Abstract

The phenomenon of a decline in moral quality in the younger generation is an issue that often arises in the last few decades, including students. So, we need a solution that is able to answer the challenges of these troubling problems. One solution that can be offered is to hold a mentoring program for them.This study aims to identify the impact of the mentoring program in the process of forming Islamic character in Sriwijaya University students. The subjects used in this study were muslim students of who were active in the mentoring program with an age range of 18-23 years. This study uses a descriptive approach with data collection methods, interviews, observations, and discussions. This study shows that students experience changes in behavior and the formation of Islamic character. For students who are diligent in participating in mentoring programs on regularly. The islamic characters that are formed are the characters of iman, taqwa, respect and courtesy, caring, patience, humility (tawadhu), trust and also honesty.

Abstract

Indonesia continues to participate in Trends in International Mathematics and Science Studies (TIMSS) to increase understanding of academic performance in mathematics and science. This study aims to examine the determinants of the mathematics achievement of fourth-grade students in Indonesia from student-level variables and school-level variables. Two-level hierarchical linear modeling was used to analyze data of 4025 students from 230 schools in Indonesia who had participated in the TIMSS 2015 study. The result indicated schools resource shortage has a negative direct effect on mathematics performance, while literacy and numeracy skill when the student enters the school has a positive direct effect. In student level, home resources, parents' education, self-efficacy and students' interest in mathematics have a positive direct effect. The model also revealed a cross-level interaction between school level and student level. It is the economic background of student in one school that had a moderating effect on home resource toward mathematics performance. Variance explained from students and school levels were 17% and 44%, whereas total variance explained were 28%. The results were sizeable to make some recommendation for policy consideration which social economic background and affective characteristics of students are the main determinants of mathematics performance among Indonesian Students.

Abstract

Caregiving may be a burden to the Psychological Health (PH) of mothers of children with Cerebral Palsy (CP). However, little attention is given to psychotherapeutic intervention in managing mothers caring for such children in Nigeria. This study, therefore, investigated the efficacy of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) among mothers of children with CP accessing therapeutic outpatient services at Federal Psychiatric Hospital (FPH) Lagos, Nigeria. This research follows a quasi-experimental type with pre-test, post-test plans, and control group. Accordingly, 30 people were selected through volunteered sampling among mothers of children with CP accessing therapeutic outpatient services at child/adolescent unit of Federal Psychiatric Hospital. Then, they were randomly placed into two groups of 20 (experimental and control) each and evaluated using research tools. Research tools consisted of Acceptance and Action Questionnaire (AAQ-II) and Cerebral Palsy Psychological Health Scale (CPPHS) whose reliability and validity have been confirmed in previous studies. Research data were analysed using the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The statistical analysis confirmed the difference in the components of psychological health and acceptance level/psychological flexibility in the experimental group, which had received acceptance and commitment therapy compared to the group that had not received any therapy in this regard (control group) (p<.05). The ACT had significant effect on Psychological Health {F (1.36) =7.94} after controlling for severity of illness and parental knowledge. Participants in experimental group improved in their Psychological Health when compared with those in control group {t(38) = 3.20}. Acceptance level/ psychological flexibility of the mothers improved after intervention with a decrease in pretest mean score (= 31.60) to posttest mean score (= 24.10). Abstract

This study examines empathy as a mediator of the dark triad personality, social support, and demographic factors on cyberbullying behavior in SMAN 10 Depok students. The study was conducted on 428 students of SMAN 10 with purposive sampling technique. The measuring tools used in this study are Tudkuea's Cyberbullying Scale, The Short Dark Triad (SD3), The Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI), and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). Data analysis using Path Analyze with MPlus 7.4 software. Based on the results of the analysis of the research data, a fit model was found so that it can be concluded that the theoretical model of Empathy as a mediator of the influence of dark triad personality, social support & demographic factors on cyberbullying behavior fits with empirical data. This means that Empathy acts as a mediator of the influence of dark triad personality, social support & demographic factors on cyberbullying behavior. Then the results of research data analysis related to direct influence reported that there was a significant effect of Machiavellianism and gender directly on cyberbullying, while narcissism, psychopathy, family support, peers support, and significant others had no significant effect on cyberbullying. In addition, the results of the hypothesis test also reported that there was a direct significant effect of narcissism, peers support and gender on Empathy, while there was no significant effect of psychopathic machiavellianism, family support and significant other (teachers) directly on Empathy.

Abstract

This research aims to find the effect of emotion regulation with strategies like cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression toward family functioning in young married couples in Indonesia. The General Functioning of The Family Assessment Device and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire were completed by married young adults aged between 18-25 years old. Multiple regression was used for data analysis. Results showed that emotion regulation significantly influences family functioning in married emerging adulthood. Furthermore, the partial measurement of cognitive reappraisal emotion regulation towards family functioning in a marital relationship in emerging adulthood showed a significant negative influence. Meanwhile, expressive suppression of emotion regulation predicts higher family functioning in married emerging adults. This study also showed that most respondents have healthy family functioning and use cognitive reappraisal in emotional regulation strategies for both genders. Furthermore, demographic data also showed the highest percentage using of expressive suppression among men than women. This research illustrates that individuals could achieve healthy family functioning during the age period of emerging adulthood. In addition, in the context of marital relationships among individuals in the emerging adulthood age period, there are also more adaptive emotion regulation strategies, the use of cognitive reappraisal emotional regulation strategies are better used by married emerging adults for better healthy family functioning in the family.

Abstract

The UNESCO ranking (2016) and BAN S/M accreditation data show that the quality of Indonesian education is still low, and this is triggered by the quality of its teachers. It is predictable that approximately 1500 schools and 70 thousand teachers owned by Perguruan Alkhairaat in Palu, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, also play an important role in the education process, especially in Central and Eastern Indonesia. The study aims to prove the influence of work motivation and psychological well-being on the performance of teacher at Perguruan Alkhairaat. This study uses a quantitative approach with 210 teachers. The sampling technique used is a non-probability sampling technique, namely accidental sampling. The teacher’s performance measurement tool uses the Teacher’s Job Performance Self-Rating Questionnaire (TJPSQ) developed by Amin et al. (2013), the work motivation measurement tool uses The Motivation for Teaching Scale developed by Abos et al. (2018), while the psychological measurement tool well-being using Psychological Well-Being Scales (PWBS) developed by Ryff (1989). The result of the research significance value is .000 (P < .05) meaning there is a significant influence between work motivation and psychological well-being on the performance of teacher at Perguruan Alkhairaat. The results of the regression analysis test showed that R Square .282 or 28.2% showed the large influence of work motivation and psychological well-being on the teacher performance at Perguruan Alkhairaat.

Abstract

Based on data obtained in 2016, it is known that at PT. X, the number of employees who made a turnover or changed jobs was 40 people or the equivalent of 25% of the total 135 employees at PT. X. Employees who have a high level of perception of organizational support will show high commitment and will not look for alternative jobs or have the desire to move out. As a result of previous research, perceived organizational support is one factor that reduces turnover intensity. This study recruited participants using a purposive sampling technique in which 55 men agreed to be participants. The analysis showcases a negative relationship between perceived organizational support and turnover intensity. The higher the perceived level of organizational support, the lower the turnover intensity behavior. Another finding is there is a 12.5% effect of perceived organizational support on turnover intention, which means that perceived organizational support is one of the main factors that directly affect turnover intention. This finding can be another evidence that perceived organizational support significantly affects turnover intention.

Abstract

The Long COVID-19 Syndrome affected the lives of college students on lockdown for almost two years (2020-202), is the focus of this paper. Specifically, this study examined their stress, anxiety, depression levels, and psychosocial factors (socioeconomic status, adverse childhood experiences, and perceived social support) were related to these mental health issues. The impact of the Long COVID-19 on the students’ well- being and their coping mechanisms were explored. Using a cross- sectional survey research design, 600 students from different areas in Mindanao (southern islands of the Philippines) participated in this study. Results showed that the majority of the respondents reported no stress (78%), no anxiety (38%), and no depression (44.80%) during the lockdown. Moreover, a significant positive relationship appeared between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and levels of stress (p <0.001), anxiety (p <0.001), and depression (p <0.001). These findings suggest that adverse childhood experiences increase and the risk of other mental health issues increases. Results also suggest a significant negative relationship between perceived social support and levels of stress (p <0.05) and depression (p <0.05). The intersection of learning in higher education and mental health suggests the correlates of stress, ACE, and anxiety.

Abstract

Good psychological well-being is characterized by individuals who have positive emotions and can go through difficult times that cause negative emotions to emerge. Data obtained from Riskesdas (Riset Kesehatan Dasar), in 2007 about 11.6% of the Indonesian population aged over 15 years showed emotional mental disorders characterized by symptoms of depression and anxiety. Then in 2018 the prevalence of emotional mental disorders again increased to around 9.8% (Idaiani & Isfandari, 2020). One of the factors that influence it is social support that comes from friends. Support from friends is not always positive, but also negative. Negative friends are referred to as toxic friends, namely friendships that are detrimental. The aims of this study are, (1) to describe the level of psychological well-being of Islamic University Students, (2) to describe the level of toxic relationships that occur in the circle of friends of Islamic University Students, and (3) to analyze the effect of toxic relationships on psychological well-being. to students of Islamic University Students. The method used for this research is simple regression. With a population of 11,000 people and a sample of 265 students aged 18-22 years. The results of this study are, (1) the level of psychological well-being in Islamic University Students is dominated by the very high category as many as 155 students with a percentage of 58.5%, (2) the level of toxic relationship among Islamic University Students is dominated by the low category as much as 140 students with a percentage of 52.8%, (3) there is an influence between variables toxic relationships and psychological well-being with effect level of 11.4%. Although it does not have a big influence, it is important for us to control a healthy friendship environment to maintain psychological well-being in ourselves.

Abstract

The majority of Indonesia's startup companies failed during the early phase of the company. One factor contributing to this failure is the lack of Innovation brought up by the company. Human resource in the company plays an important role in fostering Innovation. Studies showed employee innovative work behavior is the main factor that drives company innovation. This research aims to construct Innovative Behavior at Work scale that is reliable, valid, have good items and norms for score interpretation purposes. The research subjects were an employee who works in a startup company. The result showed that the scale has high internal consistency, valid, and the items discriminate individual capabilities. The norm used in this scale is within group norms with a standard score of M=10 and SD=3.
