Abstract

Institutiometric model is designed to support the education institution in optimizing its resource management, and its resource development. The number of enrollment, the number of student body, the number of graduates, the budget, and the lecturers are the proxy variables for the education resources. These basic variables are processed to become index variables, created variables, and attained variables. These variables are used to build an institutiometric model, based on a Markov chain model, as a predictive model for the educational planning. It is expected that this model can be applied for the educational planning in both private and state higher education institu-tions, or in other educational institutions.

Abstract

Competency Based Teacher Education (CBTE) was widely implemented around the 1970s to the early 1980s in Indonesia and elsewhere. Although there was no formal cancellation of this curriculum, its role seemed to fade away as other concepts of teacher education came into the field. In the last two years CBTE seems to get a new momentum to reemerge along with the launching of competency based curriculum in primary and secondary school levels. This article describes critically the responses on the sides of teacher education, towards the newly launched issue and what have been done so far in the national level in the preparation of reemergence of CBTE, especially on formulation of competencies which should be acquired by the teacher candidates in teacher education scheme.

Abstract

Science and technology have given society many advantages, despite the fact that they also create certain anxiety. Humanistic education together with religious education could protect society from the negative effects of science and technology. With humanistic education, school will produce mature generation as human beings and good citizens rather than mere robotic workers. More well planned studies on all aspects of education need to be done to achieve the intended goal.
