Abstract

Sandwich Generation female leaders have unique roles and characteristics. One of their most prominent characteristics is their ability to fulfill multiple roles simultaneously, which requires them to adapt creatively to ever-changing dynamics. This creative adaptability is critical for leaders to manage their roles effectively, achieve work-life balance, and maintain overall well-being in the workplace. Therefore, this research aims to adapt the Creative Adaptability Scale measuring tool into an Indonesian version. The respondents in this research were 344 female leaders of the Sandwich Generation. Validity is ensured through assessment by four expert judges who are competent in the field of psychology. Construct validity was explained using Jeffrey's Amazing Statistics Program version 0.19.1. Predictive validity was analyzed using the Workplace Well-Being questionnaire. The ability to adapt creatively was found to correlate positively with wellbeing at work. Discriminant validity was explained using the Cognitive Flexibility Scale. The results of the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) show that the Creative Adaptability Scale has a fit model and meets GoF standards. Reliability analysis using the Cronbach Alpha coefficient produces a result of 0.947, while the McDonald coefficient is 0.955. In conclusion, this research shows that the Indonesian version of the Creative Adaptation Scale has adequate validity and reliability for use with samples that have special characteristics of female leaders in the Sandwich Generation.

Abstract

Domestic violence (DV) is a recurring social problem with serious consequences for women’s safety and well-being, yet it often remains hidden due to cultural norms and barriers to reporting. This study aims to develop an in-depth understanding of the forms, triggering factors, impacts, and handling practices of domestic violence against women managed by the Regional Technical Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPT PPA) in Makassar City. The study adopts a qualitative case study approach, drawing on primary data from three female survivors of domestic violence who had received services from UPT PPA, including one participant who experienced violence as a child within the nuclear family. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, contextual observation, and document analysis, and were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings identify three interrelated forms of violence: psychological abuse, physical violence, and economic neglect, with psychological abuse emerging as the most consistent form and frequently serving as the basis for the escalation of other forms of violence. Triggering factors include poor emotional regulation, aggression, economic pressure, prejudice within intimate relationships, and conflicts arising from social media use, which are further reinforced by patriarchal norms and the cultural value of siri’ that inhibits reporting. The impacts of domestic violence are layered and enduring, encompassing physical injury, emotional trauma, diminished self-esteem, relational distrust, and social isolation. This study focuses on survivors’ experiences within the UPT PPA service system rather than on policy evaluation. The findings underscore the importance of strengthening trauma-informed care, systematic post-mediation monitoring, and culturally sensitive and safe reporting strategies to enhance victim protection and recovery.

Abstract

The emerging adulthood stage has now reached a period where individuals are ready to begin the search for a suitable profession, find a life partner, build a new family, and pursue their childhood aspirations. Conventional societal and personal expectations put pressure on emerging adults. When these expectations cannot be met, it creates distress and a sense of dissatisfaction among emerging adults. We made assumptions about the impact of perfectionism and self-esteem on the overall satisfaction experienced during the young adult phase. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to determine the correlation between perfectionism and self-esteem with the level of life satisfaction. This study utilized a quantitative methodology, using a non-probability sampling technique to recruit 175 individuals who met the criteria of being between 18 to 25 years old and Indonesian. The results of this study found that perfectionism and self-esteem are able to predict life satisfaction simultaneously. Self-esteem positively affects life satisfaction. Surprisingly, perfectionism also positively affects life satisfaction. However, the correlates of perfectionist aspects were found to be significantly positive to life satisfaction, namely parental expectation, personal standards, and organization. Future research is expected to provide a more complete picture in explaining the influence between these variables.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between authoritative parenting and academic hardiness with the moderating role of optimism among high school students in South Tangerang City. A total of 540 respondents, selected using snowball sampling, completed three measurement instruments: the Revised Academic Hardiness Scale (RAHS), the Authoritative Parenting Index (API), and the Revised Life Orientation Test (LOT-R). Data were analyzed using Hayes' Moderation Process Analysis (Model 1). The results showed that authoritative parenting had a significant positive effect on academic hardiness, with a regression coefficient of β = 0.1078. The model produced an R value of 0.8754, indicating a very strong relationship between the independent variables (authoritative parenting and optimism) and the dependent variable (academic hardiness). The R² value of 0.7664 indicates that 76.64% of the variation in academic hardiness can be explained by authoritative parenting and optimism. Furthermore, optimism plays a moderating role that strengthens the relationship between authoritative parenting and academic hardiness. This study concludes that the development of academic hardiness is influenced not only by family parenting but also by students' optimism, which is an internal factor that strengthens academic hardiness.

Abstract

Non-Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI) is a self-harm behavior carried out by individuals without any intention of committing suicide. Previous studies have found that NSSI behavior can be triggered by exposure to adverse childhood experiences (ACE) or bad experiences in childhood, and one of the protective factors that can play a role is mindfulness. So this study aims to determine the role of mindfulness in moderating the relationship between adverse childhood experiences and nonsuicidal self-injury. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling. The research participants were generation Z aged 12-27 years in Java who had committed self-harm without any intention of committing suicide. Data collection used the DSHI scale to measure NSSI, the CTQ-SF scale to measure ACE, and the FFMQ-10 scale to measure mindfulness. Data were analyzed using the Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) test and simple regression test. The results of the study showed that mindfulness significantly moderated the relationship between adverse childhood experiences and nonsuicidal self-injury, adverse childhood experiences significantly predicted NSSI, and mindfulness significantly predicted NSSI.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines hyper-masculine behavior among female players who engage in gender swapping by using male avatars in massively multiplayer online games (MMOGs). A quantitative descriptive design was employed, involving 300 female participants aged 12–27 years. Data were collected using a self-report scale measuring aggression, dominance, and competitiveness. The findings indicate that overall hyper-masculine behavior was in the high category (74.33%). Aggression showed the highest level (85.33%), followed by competitiveness (71.33%), while dominance was moderate (52.33%). These findings suggest that gender swapping may function as an adaptive strategy for female players to navigate male-dominated gaming environments.

Abstract

Human information processing can be disrupted through auditory channels, in a form of noise, including background sounds such as music. Research on the effects of lyrical versus non-lyrical music in learning and work has produced mixed findings. The present study investigates whether reaction time in selective attention differs between individuals exposed to pop music with lyrics and those exposed to its instrumental version. This study adopted a quantitative experimental design. The stimulus consisted of the same pop song presented in two versions: with lyrics and instrumental (without lyrics). Participants were 60 university students aged 18–24 years, both male and female, with no reported hearing impairments or visual disorders such as color blindness. Data were analyzed using Independent Samples T-Test to compare the two groups. The findings revealed a significant difference: participants who listened to instrumental music exhibited faster reaction times, indicating stronger sustained attention (t (58) = 2.673, p < 0.05). These results suggest that instrumental music is more suitable for individuals seeking to maintain focus while studying or working. This finding is useful for those who aim to create a more conducive learning or working environment by using instrumental music to minimize distractions and support individuals’ cognitive performance.

Abstract

The era of digitalization increases the use of social media, one of which is Instagram social media. Through various features provided, Instagram can allow individuals to display the desired ideal body image, so that exposure to the ideal body can have an impact on the psychological condition of individuals, one of which is body dissatisfaction. This study aims to investigate the influence of self-criticism on the body dissatisfaction of women emerging adulthood Instagram users in DKI Jakarta. This research design uses a correlational quantitative design with sampling techniques in this study using a non-probability sampling method with a type of accidental sampling with a total of 390 participants. The study used two scales that have been adapted by researchers, the Body Dissatisfaction Scale for Women to measure body dissatisfaction and the Form of Self-Criticizing/Attacking & Self-Reassuring Scale to measure self-criticism. The data analysis technique in this study is simple linear regression. The results of this study show that the accepted hypothesis that self-criticism has a significant influence on the body dissatisfaction of women emerging adulthood Instagram users in DKI Jakarta (t = 19,165; p = 0,000 < 0,05; R2 = 0,486). In this case, self-criticism contributed to body dissatisfaction by 48.6%. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the higher the self-criticism, the higher the body dissatisfaction in women in their emerging adulthood.
