Abstract

Rhizophora apiculata is a mangrove species commonly used in revegetation programs because its propagules are easy to obtain, and its growth is relatively easy to control. R. apiculata also has great potential in storing carbon, so it is important to know its contribution to carbon stocks in coastal areas. This study aims to determine the density, estimate biomass, and carbon stocks of R. apiculata from community revegetation on the coast of Mawasangka District, Central Buton Regency. The study was conducted in October-November 2025. Vegetation data collection used a 50-meter quadratic transect method perpendicular to the coastline, with two transect lines and six plots 100 m². The percentage of canopy cover was measured using the Hemispherical Photography method. Biomass and carbon stock estimation used the Google Earth Engine approach and direct measurements using the Allometric model. The results showed that the percentage of canopy cover of R. apiculata was 74.10 ± 14.53%, which is included in the good/dense category. Based on the dbh size, the highest density was in the 4–6.99 cm and 7–9.99 cm size classes with values of 2616.66 ind/ha2 and 1666.66 ind/ha2, respectively. The total biomass was 115.97 tons/ha2, consisting of AGB 111.81 tons/ha2 and BGB 4.15 tons/ha2. This value is directly proportional to the total carbon stock of 54.50 tons C/ha2 (AGC: 52.55 tons C/ha2; BGBC: 1.95 tons C/ha2). In general, the biomass and carbon stock values in the upper part of the stand were higher than those in the lower part. R. apiculata resulting from revegetation is still in the early stages of growth with a relatively small dbh size. Nevertheless, its potential as a carbon store is quite good. Efforts to preserve and expand the revegetation area need to be continued to increase the potential for carbon absorption in coastal areas.

Abstract

Escherichia coli merupakan bakteri patogen yang dapat menyebabkan gangguan kesehatan manusia seperti meningitis, infeksi saluran kemih, dan diare, serta menjadi penyebab utama kegagalan ekspor produk perikanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kandungan senyawa fitokimia ekstrak buah mangrove Sonneratia caseolaris dan pontensi ekstrak ini sebagai anti bakteri E. coli dengan konsentrasi berbeda. Metode penelitian  ini  meliputi ekstraksi, perhitungan rendemen, uji fitokimia, serta uji zona hambat bakteri menggunaka overlay. Sampel diperoleh dari perairan Tolbuk-Bangkalan, dan diekstraksi menggunakan metode maserasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rendemen ekstrak diperoleh sebesar 15,65%. Ekstrak buah S.caseolaris mengandung senyawa fitokimia berupa flavonoid, saponin, tanin, dan triterpenoid. Konsentrasi 100.000 ppm selama 24 jam merupakan konsentrasi dan waktu terbaik dalam menghasilkan zona hambat E.coli sebesar 6,81±1,82 mm dan masuk kategori sedang (p<0,05). Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi informasi awal tentang optimalisasi ekstrak buah S.caseolaris sebagai kandidat pangan sehat dan farmakologi untuk menghambat aktivitas E.coli. Escherichia coli is a pathogenic bacterium that causes human health issues such as meningitis, urinary tract infections, and diarrhea, and serves as a primary cause of fishery product export rejections. This study aimed to analyze the phytochemical content of Sonneratia caseolaris mangrove fruit extract and evaluate its potential as an antibacterial agent against E. coli at varying concentrations. Research methods included extraction, yield calculation, phytochemical screening, and bacterial inhibition zone testing using the overlay method. Samples were collected from Tolbuk waters in Bangkalan and extracted via maceration. Results showed an extract yield of 15.65%. The S.caseolaris fruit extract contained phytochemical compounds including flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and triterpenoids. A concentration of 100,000 ppm for 24 hours proved optimal, producing an E. coli inhibition zone of 6.81 ± 1.82 mm (classified as moderate; p < 0.05). These findings provide preliminary information on optimizing S. caseolaris fruit extract as a healthy food and pharmacology candidate to inhibit E. coli activity.

Abstract

Hiu lanjaman (Carcharhinus falciformis) merupakan spesies yang melimpah di Indonesia dan umum ditangkap di tujuh Wilayah Pengelolaan Perikanan Indonesia. Spesies ini masuk dalam kategori vulnerable pada daftar merah IUCN dan terdaftar pada Appendiks II CITES. Penelitian ini dilakukan di PPS Cilacap pada tanggal 1 Oktober – 1 November 2024, dengan tujuan mengkaji aspek biologi hiu lanjaman meliputi distribusi kelas, pola pertumbuhan, faktor kondisi, nisbah kelamin, tingkat kematangan klasper serta pemanfaatan dan volume produksi tahunan. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan metode purposive sampling dan menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 117 ekor sampel, mencakup kondisi utuh, tanpa kepala, tanpa ekor, serta tanpa kepala dan tanpa ekor dengan total individu 44 jantan dan 73 betina. Distribusi panjang tubuh berkisar 61 cmTL - 209 cmTL dan berat antara 1 kg – 44,6 kg. Pola pertumbuhan hiu jantan dan betina menunjukkan pola allometrik negatif dengan nilai b masing-masing 2,8 dan 2,9. Faktor kondisi hiu jantan dan betina memiliki nilai rata-rata yang sama yaitu 1,01. Nisbah kelamin menunjukkan 38% jantan dan 62% betina. Tingkat kematangan klasper hiu jantan adalah 2% FC, 9% NFC, dan 89% NC. Produksi tahunan hiu lanjaman di PPS Cilacap menunjukkan fluktuasi, dengan tahun 2024 menjadi tahun produksi terendah. Pemanfaatan yang cukup tinggi pada lanjaman di wilayah Cilacap menunjukkan pentingnya pengawasan dan pengelolaan yang berkelanjutan agar spesies ini tetap lestari.

Abstract

Ekosistem terumbu karang di Pemuteran menghadapi tekanan akibat meningkatnya kegiatan wisata bahari dan pengaruh lingkungan pesisir, sehingga diperlukan strategi pengelolaan yang mampu menjaga keseimbangan antara pemanfaatan dan keberlanjutannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kondisi ekologi terumbu karang, kesesuaian dan daya dukung wisata, nilai ekonomi jasa ekosistem, serta merumuskan skenario pengelolaan berkelanjutan berbasis model dinamik terpadu. Metode penelitian meliputi survei biofisik terumbu karang, analisis kualitas perairan dan oseanografi, analisis kesesuaian dan daya dukung wisata, valuasi ekonomi jasa ekosistem, serta pengembangan model dinamik yang mengintegrasikan sub-model ekologi, sosial, dan ekonomi melalui skenario aktual dan alternatif yang kemudian diverifikasi dan divalidasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi ekosistem terumbu karang di Pemuteran relatif baik, khususnya pada lokasi rehabilitasi, dengan total valuasi ekonomi jasa ekosistem mencapai Rp167.691.703.964 dengan nilai ekonomi wisata sebesar Rp144.627.528.000, namun beberapa titik wisata bawah air telah melampaui daya dukung ekologisnya. Skenario aktual menunjukkan kecenderungan penurunan tutupan karang dan potensi perikanan meskipun nilai ekonomi wisata meningkat, sedangkan skenario alternatif yang menerapkan restorasi dan rehabilitasi ekosistem terumbu karang, pengendalian jumlah wisatawan, dan peningkatan kualitas perairan mampu meningkatkan tutupan karang, potensi perikanan, kesempatan kerja, serta nilai ekonomi kawasan secara signifikan. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa pengelolaan ekosistem terumbu karang di Pemuteran perlu dilaksanakan secara terintegrasi melalui pendekatan multi-dimensi yang adaptif dan menyeluruh, dengan penguatan peran kelembagaan lokal serta penerapan prinsip pengelolaan berbasis ekosistem yang menempatkan dimensi ekologi sebagai pijakan utama, sekaligus mengharmonikan aspek sosial dan ekonomi, sehingga kelestarian ekosistem dan keberlanjutan manfaat wisata bahari dapat terjaga dalam jangka panjang. he coral reef ecosystem in Pemuteran is facing pressure from the growth of marine tourism activities and coastal environmental influences, highlighting the need for management strategies that can balance utilization and sustainability. This study aims to analyze the ecological condition of coral reefs, tourism suitability and carrying capacity, the economic value of ecosystem services, and to formulate sustainable management scenarios based on an integrated dynamic modeling approach. The research methods include bio-physical surveys of coral reefs, analyses of water quality and oceanographic conditions, assessments of tourism suitability and carrying capacity, valuation of ecosystem services, and the development of a dynamic model integrating ecological, social, and economic sub-models through actual and alternative scenarios that were subsequently verified and validated. The results indicate that the condition of the coral reef ecosystem in Pemuteran is relatively good, particularly at rehabilitation sites, with a total ecosystem service valuation reaching IDR 167,691,703,964 and a tourism economic value of IDR 144,627,528,000. However, several underwater tourism sites have exceeded their ecological carrying capacity. The actual scenario shows a tendency toward declining coral cover and fisheries potential despite increasing tourism economic value, whereas the alternative scenario which incorporating coral reef restoration and rehabilitation, control of tourist numbers, and improvements in water quality, demonstrates a significant increase in coral cover, fisheries potential, employment opportunities, and the overall economic value of the area. This study confirms that coral reef ecosystem management in Pemuteran should be implemented in an integrated manner through an adaptive and comprehensive multi-dimensional approach, strengthened by robust local institutional involvement and the application of ecosystem-based management principles that prioritize ecological dimensions while harmonizing social and economic aspects, thereby ensuring long-term ecosystem conservation and sustainable benefits from marine tourism.

Abstract

Mangrove memiliki peran penting dalam menghadapi pemanasan global yaitu sebagai penyerap karbon. Peran mangrove sebagai carbon trap dan carbon sink ditentukan dari ukuran dan kerapatan mangrove. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melakukan estimasi kandungan biomassa dan karbon yang tersimpan pada mangrove di Muara Kali Ijo. Penelitian dilakukan bulan Juni-Juli 2022 di wilayah KEE Muara Kali Ijo, Kebumen. Materi penelitian adalah biomassa dan karbon pada mangrove. Analisis data berupa analisis data vegetasi mangrove yang meliputi jenis, DBH, kerapatan. Perhitungan estimasi biomassa dan stok karbon mangrove menggunakan metode tanpa pemanenan (non-destructive) dengan mengukur diameter at breast height (DBH, 1.3 m), sedangkan simpanan karbon diestimasi dari 46% biomassa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kerapatan mangrove di KEE Muara Kali Ijo, Kebumen dalam kategori tinggi dengan nilai 4.300 ind/ha. Jenis mangrove yang paling banyak ditemukan adalah Rhizophora mucronata. Estimasi total biomassa sebesar 1.230,29 ton/ha. Estimasi stok kandungan karbon sebesar 576,4 ton/ha. Besaran biomassa dan karbon tersimpan pada mangrove dipengaruhi oleh umur tegakan, diameter dan jumlah tegakan. Dengan demikian untuk mengurangi efek pemanasan global perlu dilakukan rehabilitasi dan konservasi mangrove untuk pengelolaan karbon berkelanjutan.Mangroves have an important role in dealing with global warming, namely as carbon sink. The role of mangroves as carbon traps and carbon sinks is determined by the size and density of the mangroves. The aim of this research is to estimate the biomass and carbon stored in mangroves in Ijo Estuary. The research was conducted in June-July 2022 in the Essential Ecosystem Area Ijo Estuary, Kebumen. The research material is biomass and carbon in mangroves. Data analyzed takes the form of mangrove vegetation data analysis which includes type, DBH, density. Calculation of mangrove biomass and carbon stock estimates uses a non-destructive method by measuring the diameter at breast height (DBH, 1.3 m), while carbon stocks are estimated at 46% of the biomass. The research results show that the mangrove density in Essential Ecosystem Area Ijo Estuary, Kebumen is in the high category with a value of 4,300 ind/ha. The most common type of mangrove found is Rhizophora mucronata. The estimated total biomass is 1,230.29 tonnes/ha. The estimated stock of carbon content is 576.4 tonnes/ha. The amount of biomass and carbon stored in mangroves is influenced by the age, diameter and number of mangrove stands. To reduce the effects of global warming, mangrove rehabilitation and conservation needs to be carried out for sustainable carbon management.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana nitrogen (N), fosfor (P), dan karbon organik (C) tersebar di sedimen pesisir Desa Buruk Bakul, Bengkalis. Daerah ini sangat menarik karena punya gabungan ekosistem: muara, mangrove alami, area rehabilitasi mangrove, dan tambak udang. Fokus utama adalah mencari tahu bagaimana kandungan N, P, dan C organik berbeda-beda di berbagai tempat, dan apa pengaruh kegiatan manusia serta kondisi ekosistem terhadap unsur- unsur tersebut. Sampel diambil dari empat lokasi yang berbeda, lalu dianalisis di laboratorium menggunakan metode standar untuk mengukur kadar nitrat, amonia, fosfat, dan karbon organik. Data diolah dengan menghitung persentase unsur hara dan perbandingan C:N:P. Hasilnya, karbon (C) adalah unsur yang paling banyak ditemukan di semua lokasi. Kandungan C tertinggi ada di hutan mangrove (0,007884%). Nitrogen (N) paling tinggi di area tambak stasiun 4, diduga karena limbah pakan dan aktivitas budidaya. Sementara itu, fosfor (P) paling rendah, hanya sekitar 0,000003–0,000010%, dan cenderung terikat kuat pada sedimen. Perbandingan C:N:P menunjukkan ketidakseimbangan, khususnya di ekosistem mangrove. Ini mungkin disebabkan oleh banyaknya serasah yang kualitasnya kurang baik dan proses penguraian yang lambat. Di tambak udang, kadar nitrogen meningkat sehingga menurunkan rasio C:N. Area rehabilitasi menunjukkan akumulasi unsur hara yang masih rendah, menandakan ekosistemnya belum stabil. Perbedaan jenis ekosistem dan aktivitas manusia sangat memengaruhi sebaran unsur hara. Informasi tentang distribusi C, N, dan P ini penting sebagai dasar untuk mengelola kualitas lingkungan dan memantau kesehatan ekosistem pesisir di Bengkalis. This study aimed to analyze the distribution of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and organic carbon (C) in the coastal sediments of Buruk Bakul Village, Bengkalis Regency, which consists of estuary, natural mangrove, mangrove rehabilitation, and shrimp pond ecosystems. The study focused on spatial variations of nutrients and the influence of anthropogenic activities and ecosystem conditions on N, P, and organic C content. Sediment samples were collected from four observation stations using purposive sampling and analyzed in the laboratory following APHA and SNI procedures for nitrate, ammonia, phosphate, and organic carbon determination. Quantitative descriptive analysis was performed by calculating nutrient percentages and C:N:P ratios. Results showed that carbon was the dominant component at all stations, with the highest value recorded in the mangrove forest (0.007884%). Nitrogen was highest in shrimp ponds due to feed waste and aquaculture activities, whereas phosphorus had the lowest concentration (0.000003–0.000010%) because of strong binding to sediments. The C:N:P ratios indicated significant imbalance, particularly in mangrove ecosystems, reflecting the dominance of low-quality litter and slow decomposition. Shrimp ponds showed increased nitrogen that lowered the C:N ratio, while the rehabilitation area had low nutrient accumulation in line with the developing ecosystem. So, nutrient distribution in sediments is strongly influenced by ecosystem type and human activities. These findings provide essential information for environmental management and monitoring of coastal ecosystem health in Bengkalis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pendapatan nelayan udang dogol (Metapenaeus monoceros) di Desa Sungsang, Kabupaten Banyuasin, Sumatera Selatan, dengan memperhatikan perbedaan musim tangkap, biaya operasional, serta keuntungan yang diperoleh. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif melalui survei sensus pada nelayan di empat desa Sungsang dengan instrumen kuisioner terstruktur. Data yang dikumpulkan meliputi identitas responden, hasil tangkapan, harga jual, biaya operasional dan pendapatan nelayan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil tangkapan udang berbeda signifikan antara musim paceklik (Desember–Maret) dengan rata-rata 1–3 kg per hari, dan musim melimpah (April–November) dengan rata-rata 5–20 kg per hari. Harga jual udang dogol di pasar lokal berkisar antara Rp 15.000–Rp 25.000 per kilogram. Rata-rata pendapatan tahunan nelayan pada musim paceklik sebesar Rp 296.905.000, sedangkan pada musim melimpah sebesar Rp 303.513.750, dengan rata-rata biaya operasional sebesar Rp 241.071.712 per tahun. Keuntungan bersih yang diperoleh nelayan mencapai Rp 59.137.663 per tahun atau sekitar Rp 4,9 juta per bulan. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa usaha penangkapan udang dogol masih layak secara ekonomi meskipun pendapatan nelayan sangat bergantung pada musim dan biaya operasional yang cukup tinggi. This study aims to analyze the income of dogol shrimp (Metapenaeus monoceros) fishers in Sungsang Village, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, by considering fishing season differences, operational costs, and the net profit obtained. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach using a census survey of fishers in four Sungsang villages with structured questionnaires. Data collected included respondent characteristics, catch volume, selling price, operational costs, and fishers’ income. The results showed that shrimp catches differed significantly between the lean season (December–March), averaging 1–3 kg per day, and the abundant season (April–November), averaging 5–20 kg per day. The local selling price of dogol shrimp ranged between IDR 15,000–25,000 per kilogram. The average annual income of fishers during the lean season was IDR 296,905,000, while during the abundant season it reached IDR 303,513,750, with annual operational costs averaging IDR 241,071,712. The net profit obtained was IDR 59,137,663 per year or approximately IDR 4.9 million per month. These findings indicate that dogol shrimp fishing remains economically feasible, although fishers’ income is highly dependent on seasonal variations and considerable operational costs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis struktur biaya dan kelayakan usaha penangkapan ikan menggunakan jaring Gill Net Monomultifilament (GNMM) di Desa Pasar Bangi, Kabupaten Rembang. Penelitian dilakukan pada Agustus–Oktober 2020 melalui survei lapangan dan purposive sampling terhadap satu unit usaha nelayan GNMM aktif. Analisis data menggunakan metode Net Present Value (NPV) dan Revenue–Cost Ratio (R/C). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa biaya investasi sebesar Rp98.000.000 dengan total biaya usaha Rp39.020.667, yang terdiri atas biaya tetap Rp25.526.667 dan biaya variabel Rp13.494.000. Pendapatan bersih nelayan sebesar Rp31.608.188 dengan keuntungan Rp6.081.521 per tahun. Nilai NPV sebesar Rp−42.304.566,47 dan R/C ratio sebesar 1,16. Nilai R/C > 1 menunjukkan usaha GNMM layak secara operasional, meskipun nilai NPV negatif menandakan pengembalian investasi jangka panjang belum optimal.

Abstract

Pulau Tidung Kecil dimanfaatkan sebagai area konservasi serta dikenal sebagai salah satu destinasi pariwisata. Kondisi tersebut dapat memengaruhi kesuburan dan sebaran ekosistem terumbu karang. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis perubahan luasan terumbu karang selama lima tahun terakhir (2020–2024) menggunakan citra Sentinel-2 melalui algoritma Lyzenga dan klasifikasi Maximum Likelihood, serta mengidentifikasi kondisi lapangan dengan perubahan luasan tersebut. Perubahan luasan terumbu karang di Pulau Tidung Kecil mengalami kenaikan dan penurunan sepanjang tahun 2020-2024. Luasan karang hidup pada tahun 2020 sebesar 21,01 ha, pada tahun 2021 sebesar 23,58 ha, kemudian pada tahun 2022 sebesar 23,25 ha, tahun 2023 sebesar 22,32 ha dan tahun 2024 sebesar 22,09 ha. Nilai Overall accuracy (OA) pada klasifikasi citra sebesar 90% dengan koefisien kappa sebesar 0,875 Penurunan luasan terumbu karang pada tahun 2021 – 2024 terjadi karena faktor antropogenik seperti aktivitas pariwisata, penangkapan ikan dengan alat tangkap yang tidak ramah lingkungan, serta pencemaran dari sampah dan limbah, sedangkan peningkatan luasan terumbu karang terjadi pada tahun 2020 – 2021 akibat berkurangnya tekanan aktivitas antropogenik selama masa pandemi COVID-19 dan adanya program rehabilitasi seperti transplantasi karang. Tidung Kecil Island is used as a conservation area and is known as a tourist destination. These conditions can affect the fertility and distribution of coral reef ecosystems. This study aims to analyze changes in coral reef area over the past five years (2020–2024) using Sentinel-2 imagery through the Lyzenga algorithm and Maximum Likelihood classification, as well as to identify field conditions associated with these changes in area. Changes in coral reef area on Tidung Kecil Island have shown increases and decreases throughout the years 2020–2024. The area of live coral in 2020 was 21.01 ha, in 2021 it was 23.58 ha, then in 2022 it was 23.25 ha, in 2023 it was 22.32 ha, and in 2024 it was 22.09 ha. The Overall Accuracy (OA) value for image classification was 90% with a Kappa coefficient of 0.875. The decline in coral reef area between 2021 and 2024 was due to anthropogenic factors such as tourism activities, fishing with environmentally unfriendly gear, and pollution from waste and sewage, while the increase in coral reef area occurred in 2020–2021 due to reduced anthropogenic pressure during the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of rehabilitation programs such as coral transplantation.

Abstract

Ulva lactuca merupakan sumberdaya hayati potensial untuk bahan baku pangan alternatif di Perairan Teluk Benoa, Bali. Kajian mengenai ketersediaan stok melalui perhitungan sebaran dan tutupan Ulva lactuca belum pernah dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sebaran dan tutupan Ulva lactuca serta kualitas air di Perairan Teluk Benoa, Bali. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif menggunakan teknik simple random sampling pada lima stasiun. Hasil sebaran Ulva lactuca pada lima stasiun berdasarkan perhitungan Indeks Morisita (Id) menunjukkan kategori seragam (uniform) dengan seluruh nilai < 1. Tutupan Ulva lactuva pada stasiun 1, 2, dan 5 tergolong sedang dengan nilai berturut-turut sebesar 33,69%, 32,62%, dan 34,58%. Stasiun 4 termasuk dalam kategori sangat padat dengan tutupan sebesar 91,96%, sedangkan stasiun 3 berada pada kategori padat dengan tutupan sebesar 55,52%. Hasil pengukuran kualitas air menunjukkan nilai dengan rata-rata parameter suhu sebesar 30°C, pH 7, salinitas 31 ppt, kecepatan arus sebesar 0,085 m/s, kecerahan 1,1 meter, serta konsentrasi nitrat sebesar 0,369 mg/L dan fosfat 0,224 mg/L. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata sebaran dan tutupan Ulva lactuca berada pada kategori sebaran seragam dan tutupan pada kategori sedang. Kondisi perairan Teluk Benoa menunjukkan kualitas perairan  yang cenderung optimal untuk persebaran Ulva lactuca. Pola sebaran Ulva lactuca yang relatif luas di seluruh stasiun pengamatan mengindikasikan potensi ketersediaan biomassa yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber bahan pangan berbasis makroalga.   Ulva lactuca is a potential biological resource for alternative food raw materials in the waters of Benoa Bay, Bali. No studies have been conducted to date on stock availability through calculations of the distribution and coverage of Ulva lactuca. This study aims to determine the distribution and coverage of Ulva lactuca as well as water quality in the waters of Benoa Bay, Bali. The method used in this study was quantitative descriptive analysis employing simple random sampling at five stations. The distribution results of Ulva lactuca at the five stations, based on the Morisita Index (Id) calculation, indicated a uniform category, with all values < 1. The Ulva lactuca coverage at stations 1, 2, and 5 was classified as moderate, with values of 33.69%, 32.62%, and 34.58%, respectively. Station 4 falls into the very dense category with a coverage of 91.96%, while Station 3 is in the dense category with a coverage of 55.52%. Water quality measurements showed average values for temperature at 30°C, pH 7, salinity 31 ppt, current velocity 0.085 m/s, turbidity 1.1 meters, as well as nitrate concentration at 0.369 mg/L and phosphate at 0.224 mg/L. The research results indicate that the average distribution and coverage of Ulva lactuca fall into the uniform distribution category and the moderate coverage category, respectively. The water conditions in Benoa Bay indicate water quality that is generally optimal for the distribution of Ulva lactuca. The relatively widespread distribution of Ulva lactuca across all observation stations indicates the potential availability of biomass that can be utilized as a source of macroalgae-based food.
