Abstract

Background. Exploratory factor analysis can be used as a guideline for constructing instrument homogeneity. Purpose. Factor analysis is the queen of analytical methods because of its strength, flexibility and closeness to the nature of scientific aims and objectives. Method. Roughly speaking, an instrument whose items measure only one trait in general and can determine the indicators of a research variable. To determine the number of indicators based on eigenvalues greater than or equal to one, both in the initial factor analysis and in further analysis. Results. A statement item is declared eligible for inclusion in a factor if the item has a factor load greater than or equal to 0.30 on only one factor. Similarly, an indicator is declared feasible if its factor load is greater than or equal to 0.30. Conclusion. The item that has the highest factor load on a factor contributes the most to that factor, so that item is used as the basis for guidance in naming a factor as the name of the indicator.

This research aims to analyze and conclude information about Theo Van Leeuwen's exclusion and inclusion strategies in the East Kalimantan Tribune news when stopping the ladyboy event in Samarinda City. Purpose. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in Indonesia are vulnerable to discrimination such as inequality in education, employment, health, social assistance, and freedom of expression or public space in society. Tribun Kaltim is a mass media that reported the termination of the ladyboy event in Samarinda. Method. This research method uses critical discourse analysis modeled by Theo Van Leeuwen to find out how one party or group is featured or omitted in the text. The research found 5 exclusion data and 32 inclusion data. Results. The results are in accordance with Theo Van Leeuwen's theory that a certain group or social actor can be eliminated and even marginalized in the text or discourse. The results also reinforce the concept of the hierarchy of media content influence in mass communication studies, which understands how news texts by certain media agencies can be influenced by internal and external factors, such as the background of journalists, media reader segmentation, media organization policies, and external news sources from media organizations. Conclusion. From the research results, it can be concluded that there are 5 exclusion data and 32 inclusion data.

The data sources were students and teachers of elementary schools and madrasah Ibtidaiyah. The research locations are in Malang and Tulungagung. Results. The results of data analysis show (1) with a contextual approach, 100% of learners can make the cover and content of vocabulary used in daily conversation; (2) with the role playing method, Karmina linking learning is 100% complete, because learners can turn dialog into Karmina linking when playing roles; and (3) the Karmina linking learning model using a contextual approach and role playing method makes the learning atmosphere active, dynamic, fun, and meaningful. Conclusion. With these findings, it is suggested that Elementary School and Madrasah Ibtidaiyah teachers can use these findings for pantun learning to make it fun and meaningful for students, so that the nation's cultural heritage as a whole can be preserved.

Background. Quality education is inseparable from how leaders can empower all elements in schools by school conditions. Improving the quality of school-based education, starting from the state of schools that are believed to have weaknesses, is time for improvements. Purpose. Therefore educational leaders must be observant in seeing which conditions are most important for improvement or change so that the goal of improving the quality of school-based education achieves its goals. Making changes in the context of improving the quality of education cannot be done alone but requires the full support of all elements of the school, starting from educators, education staff, students and the school community. Method. This article uses the literature review method by analyzing several research results and some literature related to educational leadership and school-based quality. The literature review method collects data using various literature, such as books, journals, and other references that are considered appropriate to the research topic Results. Effective educational leadership can cover all aspects of schools' need to improve quality, especially the quality of teaching staff as the frontline. The qualified teaching staff is a benchmark for school progress which will eventually become the quality of education. Therefore, it needs to be empowered according to the expertise possessed so that the quality of teaching staff can be improved sustainably. Educational leadership in carrying out their duties must be distinct from their leadership style, which also affects the quality of education. Conclusion. In addition, educational leadership also has competencies that are part of the leader's self to realize the achievement of educational goals.

Abstract

Background: Gamification applications serve as tools for students to independently construct knowledge about lesson content, potentially surpassing achievements gained through conventional methods. The study of gamification is especially important for learning the Periodic Table of Elements, a fundamental topic in chemistry. Purpose: This article aims to explore the application of gamification in learning the Periodic Table of Elements between 2019 and 2023. Methods: A systematic literature review was conducted using online databases such as Scopus and Web of Science to gather relevant information on the subject. Keywords like "Periodic Table," "Teaching Approach," and "Gamification" were used to search for studies related to the topic. The review included literature from 14 countries: Pakistan, Indonesia, Japan, Spain, the United States, Macedonia, Israel, Morocco, Brazil, Portugal, Croatia, Mexico, and Malaysia. Results: The review focused on identifying commonly used gamification methods and assessing the impact of gamification on motivation, academic achievement, and usability. The findings revealed that board games, digital cards, puzzles, and Virtual Labs were the main gamification approaches used. A comprehensive analysis of 18 literature review articles showed that motivation was the primary impact studied in mastering the periodic table using gamification. Conclusions: This study has significant implications for Chemistry teachers, STEM researchers, and the Teacher Education Division in Malaysia’s Education Ministry. By understanding learners’ preferences, educators can tailor their instructional methods to better meet students’ specific needs.
