Abstract

Road geometry design is a method of planning roads geometrically or involving the computation of angles through a process. For road geometric design, it is necessary to assess the suitability of design criteria with applicable guidelines, namely the Road Geometric Design Guidelines. Therefore, this study will conduct a geometric design assessment of the application of the existing road geometric design of the Jatigede East Ring Roads and adjust it to the "Road Geometric Design Guidelines". The research method used in this research is the evaluation research method of the research object, namely the Jatigede East Ring Road Section, which is the road to the Jatigede Dam tourist area, which is not by the road geometry standards. It has a sharp bend less than Rmin = 110, which is the 1997 highway requirement for collection roads with Vr = 60 km/h. Such road conditions can cause insecurity and discomfort for road users. Therefore, the authors conducted research with the title "Case Study of Road Geometry Evaluation Towards Tourism Area Case Study: East Ring - Jatigede Dam, Sumedang - Indonesia" Geometry improvements are due to the fact that many angles are not suitable. To obtain geometry data in the field using Google Earth and Global Mapper, the measured data is coordinate data and elevation data, then using Microsoft Excel to process the measurement results and input them into the Autocad program. Based on the results drawn, geometric analysis. Conducted from 32 corners obtained from the research, only 17 corners with a radius of 115 m meet the criteria. The other 31 turns have radii smaller than the minimum radius, which is quite dangerous for a speed of 60 km/hour. There are steep descents and climbs in some locations, with 28% of the road having a slope much greater than the maximum requirement of 8%.

Abstract

Road geometric factors, such as curve design, have significantly contributed to traffic accidents. Inappropriate corner design can cause the vehicle to lose control, especially at high speeds. Road geometry plays an important role in traffic safety, with many studies showing that poor geometric design can increase the risk of accidents. In Indonesia, evaluating road geometry is the main focus in improving traffic safety. In Indonesia, evaluating road geometry is the main focus in improving traffic safety. This research focuses on the Bantrangsana corner on Jalan Raya Siliwangi, Majalengka, because it is often reported as a location with a high accident rate. This research aims to evaluate the suitability of bend geometry to the perception of road users at the Bantrangsana Bend on Jalan Raya Siliwangi Majalengka using the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach. Results with 20 road users revealed that corner visibility is poor at night. When it rains, the narrow road width adds discomfort, especially when facing vehicles from the opposite direction, in traffic jams or vehicles leaving the road connecting to Bantrangsana village. Also, at the Bantrangsana bend, a road connects to Bantrangsana village; it can be seen on the location plan that the bend is a bend with a T-junction. Therefore, additional improvements are needed, such as improving lighting, adjusting road width, and adding clearer signs to improve the safety and comfort of road users at Bantrangsana Bend. The results of this study demonstrate the importance of considering road user perceptions in evaluating and designing road geometry to ensure a safer and more comfortable driving experience.

Abstract

Abstract

The process of building a transportation infrastructure presents a unique challenge in the field of civil engineering. Bridges play an important role in supporting human mobility and transportation, as well as in delivering goods and services to various locations. A bridge structure must not suffer excessive deflection to have good service capabilities. This research seeks to find the amount of deflection of composite girder under live load and dead load. By inserting the load that occurs, this study wants to identify the deflection that happens using SAP2000 software. SAP200 is a sophisticated software application widely used in the field of structural engineering for the analysis and design of various types of structures. SAP2000 enables engineers to evaluate the behaviour of structures under different loading conditions, including static and dynamic loads, ensuring that designs meet required safety and performance standards. The findings show that based on the RSNI T-03-2005 Standard, the maximum deflection tolerance is L/240, where L is known as the total bridge span, which is 17.5 cm, while after being analysed by SAP2000, it is known that the total deflection that occurred on the composite girder is 17,2 cm. The findings underscore the importance of using advanced simulation tools like SAP2000 to predict structural behaviour accurately. This research highlights the necessity of precise deflection analysis in civil engineering projects to ensure that transportation infrastructure can withstand the loads they will encounter during their service life. This research is designed to serve as a reference for challenges discovered for future research.
