Abstract

The increasing demand for skilled workers in the industry encourages vocational higher education institutions to align their curricula with real-world practices. One way to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry needs is through the implementation of the Teaching Factory (TEFA) model. This study presents the development of a comprehensive Teaching Factory model within vocational higher education. The research employed primary data collection methods, including Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and interviews, to explore the insights and experiences of stakeholders involved in the development of TEFA. The results provide a framework for integrating industry requirements and academic competencies to enhance the competitiveness of graduates from vocational education institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the challenges of preparing an adaptive vocational curriculum in the Society 5.0 era by analyzing trends in subject areas, researcher productivity, publication years, and countries, using Scopus-indexed data processed with VOSViewer. Results indicate that publications on “Vocational and Education” accumulated 279 citations from 1994 to 2024, with the peak number of publications occurring in 2019 at 29 articles. The United States leads in the number of published articles, while the most productive researchers are Mulder R. H. and Nurtanto, M., each contributing three publications. Title trend analysis reveals three clusters of ongoing research interests, including education, training, curriculum, teaching, learning, engineering, ethics, professional education, universities, and program evaluation. The main challenge in developing an adaptive vocational curriculum for Society 5.0 is fostering collaboration between government, industry, and educational institutions through the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) approach, alongside integrating digital technology effectively into vocational learning processes.

Abstract

Entrepreneurs utilize Business Model Canvas planning to design a business with 9 parts that bring value to customers and are sustainable.  Encourage and explore students' inventiveness when teaching Business Model Canvas planning.  Jigsaw is one learning strategy.  Small groups discuss the instructor's subjects after receiving a brief theoretical orientation on the Business Model Canvas teaching material in the jigsaw learning approach.  Compared to typical learning approaches, how effective is this jigsaw method for Business Model Canvas teaching?  Two groups of junior teachers and students, classes A and B, receive experimental methods to evaluate the jigsaw learning method using a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods.  A questionnaire is presented to each group after therapy.  Each group was given a closed questionnaire with a 1-5 linkert scale to assess learning and understanding following the treatment.  Therefore, non-parametric statistical calculations show that learning Business Model Canvas with the jigsaw learning model works.  A Chi Square (X2) of 17.674 > table (X2) with a confidence level of 1% accepts the alternative hypothesis (Ha), proving that the Jigsaw learning model is better at learning Business Model Canvas material.  It would be better to investigate and improve the Jigsaw learning model for strategic concepts and explanations in social science teaching materials rather than formula computations.

Abstract

Law No. 6/2014 on Villages provides autonomy to villages to manage resources and direct development through the establishment of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) as drivers of local economic development. BUMDes is expected to be a platform for community economic activities through professional management while still being based on the village's original potential. The challenge lies not only in establishing BUMDes, but also in maintaining its existence. The high number of BUMDes formed in each village has increased competition among BUMDes, as well as with other business sectors. In reality, many BUMDes have not been able to contribute significantly to village revenues. In the face of such competition, BUMDes need to adopt competitive advantage strategies, one of which is through the application of creative economy concepts. This change is also in line with Presidential Regulation No. 69/2019 that merges the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Creative Economy in the Onward Indonesia Cabinet. Although previously, in 2014, a Creative Economy Agency was established, the tourism portion remains more dominant compared to the creative economy, as seen in the data from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. This article uses a literature review approach to investigate the causes and impacts of the paradigm shift in BUMDes management. With reference sources derived from research articles. The literature review used is sourced from articles available on google scholar within the period 2014-2024. The researcher conducted a literature review to answer research questions involving the concepts of creative economy, village-owned enterprises and BUMDes. It was found that the creative economy plays a role in the sustainability of BUMDes. This study concludes that the application of creative economy concepts plays an important role in supporting the sustainability of BUMDes.

Abstract

Japan Internship Program is an initiative designed to provide international internship experience to Culinary Arts students. This study aims to analyze the competencies and impacts gained by participants. Japan Internship Program in the field of Culinary Arts, and explores differences in response results based on gender. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, this study involved 31 respondents selected through a questionnaire technique. Purposive sampling the research instrument consisted of 30 statements measured on a 5-point Likert scale. The analysis showed that the average competency and impact of participants were in the 'fair' category, with the majority of respondents achieving the 'good' category. Although the program successfully improved technical and cross-cultural skills, some participants still faced challenges in reaching their full potential, influenced by factors such as previous experience and company support. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of adequate supervision and curriculum relevance, as well as the need for ongoing support for participants. This study recommends further study to explore gender dynamics and more effective strategies to overcome obstacles faced by participants, to improve the effectiveness of international internship programs in the future.

Abstract

Global food security is a major challenge due to population growth, climate change and limited natural resources. Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies offer innovative solutions to address these issues by improving efficiency and productivity in the agricultural sector. This article reviews the contribution of AI in supporting food security through applications such as yield prediction, crop health monitoring, water management, and food waste reduction. Several studies demonstrate the use of AI in precision agriculture, which optimizes resource use through real-time data analysis from IoT sensors, satellite imagery, and drones. Innovations such as AI-based automated irrigation systems and smart farming apps help farmers manage water use more efficiently, especially in areas at risk of drought. In addition, the application of AI in vertical farming enables precise environmental control, increasing productivity in urban areas with limited land. The study also highlights the role of AI in reducing reliance on chemical pesticides through early detection systems that enable timely intervention. Despite the potential, the adoption of AI technology in agriculture still faces challenges such as initial investment costs and training needs for farmers. Collaboration between the government, private sector, and research institutions is essential to ensure effective and sustainable implementation of AI in agriculture, so that global food security can be achieved
