Abstract

This research is to find out Psychological Well-Being (PWB) of  38  teenagers at SOS Desa Taruna Kinderdorf Bandung. The method uses descriptive method by using survey technique. Purposive sampling technique is used for selecting samples. The measuring tool used is the tool developed by Ryff (1989) and modified by the researcher. The tool consists of 84 items. The data is statistically analyzed in the form of perecentage using SPSS 17.0 and the result was 64 items with validity number between 0.308 to 0.657 and reliability of 0.82. Based on the data  analysis, the result shows that the  teenagers at SOS Desa Taruna Kinderdorf Bandung have equal percentage PWB degree, namely 50% of high PWB and 50% of low PWB. The PWB has six dimensions. They are influenced by some factors, among others related with age, sex, education level, and “Big Five Personality” types. The researcher suggests a further research on the contribution of some factors that  influence PWB towards the degree of PWB and its dimensions.  Furthermore, a further research is needed to be done for teenagers at Kinderdorf Bandung before and after living in the dormitory to know exactly if there is a different degree of PWB and its dimensions. The director of SOS Desa Taruna Kinderdorf Bandung is able to re-examine a caring system to teenagers who live outside Lembang and design a caring system that is more suitable for them in order to improve their PWB dimensions. Besides, psychologists at SOS Desa Taruna Kinderdorf Bandung are able to take a significant role in councelling, face to face or group councelling, improving low PWB and its dimensions of teenagers of SOS Desa Taruna Kinderdorf Bandung.  Keywords: psychological well-being, teenagers, SOS Desa Taruna Kinderdorf Bandung.

Abstract

Objektif:Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui peran parenting style dan religious coping secara bersama-sama maupun parsial terhadap resiliency pada remaja dengan HIV/AIDS di Denpasar-Bali. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan 103 subjek remaja dengan HIV/AIDS di Denpasar-BaliMetode: Penelitian menggunakan desain kuantitatif dengan 103 responden remaja penderita HIV/AIDS yang tinggal di DenpasarBali. Data penelitian diolah menggunakan multiple regression dan linear regression. Temuan: Berdasarkan analisis yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini, diketahui bahwa: parenting style Ayah dan religious coping bersama-sama berperan terhadap resiliency (ρ < .05, R2 = 0,384); parenting style Ibu dan religious coping bersama-sama memiliki peran terhadap resiliency (ρ < .05, R2 = 0,365).Kesimpulan:Perhitungan secara parsial diperoleh hasil bahwa parenting style authoritative baik Ayah maupun Ibu, parenting style Ibu authoritarian, parenting style Ayah dan negative religious coping, parenting style Ibu dan positive religious coping, serta parenting style Ibu dan negative religious coping yang memiliki peran terhadap resiliency, sedangkan variabel lain tidak berperan terhadap resiliency.

Abstract

Many tertiary students do not complete all the steps of their tertiary education because they encounter difficulties in adjusting themselves to university life. The aim of this research was to determine the role of upbringing (by both father and mother) and the “college self-efficacy” (the self-confidence of the students in completing their study obligations) regarding college adjustment (CA) [US term] of first-year students of the Faculty of Technology of University X [name concealed], in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. 139 students were involved in this research, and completed an instrument to measure the research variables. The research data was processed, using regression analysis, to determine the contributions of patterns of upbringing and self-efficacy of the students, regarding college adjustment. Based upon the analysis conducted in the research, the results indicated that the parenting style and college self-efficacy generally had a role in the college adjustment of the student. However, the results more especially indicated that a pattern of permissive maternal upbringing had a significant negative contribution to their CA, and that college self-efficacy had a significant positive contribution to that CA. This paper then discusses the magnitude of the role of the parent, compared to the self-efficacy of the student in his or her achievements, when undertaking tertiary education. Banyak mahasiswa tidak menyelesaikan jenjang sarjana karena mengalami hambatan penyesuaian diri di masa kuliah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui peran pola pengasuhan (ayah dan ibu) dan college self-efficacy (keyakinan diri mahasiswa menyelesaikan kewajiban studi) terhadap college adjustment (CA) mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik tahun pertama Universitas X Bandung. 139 mahasiswa tergabung dalam penelitian ini dan mengisi instrumen yang mengukur variabel penelitian. Data penelitian diolah dengan analisis regresi untuk menentukan kontribusi pola asuh dan keyakinan diri mahasiswa terhadap college adjustment. Berdasarkan analisis yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini, hasil penelitian menunjukkan parenting style dan college self-efficacy secara umum berperan terhadap college adjustment mahasiswa. Akan tetapi, hasil lebih khusus menunjukkan pola asuh permisif ibu berkontribusi signifikan negatif terhadap CA, dan college self-efficacy berkontribusi signifikan positif terhadap CA. Tulisan ini kemudian membahas besaran peran orangtua apabila dibandingkan dengan keyakinan diri mahasiswa dalam keberhasilannya menempuh pendidikan tinggi.

Abstract

Marital satisfaction is something which every couple would like to achieve. Adult attachment and family resilience can affect marital satisfaction. This study had the objective to determine the effect of adult attachment and family resilience on marital satisfaction with married female respondents. Then it observed in depth the relationship between the dimensions of adult attachment, family resilience and marital satisfaction. This study was conducted on 167 respondents with the characteristics of wives; in the early adulthood with the marriage age of more than five years; monogamous and in their first marriage. The measuring instrument used was Adult attachment using the Experience in Close Relationship Scale–Short Form (ECR-S), the Walsh Family Resilience Questionnaire for family resilience, and ENRICH Marital Satisfaction Scale for marital satisfaction. Each measuring instrument was tested for validity and reliability. Data processing used multiple regression test to analyze the effects and the effects were seen simultaneously and observed to see the effects partially. The results of the analysis show that all have significant effects.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penghayatan peers support terhadap school engagement pada Siswa Kelas X SMA “X” Bandung sejumlah 292 siswa. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian pengaruh. Alat ukur yang digunakan disusun oleh Savitri (2018) yang berasal dari teori school engagement oleh Fredricks (2004), Alat ukur peers support disusun oleh peneliti berdasarkan teori peers support oleh House (1981). Berdasarkan pengolahan data ditemukan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari peers support terhadap tipe-tipe school engagement, yaitu behavioral engagement (R2 = 0,177), emotional engagement (R2 = 0,236), dan cognitive engagement (R2 = 0,132).

Abstract

Distance learning presents its own challenges for students. In the midst of these challenges, teachers and parents have a role in the learning process of the student engagement. This study aims to determine the effect of Teacher and Parent Support towards Student Engagement at the level of high school students in Bandung. The Samples came from two private senior high schools (n = 188). The Sampling is using proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The measuring instrument used is The Student Engagement Scale with a reliability of .879, The Teacher Support Scale with a reliability of .950 and The Parent Support Scale with a Chi-square value = 2181.02, df = 804, p = 0.00, RMSEA = 0.067, NFI = 0.95, CFI = 0.97, SRMR = 0.055, and GFI = 0.81. The results of the study simultaneously show that there is a significant influence between Teacher Support and Parent Support on Student Engagement. The result of this research also shows that there is an effect of Teacher Support on Student Engagement and the influence of Parent Support on Student Engagement. The support provided by teachers and parents will increase student engagement in learning activities.

Abstract

Abstrak. Salah satu cara dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa di sekolah yaitu bagaimana peran guru dalam mendukung siswanya. Penelitian ini menggunakan Teori Teacher Support (Skinner et al.,1993) dan School Engagement (Fredricks et al., 2004) untuk mengetahui hubungan teacher support dan school engagement pada siswa SMP “X” di Bandung. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMP “X” di Bandung berjumlah 197 siswa yang dipilih berdasarkan teknik proportionate stratified random sampling. Responden mengisi angket kuesioner school engagement yang disusun oleh Savitri dan rekan peneliti lainnya (2016) berjumlah 27 item dan teacher support yang disusun oleh peneliti dan Fathia Prihandini (2020) berjumlah 34 item melalui google form. Skor masing-masing dukungan guru diregresikan dengan skor school engagement siswa menggunakan uji regresi ganda. Berdasarkan uji statistik menggunakan spss versi 25, teacher support secara simultan memprediksi school engagement siswa sebesar 30,3% (R2=0,303; F=27,988; p=0,000). Secara parsial, hanya involvement yang dapat memprediksi school engagement siswa (B=0,309; p=0,001), dan autonomy serta structure tidak memprediksi school engagement siswa (B=0,138 ;p=0,141 dan B=0,160 ; p=0,120).Kesimpulan yang diperoleh yaitu terdapat hubungan teacher support dalam meningkatkan school engagement siswa. Apabila dilihat secara terpisah, teacher involvement yang paling dapat memprediksi school engagement siswa SMP “X” Bandung. Peneliti mengajukan saran yaitu melihat konstruk teacher support sebagai satu kesatuan yang utuh. Selain itu, peneliti mengajukan saran kepada pihak sekolah untuk merancang dan memberikan intervensi kepada guru-guru dalam meningkatkan praktik pengajaran yang mendukung siswa di sekolah.Kata Kunci: Teacher Support, School Engagement, Siswa SMP

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the academic peer support dimension on school engagement at SMP "X" in Bandung. The subjects in this study were the entire population of SMP "X" students with a total of 160 students out of 171 students (there were 4 students who were not willing and 7 students not present. The measuring tool used is Academic Peer Support using the PFASS (Perceived Peer/Friend Academic Support Scale) measuring tool compiled by Jennifer Chen (2005) based on Jennifer Chen`s theory and has been translated by researchers, consisting of 25 items with a reliability of 0.744. The School Engagement measuring tool was developed by Alvin Gultom (2020) based on Friedricks' theory (2004), consisting of 27 items with a reliability of 0.722. This research method uses the effect method which is analyzed by linear regression test using the SPSS 21.0 Version Program. Based on data processing, the results showed that there was a significant influence on the dimensions of academic peer support on school engagement (F = 11,500, R2 = 22.9%; p <0.05), namely interpersonal support (ß= 0.22 , p > 0.05), cognitive support (ß = 0.646, p < 0.05), emotional support (ß = 0.243 , p > 0.05) and instrumental support (ß = 0.243, p > 0.05). Suggestions from researchers are facilitating the occurrence of cognitive support from peers to other fellow students. Cognitive support can be obtained by involving students who excel in groups to support students who have learning difficulties.

Abstract

Currently, many high school students are confused and feel unsure when it comes to choosing their future major or career. The research conducted aims to see the impact of Career Exploration (CE) through a training program in improving Career Decision Making Self-Efficacy (CDMSE) of high school students in Bandung. This study uses an experimental method. There were 6 students in class XI who participated in the experimental group and the control group. Each participant completed a pre-test and post-test questionnaire for CE and CDMSE. The data analysis technique was carried out by different tests using the Mann-Whitney U and Wilcoxon Rank statistical tests with the help of the SPSS 25.0 program. It was found that CE, through the training program, can be significantly effective in improving the CDMSE of students. The results of the measurement of the magnitude of the effect stated that the intervention in the form of career exploration training had a great impact on CDMSE.

Abstract

Guru adalah figur di sekolah yang berperan penting dalam ketercapaian tujuan pendidikan. Kemampuan guru untuk memfasilitasi proses belajar siswa dan memotivasi siswa untuk mengikuti aktivitas pembelajaran di kelas merupakan salah satu kompetensi dasar yang perlu dikembangkan oleh guru. Peningkatan pengetahuan dan kemampuan guru untuk mengaplikasikan teknik-teknik learning dan melakukan pendekatan motivasional yang tepat terhadap siswa inilah yang menjadi tujuan dalam pelatihan tentang “learning and motivation”. Pelatihan dilakukan secara hybrid, sedangkan metode pelatihan yang diberikan meliputi direct instruction, small-group discussion, inquiry teaching, dan experiential learning. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi level reaksi, seluruh peserta memberikan reaksi yang positif terhadap sesi-sesi pelatihan yang diberikan. Sedangkan berdasarkan evaluasi hasil belajar peserta, pelatihan ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman dan sikap guru mengenai materi learning, namun mereka belum menunjukkan adanya perubahan dalam pemahaman konseptual atas teori motivation; kondisi ini didiskusikan lebih lanjut. Secara umum dapat disimpulkan bahwa pelatihan ini memberikan dampak yang baik bagi peningkatan pemahaman guru atas materi pelatihan, sehingga diharapkan bahwa guru lebih mampu memotivasi dan menolong siswa dalam belajar.
