Abstract

This research is motivated by the large number of students' mistakes in solving trigonometry questions and aims to analyze common mistakes made by students in solving questions on trigonometry material. The type of research is descriptive research while the research method is based on literature analysis and teaching experience in the context of mathematics education. The data analysis techniques used are: data collection, data reduction, and drawing conclusions. We analyzed we analyze the results of students' work, various sources, including theses and research journals. Trigonometry is a branch of mathematics that studies the relationship between angles and sides in triangles. However, students often face difficulties in understanding and working on trigonometry problems, especially when working on questions in the form of descriptions. With a better understanding of these errors, educators are expected to be able to design more effective learning strategies to help students master trigonometry concepts well.

Abstract

Mathematics is the subject that experiences the most problems in the learning process at school and is considered the most difficult by students. This can be seen when the learning process takes place, the lack of student interest in learning mathematics. Efforts that can be made to increase interest in learning mathematics are with social media. This research aims to determine the influence of clock media on interest in learning mathematics regarding time and clocks. The type of research used was quantitative with a pre-experimental method, with a one group pretest posttest design, the sampling technique used purposive sampling by taking samples only in classes 2A and 2C with a total of 57 students. Data collection techniques include questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis test. Based on the calculation results, it can be concluded that there is an influence of clock media on students' learning interest in learning mathematics regarding clocks and time.

Abstract

This research was conducted in response to the learning obstacles identified in teaching the system of linear equations with three variables, based on the preliminary study results at SMK Negeri 1 Padaherang. This study utilized a qualitative approach with Didactical Design Research design. Findings from the study indicated that students still faced difficulties in understanding concepts, prerequisite materials, constructing mathematical models, and employing elimination and substitution methods within the subject matter. To address these issues, the researcher developed a learning trajectory with the aim of enhancing the quality of instruction. Identification of learning obstacles served as the basis for designing a Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) for the system of linear equations with three variables at the vocational school.

Abstract

In the age of differential learning today, good mathematical literacy is required. Teachers need to understand how to apply effective differential learning and how to monitor students' mathematical literacy during the learning process. This literature review aims to get an idea of how the effectiveness of learning differentiates against the mathematical literacy of students. A literature review was done by collecting various other research articles from 2020 to 2024 using Google Scholar. The author obtained 13 articles using the search keyword "differentiated learning" and 63 articles using the search term "mathematical literature". From the articles obtained through the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) method, which consists of four stages, namely identification, screening, and eligibility, and included, 11 articles were derived that match the purposes of the literature review. Based on the analysis of the review literature, the authors concluded that differentiation approaches could be integrated into learning models such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Discovery Learning, and Project Based Learning (PjBL) by considering student learning styles and needs. In differential learning, the use of learning models in the classroom has proved to have a significant impact on students' mathematical literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of learning activity and mathematics learning achievement through the discovery learning model in understanding the concept of measuring the area and circumference of squares and rectangles assisted by unit square media. This study adopts the Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology, which consists of four phases: planning, implementation of actions, observation, and reflection, which are carried out in two cycles, each consisting of two meeting sessions. The subjects in this study were 24 students from class IVB. Data collection methods include observation, giving questionnaires, tests at the end of each cycle, interviews, and documentation. The findings show a significant increase in active students, increasing from 61.79% with the criteria of "quite often active" in cycle I to 82.15% with the criteria of "very often active" in cycle II. In addition, there was a significant increase in students' mathematics learning achievement, with the average classical score increasing from 69.41% in cycle I to 85.16% in cycle II, accompanied by an increase in the percentage level of classical learning completion from 64.58% in cycle I to 89.58% in cycle II. Thus, the integration of the discovery learning model assisted by unit square media shows an increase in learning activity and mathematics learning achievement of class IVB students at SD Negeri 2 Pliken.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' mathematical numeracy skills in solving trigonometry problems among 10th-grade vocational high school students, based on their initial mathematical abilities. Students were categorized into three groups based on their initial mathematical ability: (1) high ability, (2) moderate ability, and (3) low ability. This qualitative descriptive study involved 33 students as subjects, with a sample size of 6 students. Data collection utilized test techniques, specifically using summative assessment instruments to assess initial mathematical abilities through trigonometry problems, and numeracy skills through trigonometry-related test questions. Data analysis employed a triangulation technique involving data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicated that in solving trigonometry problems: (1) Students with high mathematical ability were able to fulfill all numeracy skill indicators, evident from their accurate and sequentially correct answers. (2) Students with moderate mathematical ability could not fulfill some numeracy skill indicators, as evidenced by partially correct answers. (3) Students with low mathematical ability could only fulfill some numeracy skills; these students tended to encounter difficulties in problem-solving.In summary, the study demonstrated varying levels of numeracy skills in relation to students' initial mathematical abilities when solving trigonometry problems.

Abstract

Mathematics learning is a learning process or interaction process between teachers and students which involves developing students' thinking patterns in understanding or solving existing problems so that students are expected to be able to apply them in everyday life. Educational games are currently an appropriate alternative for media development, especially mathematics learning. On this basis, this research developed a Flippity-based educational game application in mathematics learning which is expected to help improve students' quality and abilities in learning. This type of research is development research. The research model used by this researcher is the ADDIE model. Data collection in this research used observation and questionnaire methods, while the instruments used were questionnaire sheets to obtain assessments from experts and questionnaire sheets for student response data. Flippity-based educational game learning is analyzed using descriptive analysis, namely qualitative descriptive analysis and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of this research show that the average percentage (%) given by validators is 84.5%, which is in the very feasible category, so that the Flippity-based mathematics learning media (website) is very valid and can be tested. The average percentage result (%) given by students was 93.04%, which was included in the very practical category, so the Flippity-based mathematics learning media (website) was very practical.

Abstract

A person carries out the thinking process of remembering knowledge stored in memory to be used in the future in receiving information, processing, and concluding something. In students with intellectual disabilities, the thinking process in solving geometry problems requires more guidance than regular students. The study aims to determine the thinking process of students with intellectual disabilities when solving geometry problems. The research uses a qualitative approach because the data produced is presented in a descriptive form. The research was conducted at S.L.B. (Special School) Kota Langsa. The subjects in the study were class X students with intellectual disabilities at S.L.B. Negeri Kota Langsa, as many as two students. Data collection techniques and research instruments used are tests and interviews. The data analysis in research consists of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results showed that (1) the thinking process of DZP and MR students in question number one was already at the assimilation stage (2) the thinking process of DZP and MR students in question number two was already at the accommodation stage, and (3) at this stage the thinking process of DZP and MR students in question number three was still at the disequilibrium stage.
