Abstract

The aim of this research was to know how students completed their academic assignments, the reason why they completed the assignment the way they did, the effects from their choice of approach, and how to solve them. Data collection was done by using documentation, think aloud technique, and focus group discussion. The data analysis was done by using Glaser and Strauss model. The results showed that 91.1% of Civic and Pancasila Education students completed their academic assignments by copying from the Internet. Internal factors consisted of laziness, hedonistic attitude, the tendency to get everything instantly, and lack of awareness about the importance of developing positive mentality and noble character. Meanwhile, external factors consisted of the availability of information on the Internet and the type of task assigned. The effect of such tendency could be categorized into two kinds: short-term and long-term effect. The short-term effect was that the mastery of students’ knowledge was only on the level of “knowing” (C1) and slightly shifted to the level of “understanding” (C2), incomplete and undetailed information about the materials, the materials were not stored in the long term memory, and the students’ way of thinking was not systematic and linear. The long-term effect included the students’ cognitive structure as well as their character which would not be well developed. There were two solutions to address the issue, namely instrumental and mental solution. Instrumental solution included the provision of textbooks, reference books, and the courses’ list of reference books, while mental solution included developing students’ awareness about the importance of scientific way of thinking, building a good attitude and character in everyday’s life, including in the learning process.

Abstract

The development of historical thinking skills is a significant accomplishment in achieving history learning objectives, and it requires special attention. To enhance these skills, students must practice historical research methods, which can support their historical thinking abilities. Through RnD, this study aims to improve students' historical thinking skills by creating innovative learning models. The research results indicate that the implementation of the developed product had a positive impact. The t-test post test of multiple choice questions in both classes showed a sig (2-tailed) level of 0.000, and the post test of historical thinking skills also showed a sig (2-tailed) level of 0.000. Both gains were below 0.05, indicating an average post-test difference in multiple choice and historical thinking skills in both classes. Based on the t-test results, we can conclude that the product positively affected the experimental class's learning outcomes and historical thinking skill

Abstract

One of the most important steps in having educational process with the media. The media itself represents the component of Language Leaning. In researchers’ context, which is Math, the subject matter represents the content itself. Most of the times, our students face difficulty in learning the content—Math subject. Therefore, the objective of this study is to produce an instructional media that might ease the students in learning Mathematics easier and meaningful. Our interest is developing an instructional media that help students to also learn culture as its additional material. We develop ETHIC GAME (Ethnomathematics Game) as an integrated and augmented reality-based (AR) instructional media that combine mathematics and culture. Based on Edgar Dale’s theory on learning, the students can undergo the meaningful learning experience when they learn, observe, and listen to the media by themselves. We decide then to make an instructional media that also use such kind of principle that is TRINGO (Ngerti, Ngrasa, Nglakoni – or Understanding, Experiencing, Doing) by Ki Hadjar Dewantara. The development method used in this study refers to Lee Owen model of development. In the end, by having ETHIC GAME as instructional media, students learn more insightful and meaningful Mathmatics and culture—not only to make the learning process more authentic, but also to make the learners preserve the national culture. Indicates how easy the users in using the application which shows 100% of the users stated that there is no difficulty in using it. So, this instructional media can be used easily and fun

Abstract

Current educational needs are required to adapt to global needs. The education system must be able to keep up with market demand. This has an impact on shifting educational ideology, including discourse in it. This study aims to uncover the discourse of entrepreneurship school at The Naff Elementary School Kediri, East Java. This study uses a qualitative method with a hermeneutic approach. This study uses Michel Foucault's theory of discourse analysis. The results of this study indicate that the discourse of entrepreneurship school has an impact on the education system with the ideology of capitalism behind it. The learning approach with the CTL or Contextual Teaching and Learning method is one form of revitalizing education based on the discourse of entrepreneurship school

Abstract

The aim of this current research was to know the relationship between students’ scores from the school-based assessment and their readiness, motivation, and national examination scores. The method of this research was survey. The study involved 364 students from some of senior high schools in Ngawi. The data were analyzed using path analysis. There were four students who were considered outliers and should therefore be excluded in the study, resulting in the final data from 360 students. The results of this research showed that there was a direct relationship between students’ scores from the school-based assessment with students’ motivation and their scores in national examination, but there was no relationship between the school-based scores with students’ readiness. In addition, there was an indirect relationship between motivation and school-based scores with readiness. The research also indicated that there was a negative correlation between school-based scores with readiness, motivation, and students’ scores in the national examination in mathematics.

Abstract

This study intends to explore Indonesian Senior High School learners’ second/foreign language (L2) Willingness to Communicate (WTC) in English. It employed a Google Form questionnaire as the method of collecting data. 159 L2 learners from more than six islands in Indonesia participated in this study. This study found that learners generally reported a moderate level of L2 WTC. They were moderately enthusiastic to speak in English class, moderately confident to use English in communication, and moderately willing to use English in small groups and pair work activities. However, seen from rather big standard deviations of the mean scores, the participants’ responses may be very heterogeneous, suggesting rather spread out values away from the mean scores. Pedagogical implications include promoting small-group activities and minimising whole-class discussions.
