Abstract

The Mini Workshop “Strategies and techniques for preparing effective research proposals” was held with the aim of equipping students with a number of information on strategies and techniques in preparing good and directed research proposals, which was attended by 32 participants consisting of second to eighth semester students of the English Department, Arabic Department, and madrasah ibtida'iyah teacher education study program of UINFAS Bengkulu. The first material presented by the resource person is Dr. Ferri Susanto, M.Pd regarding material about quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods. The second presentation by the resource person Anita, M.Hum about the material on the steps of writing a research proposal. The results of this activity are that participants can understand the material that has been delivered by 2 speakers and can also apply the results they get in making research proposals.

Abstract

Based on the results of volunteering and competition activities by several students of the English language study program uin fatmawati sukarno bengkulu held during the holy month of Ramadan at the al-furqan mosque which found the results that this activity aims to complete non-formal education for children in Kebun Dahri in the event of the Ramadan Movement of Children of the Masjid al-furqan Kebun Dahri (GRAMA), then explore the potential in fostered children, and increase enthusiasm and motivation to learn. The approach method in this activity uses a direct participatory method, where members interact directly with the community in teaching. The results of this approach to volunteer activities are bringing new variations to the local community, and volunteer involvement increases togetherness among participants and increases learning motivation for children. The conclusion is that the role of volunteers is very useful for the addition of English knowledge for participants in mastering daily activity and daily conversation materials and the role of volunteers also plays an important role in building togetherness and improving social relations for the community.

Abstract

Waste is one of the environmental problems that is often ignored, even though its impact is very significant for human life and the ecosystem. The activity of installing posters with the theme of environmental cleanliness using two languages ​​(Bahasa Indonesia and English) is a real form of student contribution in creating a clean, healthy, and comfortable campus environment. The activity process includes compiling effective campaign messages, translating them into English, designing poster visuals, and placing the media at strategic points on campus, namely canteen 1 and canteen 2, multipurpose building, library, and student center. By implementing this activity, it is hoped that the environment of UIN Fatmawati Sukarno can become cleaner, healthier, and more comfortable. In addition, this project is expected to be an example of the integration between social concern and academic competence, which supports the creation of an academic culture that is not only of high quality but also environmentally friendly.

Abstract

The Digital Content Creator: Virtual Tour of Historic Sites activity is an educational initiative aimed at introducing historical sites in Bengkulu through interactive digital media. This project was carried out by university students as part of a project-based learning component in the ELT Project course, by producing four educational videos in English featuring the Bengkulu Museum and the Exile House of Bung Karno. Each video incorporates thematic vocabulary related to history and culture, serving not only as an informative medium but also as a practical English language learning tool. The activity was designed to enhance historical awareness, digital skills, and students' communication abilities, while also reaching a broader audience through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram. The process involved research, scriptwriting, on-site filming, and video editing. Evaluation results indicate that while the project ran smoothly, technical aspects such as audio-visual quality and promotional strategies need improvement to optimize the content and attract viewers. Overall, the project demonstrates that a digital-based virtual tour approach can be an innovative and effective learning tool for cultural preservation as well as for improving historical and language literacy among the younger generation

Abstract

Social media has revolutionized various sectors, including education, by serving as a powerful tool for communication and collaboration that educators can leverage for English language learning. The growing significance of English proficiency, driven by globalization and rapid technological advancements, makes its acquisition essential in Indonesia. However, students frequently encounter difficulties and disinterest due to inefficient teaching methods. This study aimed to explore the use of Instagram and TikTok as interactive platforms for English language instruction, identifying methods, strategies, and outcomes, and assessing their effectiveness and benefits. Social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok provide innovative and flexible solutions for engaging English language learning, particularly for millennials. These platforms facilitate the presentation of visual and interactive content, such as song lyric videos, conversation sketches, grammar infographics, and live Q&A sessions, thereby promoting active, immersive learning and improving English comprehension and skills. Research indicates that Instagram and TikTok have shown positive results in various educational settings, enhancing students' writing skills and enriching their technical vocabulary through authentic contexts. The use of these platforms makes the learning process more enjoyable, boosting student motivation and interest in developing their language abilities. Despite these benefits, challenges such as limited internet access, high data consumption, low digital literacy, distractions from entertainment content, and a lack of curriculum support and teaching strategies for educators persist. Therefore, it is crucial to strengthen digital infrastructure, provide digital literacy training, develop targeted strategies to maintain focus on educational content, and enhance support for teachers in effectively integrating social media into their teaching methodologies.

Abstract

The mini workshop “Learning to Design Social Activities in ELT Using The SMART Formula” was organized with the aim of improving student’s ability to design innovative and effective social activities in English language learning. This activitiesy was held on May 10,2025 at the Training Building with the duration five hours, it was attended by 22 female participants and 3 male participants were students from UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu, consisting of several study programs, including PGMI, Sharia Economics, Da’wah Management, and Arabic Language Educarion. The workshop began with the delivery of material by resource person Yashori Revola, M.Pd regarding the basic concepts of social project design and the application of the SMART formula as a planning tool that is Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time bound. Next, resource person Endang Saputra, S.Pd.I.,CT guided participants in the practice of making project designs that integrate the teories that have been learned. Participants then presented their project designs and received constructive feedback from the resource person. The result of the activity showed an increase in participants understanding and skills in designing structured and applicable ELT project. This workshop provides an interactive learning experience ans supports the development of student competencies in the context of English language learning and student organizations.

Abstract

Integrating technology into the classroom is critical to increasing student engagement and instructional effectiveness. In the current digital era, educators are required to be proficient in mastering subject matter and technological tools, such as virtual reality and augmentation (VR/AR), online learning management systems (LMS), interactive whiteboards, and educational applications, to create a dynamic educational environment. . The training program implemented in this case uses an experimental learning approach, combining theoretical material with practical sessions. Participants engage in teaching simulations, role-playing, and micro-teaching, followed by feedback and reflection. Supporting activities include group discussions, team work, and case studies. Evaluation and assessment measure participants' understanding and application of skills. The results of this training improve participants' technology skills, enabling them to use technology to improve the quality of teaching. Participants learn from experienced speakers, apply new skills in real-world settings, and develop innovative teaching strategies. This leads to higher student engagement and better learning outcomes through interactive learning materials and cooperative learning environments. So the conclusion from implementing this program is that it can improve teaching abilities with an increasingly positive impact on student learning conditions.

Abstract

This activity was carried out to provide understanding and knowledge to the general public regarding TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) through an activity in the form of a talk show entitled revealing TOEFL secrets: Effective Strategies and Tips with Experts. This activity was designed with several specific objectives, such as to help participants achieve success in the TOEFL test, provide an in-depth understanding of TOEFL, share effective study preparation strategies, practical tips and tricks, and inspire and motivate activity participants. This talk show method is carried out by asking questions directly with the resource person. The expected output targets from this activity are for participants to know what the TOEFL test is, participants to understand the types of questions tested in TOEFL, participants to understand tips and tricks for working on TOEFL test questions, and participants to be able to answer the questions tested on TOEFL and get score in accordance with the expected targets.

Abstract

This English Volunteering activity aims to improve participants' English language skills, motivation and concentration in learning English. This activity is entitled Fun English Games, which is a fun English learning activity using a games based learning model to deliver English learning material. This volunteering activity focuses on mastering vocabulary in simple sentences. This volunteering is carried out for children who live at the Panti Asuhan Bintang Terampil Foundation, which is an orphanage for underprivileged orphans and children. It is located at the Bengkulu Skilled Star Orphanage, Jalan Merapi No. 6B, Panorama Singaran Pati, Bengkulu City. Participants who take part are specifically children from the Bintan Terampil Orphanage (Elementary and Middle School). Achieving this result is an increase in participants' ability to master English vocabulary in the topic or material being taught. After this program took place, participants were able to say several vocabulary words correctly. In addition, participants understand how to write simple sentences correctly and can speak well. Participants are also felt happy and did not feel awkward when participating in all the fun English activities.

Abstract

In today's increasingly globalized world, competition for higher education is increasingly intense, with many students aspiring to study at prestigious institutions at home and abroad. Selection scholarships play an important role in this process, as they offer financial support to talented students who lack financial means. Therefore, a seminar was held with the aim that students can better master TOEFL and IELTS for the success of the scholarship selection process they will face and with the hope that it can support the readiness of students as participants in seminar activities. This seminar covers effective study techniques, exam strategies, and resources, emphasizing the importance of English language skills in achieving academic and career success globally. The result of carrying out this activity was that the participants felt more understanding and confident in the preparations they had made. Apart from that, interest in taking part in scholarships for students has increased much more, so that this seminar activity can be successful in providing more knowledge to students.
