Abstract

This research aims to improve motivation and student learning outcomes in applying of the inquiry approach through Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model. This research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consist of three meetings. The subject were student of class XII of SMK NU Tenggarang Bondowoso academic year 2016/2017. The research data obtained through observation and tests. The results showed an increase in student motivation in every aspect with details on aspects of attention by 73.16% in the first cycle to 92.53% in the second cycle, the relevance aspect of 79.20% in the first cycle to 95.07% in the second cycle, the aspect of confidence of 73.70% in the first cycle became 89.40% in the second cycle, and on aspects of satisfaction of 72.69% in the first cycle to 91.43% in the second cycle. Completeness of classical study showed increase of 72 % in the first cycle, and 92 % in the second cycle. Similarly affective learning results obtained during the learning process also increased the percentage is 64 % in the first cycle and 84 % in the second cycle. And learning process also showed increase of 92,22% in the first cycle, and 95,66% in the second cycle. Thus these results indicate that the inquiry approach through TPS learning model can improve motivation and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine differences in critical thinking ability and conceptual understanding between students taught with guided inquiry learning combined with metacognition training and students taught with guided inquiry learning without metacognition training. This study used quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. This study used a purposive sampling which produced two classes, namely class XI MIA 3 as the experimental class and XI MIA 4 as the control class. The students in the experiment class were taught with guided inquiry learning combined with metacognition training, while the students in the control class were taught with guided inquiry learning without metacognition training. The instrument used to measure the success of this research was multiple choice questions with written explanation. Multiple choice questions were used to measure conceptual understanding while essay questions were used to measure critical thinking ability. The results showed that: (1) The improved critical thinking ability could be seen from the mean of N-Gain of the experimental class 0,76, higher than the control class 0,55; (2) The improved conceptual understanding could be seen from the mean of N-Gain of the experimental class 0,66, higher than the control class 0,54. So we can conclude that the guided inquiry learning combined with metacognition training has enhanced students' critical thinking ability and conceptual understanding.

Abstract

The learning materials of evolutionary in biology for students of class XII IPA SMAN I Glenmore Banyuwangi is still in obstacles. The materials in textbooks based on School Based of Curriculum (KTSP), while teachers should teach the scientific approach which refers to curriculum of 2013. The requirement analysis of evolutionary teachers stated that 86% of teachers requires learning modules for students. The analysis of the mastery learning of students in the last three years of study showed that the level of student mastery of less than 35%. The purpose of this research is to develop modules of evolution for students with scientific approach using model Think, Talk, Write in SMAN I Glenmore Banyuwangi. The module was developed based on the model of the research and development of Dick & Carey (2001), which consists of nine stages of development. The validation results of learning experts showed very valid category with the percentage of votes 90.77% to the syllabus and 91.04% to RPP. The validation results of study design experts showed very valid category with the percentage of votes 98.57% to the module. The validation results of material experts showed a valid category with the percentage of votes 82.33% to the module for students. The validation results by implementing learning practitioners in the field showed very valid category with the percentage of votes 100% to the syllabus, 93.08% to RPP, and 97.25% to module for students. The test results by the legibility of small groups of students showed very valid category with the percentage of votes by 86.78%. to modul. Based on the validation results, we can conclude that the evolution module with the scientific approach using Think, Talk, Write models earmarked for students is valid and is expected to meet the limitations on teaching materials that are already available.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the error made by the low achievement students in completing the operation of adding and subtracting integers as well as scaffolding to help studenst correct thire errors. Researchers gave 7 items about integer arithmetic operations to 20 students of class VIII. The errors contained in the low achievement student worksheets were then analyzed and used as the basis for on-to-one scaffolding. The results showed that the pattern of students' error in completing the operation of adding and subtracting integers is that they neglect the minus sign in the negative numbers. Scaffolding to help the low ability students improve their knowledge and fix their errors in completing the the operation of adding and subtracting integers are the level 2 (Reviewing and Restructuring), and level 3 (Making Connection) scaffolding.

Abstract

This research aims at developing line follower analog media for robotic system engineering in SMKN 2 Singosari. The development was refered to modified model suggested by Sugiyono. The results of this development are in the form of modul, jobsheet, and trainer for robotic system engineering. The product was validated by content expertise I from Electrical Engineering Lecturer and obtained 92,06% of validity result. While the valifity result given the content expertise II from Robotic System Engineering teacher obtained 92,77%. In terms of media validity, the product obtained 94,81% from Electrical Engineering Lecturer and 94,02% from Robotic System Engineering Teacher. The product was also tested in XII Graders of Industry Electronics Engineering in SMKN 2 Singosari and obtained 88,20%. Thus, the media developed in the form of modul, jobsheet, and trainer of Robotic System Engineering within this study is considered as appropriate for XII Graders of Industry Electronics Engineering in SMKN 2 Singosari.
