Abstract

This study examined the role of personal factors and motivation in shaping patient safety culture. It employed a cross-sectional design with path analysis to assess the relationship between personal factors, motivation, and patient safety culture. Data were collected from 89 nurses from different hospital units using validated and reliable questionnaires. The measured variables included personal factors (knowledge, attitude, competence, and personality), motivation, and patient safety culture. The path analysis indicated that personal factors significantly affect motivation (p = 0.004, β = 0.897) and patient safety culture (p = 0.008, β = 0.940). Besides, motivation affects patient safety culture (p = 0.007, β = 0.315). Further, motivation mediates the relationship between personal factors and patient safety culture (indirect effect = 0.282, total effect = 1.222). Therefore, personal factors play a significant role in shaping the culture of patient safety, either directly or indirectly. High motivation could increase adherence to patient safety protocols. Hospitals need to evaluate the personal factors of healthcare workers, such as their competence, training, experience, and understanding of patient safety, to build a culture of patient safety. Furthermore, strategies to increase motivation are needed.

Abstract

Historically, addiction treatment in the early 20th century emphasized punitive responses and abstinence-based models, often neglecting the underlying psychological and environmental contributors to substance use. In recent decades, a more holistic and integrative understanding of SUDs has emerged—one that acknowledges the significance of psychosocial dimensions in both the etiology and recovery processes. Resilience plays a critical role in the recovery process of individuals undergoing drug rehabilitation. The research employed a literature review design using a comprehensive strategy. Articles were sourced from international research journal databases accessed via the internet, specifically ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Google Scholar. All searches were conducted in May-June 2025. The keywords used in this literature review were adapted from the Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) terms, including "drugs user resilience” “rehabilitation” “family support” and “legal and coping skills. The initial search yielded 500 results, of which 5 were duplicates. Hand-searching relevant journal articles added one unique article. Of the 260 remaining results, 40 were retained after a title and abstract review. Following a full-text review, 40 articles were included in the study. A PRISMA flowchart outlining the search process. Family support emerged as a strong predictor of resilience. Several reports indicate that emotional regulation, self-acceptance, and secure coping skills correlate with higher resilience scores, while structured rehabilitation programs with multidisciplinary teams and institutional support appear to foster improved outcomes. Interventions such as expressive arts therapy, group counseling based on established models, and combined cognitive-behavioral/mindfulness approaches were associated with positive changes in resilience measures.

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease with a high prevalence, especially in low-income communities. Excessive salt consumption is a significant factor in increasing the risk of hypertension. This study aims to analyze the relationship between salt consumption patterns and the risk of hypertension in low-income families in Metenggeng Village, Bojongsari District. The study design was cross-sectional, involving 66 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and blood pressure measurements. Analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most respondents with high salt consumption were more likely to experience high blood pressure (78.6%) compared to respondents with low salt consumption (42,1%). With a p-value of 0.003 (<0.05), we conclude that excessive salt consumption patterns are significantly associated with increased blood pressure, thus requiring interventions such as nutritional education and salt restriction to prevent hypertension in vulnerable groups.

Abstract

Hypertension during pregnancy, including preeclampsia, remains one of the leading causes of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality worldwide. The complex pathogenesis of pregnancy-related hypertension involves endothelial dysfunction, impaired angiogenesis, oxidative stress, and immune dysregulation. Conventional pharmacological therapies continue to face limitations in terms of efficacy and safety for pregnant women. Therefore, there is an urgent need for safer and more effective molecular-based therapeutic alternatives, one of which is the use of probiotics. The aim of this systematic review is to analyse the potential effectiveness of probiotic administration as a novel therapeutic target for pregnancy-induced hypertension driven by primary and secondary factors. This systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. A comprehensive literature search was performed across databases including Google Scholar, PubMed, Taylor & Francis, and ScienceDirect, covering publications from 2015 to 2025. Inclusion criteria were applied based on the PICOS framework. A total of 14 preclinical in vivo studies met the inclusion criteria. Probiotics such as Akkermansia muciniphila, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus spp., Limosilactobacillus spp., and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum demonstrated significant effectiveness in reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure, improving endothelial function, suppressing inflammation, and mitigating oxidative stress. These effects were mediated through mechanisms involving gut microbiota modulation and regulation of the renin-angiotensin system. Probiotics hold promise as a safe and effective alternative therapy for reducing hypertension during pregnancy and may support the development of future non-pharmacological, microbiota-based therapeutic strategies.

Abstract

Stroke is a non-communicable disease with a high incidence in Indonesia and is a major cause of disability and death. Families play an important role in post-stroke patient care at home but often feel unprepared due to limited knowledge, skills, and support. The use of technology through Telenursing After Stroke Care (TASC) is expected to improve family preparedness in caring for stroke patients at home. This study aims to analyze the effect of TASC on family preparedness in caring for stroke patients at home. The study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test approach. The sample consisted of 35 families of stroke patients at RSUD Kota Mataram, selected using a total sampling technique. The TASC intervention was carried out for 1 month with two weekly sessions, including education on stroke concepts, family roles, basic home care, complication prevention, stress management, and daily care planning. The Preparedness for Caregiving Scale (PCS) was used as the instrument, The results of the validity and reliability test of this instrument, the validity test with Pearson product moment has a value of more than 0.320 and the results of the reliability test with Cronbach's alpha have a value of 0.9333. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test. The average family preparedness score before the intervention was 17.29 (SD = 3.47) and increased to 23.23 (SD = 4.35) after the intervention. The paired t-test showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference in family preparedness after the TASC intervention. The use of TASC is effective in improving family preparedness in caring for stroke patients at home. This intervention can be an appropriate strategy to support discharge planning, prevent complications, and reduce rehospitalization rates.

Abstract

The Indonesian Association of Nurse Anesthetists (IPAI) plays a crucial role in strengthening the professional standards of Nurse Anesthetists, particularly through the formulation of competency standards, codes of ethics, and the implementation of credentialing mechanisms. This study aims to analyze the implementation of IPAI’s strategic role within the applicable legal framework, particularly referring to the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number HK.01.07/MENKES/1416/2023. The research employs a normative juridical method with a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing The primary data sources consisted of statutory regulations, including the Decree of the Minister of Health No. HK.01.07/MENKES/1416/2023, Law No. 36 of 2014, Law No. 17 of 2023, and Minister of Health Regulation No. 34 of 2020.and secondary data from the documentation of the Bali Provincial Board of IPAI. The findings indicate that although IPAI has obtained normative legitimacy within the national health law system, the implementation of its organizational functions still encounters several obstacles. These include uneven distribution of members across regions, weak regulatory enforcement for healthcare facilities, and limited involvement of IPAI in the credentialing process, all of which contribute to disparities in service quality. Furthermore, the absence of sanction provisions in KMK 1416/2023 leads to low compliance with the established professional standards. Therefore, regulatory harmonization between the KMK and Law Number 17 of 2023, institutional strengthening of IPAI at the regional level, increased legal literacy among health professionals, and the integration of a cross-sectoral digital credentialing system are necessary.

Abstract

The elderly are a vulnerable age group that experiences a decrease in physical, psychological, and social functions, which has an impact on the ability to carry out daily activities (Activity of Daily Living) so that the elderly need the help of others in fulfilling their daily needs. Nurses have an important role in providing health education to improve the independence of the elderly, especially in primary care areas such as the Oekabiti Health Center. This study aims to explore nurses experiences on improving the Activity Daily Living of elderly. This study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Participants were collected by purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 7 nurses who have more than 6 months of experience and are active in providing health education to the elderly. Data analysis was carried out with a thematic approach. This study resulted in five main themes, namely: (1) Nurses have a good understanding of health education; (2) health education is needed to improve the ADL of the elderly, (3) strategies for providing health education for the elderly, (4) challenges in providing health education for the elderly, (5) unavailability of health education media. This study shows that nurses have a good understanding of the importance of health education to improve the ADL skills of the elderly. Educational strategies are carried out personally and contextually, although they still face obstacles such as low health literacy and lack of educational media. Institutional support and media provision are needed to optimize elderly education.

Abstract

Orthopedic surgery aims to treat musculoskeletal disorders; however, postoperative recovery often presents functional limitations. Digital interventions and telerehabilitation are increasingly being applied in nursing, although evidence of their effectiveness remains limited. This systematic review evaluated the effectiveness of these technologies in supporting postoperative orthopedic recovery and identified their contributions to evidence-based nursing practice. A systematic review following the PRISMA guidelines was conducted using Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, and SAGE databases. Randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies published between 2015 and 2025 involving adult postoperative orthopedic patients were included. The interventions were compared with conventional rehabilitation. Six outcome domains were evaluated: physical function, quality of life, pain, psychosocial aspects, self-efficacy, patient compliance and satisfaction. A total of 1,508 articles were identified, of which 16 studies met the inclusion criteria. Digital-based interventions and telerehabilitation consistently improved physical function (e.g., Timed Up and Go, Functional Independence Measure), increased quality of life (EQ-5D, SF-36), and reduced postoperative pain more rapidly than conventional rehabilitation did. Improvements were also observed in anxiety, depression, self-efficacy, health literacy, patient satisfaction, and adherence to the rehabilitation program. Digital and telerehabilitation interventions effectively support orthopedic postoperative recovery, positively affecting physical, psychosocial, and behavioral outcomes. A multimodal model integrating education, exercise, occupational therapy, and psychosocial support based on self-efficacy and biopsychosocial approaches yielded optimal results. Integration into surgical nursing practice is recommended, with attention to technological infrastructure and clinician training.
