 16 year old adolescent who exhibits withdrawal, self-harming behaviors, and suicidal ideation, exacerbated by conflicts with their mother and the infedelity of a stepfather. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study analysis, referencing Karen Horney’s psychoanalytic theory, which emphasizes the importance of interpersonal relationships and the fulfillment of basic psychological needs. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and psychological tests, indicating that the subject struggles to build healthy social relationships, along with feelings of inferiority and helplessness. The results show that dissatisfaction with the ideal self-image and traumatic experiences contribute to self-harming behaviors and suicidal tendencies. These findings highlight the importance of social support and emotional understanding in adolescent psychological development, as well as the need for interventions to address the negative impacts of family environments and bullying. This research provides insights into how these factors interact and affect individual mental health.

Abstract

Adolescents in conflict with the law often have complex and stressful psychosocial backgrounds. This qualitative research uses a case study approach to understand the psychological dynamics of a child in conflict with the law through psychological assessment. The subject in this study was a 17-year-old male adolescent who was involved in a case of child abuse and sexual intercourse. Data were obtained through interviews, observations and aggression scales conducted during the coaching process at the X Social Protection and Rehabilitation Center. Additional information was obtained from interviews with people closest to the subject. The assessment results showed that the subject had difficulty in controlling aggressiveness, which was influenced by less affectionate and less supervised parenting, exposure to violence, and a social environment that did not support moral development. This research highlights the important role of family and social environment in shaping adolescent behavior. Albert Bandura's social learning theory explains that learning can occur through observation and modeling from the surrounding environment. This study concluded that the subject's deviant behavior was influenced by a lack of parental affection, a history of physical abuse, and a negative peer environment.
