Abstract

Water phobia is a kind of resisting factors in doing the aquatic study. Excessivefear is very disturbing for acquiring the skill of swimming. Swimming which ought to beeasy to be learned by man of all ages will mean nothing if the water phobia be still inmind. The problem is how to eliminate the excessive fear of water, so that somebodymay reach his optimal potency in mastering the aquatic skill.Strategy of eliminating the water phobia is an approach for optimizing the aquatic study.This strategy is expected to become an instrument which can assist physical educationteachers, all instructors or practitioners of swimming to overcome the problem of thewater phobia. Its trouble-shooting efforts apply the approach and the environment’sfacilitation which are emotionally, mentally, and physically supporting the course of thestudy. The water phobia can be caused by genetic elements. It can also be caused byeffects of a traumatic experience with water. The water phobia is also happened by theeffect of having cold feet posed by parents or adults. Peculiarly this strategy is addressedfor those who have fear or feel unsafe around or under water, both for children and alsoadults.Implications of this strategy affect the disappearance of excessive fear of water, andthen encourage the self confidence to perform the aquatic activity. Through physicaleducation teachers, swimming instructors, mental health experts, parents, and adults,the problem of those who suffer from the water phobia can be minimized.Keyword: Strategy, The Water Phobia, The Aquatic Activity, Physical Education

Abstract

Abstract This minibridge game is used for the basic understanding of the real bridge game; it includes the way for deciding the contract or the system of the game for the elementary school students who want to play the real bridge game. Mini bridge is used for the learning activity of the sport teacher in making the plan of the teaching and learning activity for the elementary school students and giving the teaching material about the true of deciding contract in the real bridge game, include the own cards and the own partner cards. It hopes that mini bridge game can help the sport teachers and the students, who have the difficulty in learning, understanding, mastering and the way to decide the true contract or the technique in the real bridge game. Abstract

Life skills are essentially those abilities that help promote mental well-being and competence in young people as they face the realities of life. Most development professionals agree that life skills are generally applied in the context of health and social events. Children like to try out different ways, experiment with different materials, and see what they can do creatively to grasp the life skill. Finding different ways to exspressing themselves physically satisfies the urge for life skill action. But it must be their ways, their ides, and their accomplishment. Physical education gives children opportunity for exploratory and creative activity toward life skill. Children need an opportunity to tray out their own ideas, solve some of their own life problems and bring forth life skill development of their own origin. Keywords: Life skill, physical education

Abstract

The aim of this research is to reveal a description on the participants understanding of teaching learning process in elementary physical education on the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. They were the participants of training for classroom/ religion teachers in Yogyakarta Special Province. The population was 80 classroom/ religion teachers who participated in the training of 2005. The sample was 60 teachers taken by purposive sampling procedures. This research employed descriptive approach using questionnaire as the data collection technique. The results showed that for cognitive aspect, it was 91, 67% of cognitive aspect categorized as high, 8,33% as medium, and 0% as low. It was 6,7 %of affective aspect categorized as high, 5 % as medium, and 18,33 % as low. It was 63,33% of psychomotor aspect categorized as high, 36,67% as medium, and 0% as low. The total of those three aspects showed that the understanding of the training participants were 43,33% included as high category, 56,67% included as medium category, and 0% included as low category. Abstract

This research covers efforts in improving physical education learning process for 4th grader based on competence based curriculum. The problems to be solved are 1) ineffective time consumtion, (2) lack of facilities and equipment including site limits, (3) the needs for better understanding and interpretation on the learning contents which is in line with Competence- Based Curriculum (CBC), (4) the affective aspects either from teachers or students is one of the impoertant factors for the succesful PE learning. This research is a classroom action research involving two cycles. The research took place in at the Faculty of Sports Science, Yogyakarta State University, once per week from July to September 2005-2006. A number of 34 students were participated. They were at the 4th grade consisting of 16 boys and 18 girls. The action of the research is teaching PE using Curriculum 2004 employing CBC. The contents consisted of basic movements in PE, gymnastics, and traditional games. It took 50 minutes every single unit teaching learning. The results showed that there was improvement on the effectiveness of learning process, on the students motivation, and also students physical fitness. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pembelajaran matakuliah Dasar Gerak Renang melalui pendekatan bermain pada mahasiswa jurusan Pendidikan Olahraga Prodi PJKR FIK UNY tahun ajaran 2009/2010. Metode penelitian tindakan kelas yang digunakan dari Kemmis et al, 1982; dan Burns, 1999, dengan melalui beberapa siklus tindakan. Tahapan pelaksanaan penelitian meliputi Tahap Persiapan, Tahap Pelaksanaan: tahap ini terdiri atas 1) planning, 2) acting, 3) observing, dan 4) reflecting dan Tahap Akhir. Rancangan tindakan penelitian terdiri dari tiga siklus. Proses pengolahan dan analisis data deskriptif terdiri dari 1). deskripsi data, 2) validasi data, 3) interpretasi data. Adapun pedoman pendekatan bermain menggunakan buku pedoman pembelajaran renang dengan pendekatan bermain dari Peter Meaney tentang Wet Games: a fun approach to teaching swimming and water safety tahun 2005. Selain itu digunakan juga buku tentang Water Fun: 116 fitness and swimming activities for all ages, oleh Terri Lees tahun 2007. Populasi penelitian adalah 60 orang mahasiswa kelas C prodi PJKR FIK UNY yang menempuh mata kuliah Dasar Gerak Renang pada semester II tahun ajaran 2010. Berdasarkan hasil refleksi dan pembahasan terhadap penelitian tindakan kelas di atas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan bermain dapat meningkatkan proses pembelajaan dasar gerak renang. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah terciptanya pembelajaran yang menggembirakan, menyenangkan, dan penuh semangat belajar sehingga mampu membawa mahasiswa untuk berprestasi lebih baik dari pada sebelumnya. Hal ini dapat ditandai dengan adanya peningkatan nilai rata- rata kelulusan tanpa mengabaikan mutu lulusan, tingkat partisipatori mahasiswa yang optimal, suasana pembelajaran yang kondusif, serta memperkaya kasanah model pembelajaran di prodi PJKR FIK UNY. Abstract

Physical education class is only 2 hours per week. Physical inactivity is a leading contributor to obesity and chronic disease. Numerous studies have shown positive relationships between academic achievement and physical activity. The mechanisms by which students may improve academic achievement as a result of increased physical activity through physical education included improved attention, mood, motivation, cognitive function, and neuroplasticity. Physical activity, especially aerobic activity, increased neurotransmitter activity, blood flow to the brain, and production BDNF (brain-derived neurotrphic factor). BDNF is responsible for neurons creation, survival, and resistance to damage and stress, which is support learning. Kata kunci: pendidikan jasmani, prestasi akademik, fungsi otak

Abstract

Abstract Instructional technology is theory and practice of design, development, utilization, management and evaluation of processes and recources for learning. The aims of instructional technology is to ease, to stimulate, to facilitate, and to encourage learning process. The ultimate goal of learning is changing on cognition, skills, and affection which are relatively permanent. In pencak silat course, the need to improve its learning process is critical. Abstract

This research has been inspired by the assumptions that learning process done by school sports (extracurricula) coach could handle student discipline. The problems in this research was what were the efforts done by the coach in handling student discipline in high schools in Bandung City which included strategies and discipline in the teaching and learning processes. The method of the research was discriptive research by survey. The data collection technique included closed questionaire with Likert scale. The population is school sport coach in high schools. A number of 30 partisipants were involved after they have been choosen by purposive random. The results show that the coach had 82% of absorbing power on the startegy component. This means that the strategies that they have been used are good. The coach said that the strategies were implemented to keep ready with the possibilities that indiscipline happens during the learning process. In addition, the coach had 80, 36% of absorbing power on the discipline component. It means that the discipline has been implemented in such a good way. The coach said that the discipline implementation was for decreasing the oppoertunity that indiscipline would occur during learning process. Those two components are the variable effort that has absorbing power 81,18%. It shows that the coach had good efforts in handling student discipline. Abstract

Teenagers are part of the society who have duties and responsibilities of their life, such as, follow the lesson in the school that called learning activities or school in common term. A failure occurs caused by unmaturity of the teenagers emotion. Unstable emotion caused by the difficulties to concentrate and affect to the learning achievement, meanwhile, the learning process is needed to absorb the materials learned for be raised again some times. Physical education, sport and health given because it have comprehensive goals include physical aspect, cognitive, affective, emotional, social and moral. Physical education is a process of interaction between students and the environment which managed through the systematic physical activity to perform whole human being, developing physical aspect, psychomotor, cognitive and affective. The maturity of emotion include: being realistic, accept ourselves and other what it is, well adjustment,be able to resolve an issues in objective ways, not depend on the others, concern with ethical values and morals, having empathy, sense of humor, have creativities and like a challanges.
