Abstract

The ability to write scientifically becomes one of the most important skills that academic college students must have. However, there are still many college students who find it difficult to write science articles systematically and in accordance with publication standards. The purpose of this study was to analyze the role of seminars on writing skills in science writing skills for students' skills through qualitative methods through in-depth interviews The research information consisted of students who participated in the seminar. The participants of this seminar activity amounted to 52 students. The results of the interviews showed that the seminar implemented had a positive effect on students' understanding of the structure of scientific journal writing, techniques for logical discussion, and increased motivation to write. In addition, participants were more confident and understood the ethics of scientific publications post-Seminar. Therefore, the seminar is considered to be an effective alternative learning strategy to develop students' scientific writing skills.

Abstract

The training program titled "Smart Strategies for TOEFL: Sukses Menaklukkan Setiap Section" was conducted to enhance the understanding and preparedness of students in facing the TOEFL test. This activity was designed to provide comprehensive insight into the exam format, question types, and effective strategies for each section of the test, including Listening, Structure and Written Expression, and Reading. The training was carried out through material presentations, interactive discussions, and practice sessions accompanied by in-depth explanations. Participants were equipped with practical techniques aimed at improving efficiency and accuracy in answering questions. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding of TOEFL structure, as well as a boost in their confidence in taking the test. This training is expected to support participants in achieving TOEFL scores that meet graduation standards and assist in preparing for further studies or entering the workforce.

Abstract

In the digital transformation era, social media has become a potential medium to support educational processes, especially in foreign language learning. TikTok, as a short-form video platform, offers an engaging, interactive, and accessible approach to learning. The “Fun English Learning with TikTok” project was a digital content development initiative by students of the English Education Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu. The objective was to increase learners’ interest and motivation in studying English through short educational videos on TikTok. This activity employed a qualitative descriptive method with a participatory approach, where students were directly involved in producing and publishing content. A total of six videos were uploaded over the course of two months. The evaluation results indicated that the content reached more than 2,000 viewers and received positive audience feedback. These findings suggest that TikTok can serve as an effective alternative medium for English learning beyond the formal classroom.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop and analyze how digital content for learning English for everyday life. Learning materials like this are intended to be used to teach basic English in everyday life. Technology in education is very important, especially in language learning, in today's digital era. Students can learn English in a more interesting, flexible, and easy-to-understand way by using videos and applications such as Tiktok. This study utilizes a qualitative case study on the audience. The results show that digital content can increase students' desire to learn, help them expand their vocabulary, and help them understand English terms that are commonly used every day. Students also feel more confident when speaking English in the real world. It is possible anytime and anywhere, learning becomes more flexible. This study found that digital content is very helpful in learning basic English and can be a relevant, interesting, and modern learning method. Thus, digital content can be an effective and fun way to improve basic English communication skills.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of animation videos on the understanding of second-semester engineering students in physics concepts. The method used is a pre-test and post-test design with an experimental group, where 30 students took the pre-test before and the post-test after receiving animation video-based learning. The test consisted of 10 multiple-choice questions, each worth 10 points. The results show that the majority of students experienced a significant increase in scores between the pre-test and post-test, with post-test scores being higher after using animation videos. The use of animation videos proved to be effective in helping students understand complex and abstract physics concepts, such as Newton's laws and energy. However, there were two students whose scores did not show significant improvement, indicating that individual factors should be considered when implementing this learning media.

Abstract

The Merdeka Learning Campus Community Service Program (KKN MBKM) at SMPN 25 Bengkulu City aims to improve the digital competence of teachers and students through the implementation of e-learning platforms such as Canva, ChatGPT, Quizziz, and CapCut. This program uses a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach that emphasizes the active participation of participants in all stages of the activity. The series of activities included an infographic-making workshop for teachers, training on the use of ChatGPT and Quizziz in developing teaching materials and evaluations, and creative classes for students in making digital videos and posters. Finally, a poster design competition with the theme “Save Our Earth” was held for students in grades VII and VIII. Evaluation results showed significant improvements in digital skills, creativity, and teacher and student confidence in creating technology-based learning content. The findings support that technology-based participatory training can shape a more innovative and flexible learning culture.

Abstract

Emotional regulation is essential for mental well-being, given the negative impact of unmanaged emotions. Although contemporary psychology is effective, the spiritual dimension is often overlooked. In Sufism, dhikr is a central practice of tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul) that calms the heart through a relationship with Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala. This study aims to explain dhikr as a method of emotional regulation from the perspective of Sufi psychology. This research is a qualitative study using a literature review method. Data were collected by reviewing various relevant primary and secondary sources, such as scientific journals, books, and other publications relevant to the research topic. The collected data were then analyzed using content analysis to identify and synthesize key findings. Findings indicate that emotional regulation in Sufism involves the harmonization of the Nafs (self), Qalb (heart), and Aql (intellect) through tazkiyatun nafs. Various studies confirm that dhikr is effective in reducing anxiety, stress, and negative thoughts, as well as increasing inner peace, spirituality, and emotional control. Dhikr functions as a comprehensive Islamic psychotherapy, facilitating the attainment of nafs al-muthmainnah (the tranquil soul) for the sake of psychological stability and inner peace.

Abstract

English Fun Day for Home” is a community service programme initiated by students of the English Education Study Programme of UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu, focusing on volunteer-based English teaching. This activity aimed to enhance the interest and self-confidence of children at the HOME Children Center Bengkulu in learning and using English through fun and interactive approaches. The program was carried out over three sessions, featuring student presenters and supported by a team of volunteers. The methods included educational games, songs, and creative activities. Evaluation showed high enthusiasm among participants, despite challenges such as a decrease in volunteer attendance and limited coordination among the organizing committee. Nevertheless, the program successfully created a positive and supportive learning environment, offering valuable experiences for both children and student facilitators. It is hoped that similar activities can continue to be implemented in the future to support basic English literacy and strengthen the relationship between the college and the surrounding community.

Abstract

This study describes the implementation of the Fun English Learning volunteering program which is part of the assignment in the ELT Project course and a form of social service at SDN 83 Teluk Sepang, Bengkulu City. The aim of the program is to increase students' interest in learning, improve their English skills, and provide a fun and interactive learning experience, especially in areas with limited access. The method used was descriptive qualitative and analyzed Kolb's experiential learning cycle, including concrete experience, observational reflection, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation. The results show that a communicative teaching approach that focuses on students' active participation can increase their motivation and confidence in using English, especially in speaking and listening. Students were actively engaged, and some who were previously less active became more confident. Despite challenges such as limited facilities and differences in students' abilities, adjusting strategies such as dividing students into small groups and using simple media proved effective. Overall, this activity had a positive impact not only on the students, but also offered valuable experience for the volunteers in developing their teaching skills and understanding of the local culture.

Abstract

Thesis writing is one of the important stages in completing the study at the undergraduate level (S1), not a few students experience obstacles in the preparation of thesis proposals, both from a technical, mental, and academic perspective, the workshop "Writing and Simulation Thesis Proposal" is held to provide systematic academic debriefing and practical simulations in preparing proposals. The purpose of organizing this workshop is to make it easier for students to write and prepare thesis. This activity uses qualitative descriptive approach methods and direct practice. The end result of this activity is to encourage students to start drafting thesis titles early, The activity also includes active question-and-answer sessions that reveal various student confusions related to the structure and substance of the proposal. So in conclusion, students not only get a conceptual understanding, but also real practice in compiling a proposal framework, this activity is very relevant to be implemented sustainably in the university environment as an effort to support the timely completion of studies.
