Abstract

Generation Z values inclusive and supportive workplaces but often exhibits high turnover intention. This study examines how transformational and servant leadership influence turnover intention among Gen Z employees in Indonesia, with caring and self-interest ethical climates as mediators. A cross-sectional survey of 314 Gen Z employees was analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). Results show that caring ethical climate did not significantly relate to turnover intention or mediate the leadership–turnover link. In contrast, self-interest ethical climate showed a strong positive relationship with turnover intention and served as a significant mediator. These findings indicate that servant leadership is more effective than transformational leadership in reducing Gen Z turnover intention by diminishing self-interest ethical climate, while caring ethical climate may have limited relevance across generations.

Abstract

Effective work performance is driven by motivation, emotional regulation, and the ability to build social relationships, which collectively influence professional outcomes. Quantitative electroencephalography (qEEG) offers an objective measure of brain activity related to these factors, providing insights into the neural mechanisms underlying workplace behavior.  This study is an exploratory pilot investigation of associations between quantitative EEG (qEEG) parameters at left DLPFC (Fp1) and workplace-relevant functions (emotional regulation, motivation, social relations) assessed with selected MMPI-180 subscales. Brain activity was recorded at the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (Fp1), focusing on Theta, Alpha, and Beta power. Data were collected from 68 employees in Indonesia over two months and analyzed using linear regression in SPSS 23. Results showed that Beta power at Fp1 significantly predicted emotional regulation (B = 6.85, p = .04, R² = 6.4%), Alpha power at Fp1 predicted motivation (B = 6.02, p = .048, R² = 5.8%), and Theta power at Fp1 predicted social relationship skills (B = 14.15, p = .006, R² = 16.3%). These findings provide empirical evidence that specific brainwave activities are linked to different aspects of workplace performance. The contribution of this study lies in demonstrating the applicability of qEEG as an objective tool to evaluate employee performance, offering new insights for neuroscience-based organizational interventions in the Indonesian context.

Abstract

The high levels of stress and the use of maladaptive coping mechanisms, including alcohol consumption among students, indicate the need for efforts to understand protective factors that can strengthen psychological resilience. One factor that potentially plays a significant role is father involvement in young adult life. This study aims to explore the relationship between father involvement and three indicators of student mental health: perceived stress levels, adaptive coping strategies, and maladaptive coping through alcohol consumption. This research uses a quantitative approach with an exploratory correlational design. A total of 267 college students in Jakarta participated as respondents by filling out a self-report questionnaire. The measurement tools used in this study are the Father Involvement Scale, the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), the Coping Stress Scale, and the Drinking Motive Questionnaire-Revised (DMQR). The analysis was conducted to identify patterns of relationships between variables without assuming a cause-and-effect relationship. The research findings indicate that father involvement is negatively correlated with stress levels and coping through alcohol consumption and positively correlated with adaptive coping strategies. Moreover, elevated stress levels correlate positively with the utilisation of alcohol as a coping strategy. This finding confirms that fatherly involvement plays an important role as a protective factor against stress and maladaptive coping behaviours in college students. As an exploratory study, these results provide a foundation for further research to test a deeper causal model related to the role of family support on students' mental health.

Abstract

Amid unstable funding and high rates of business failure, Indonesia’s start-up ecosystem increasingly depends on employees’ innovative work behavior. Yet, the psychological mechanisms that drive such behavior remain underexplored in start-up-focused research. This study aims to examine the direct and indirect relationships between subjective well-being, job insecurity, and transformational leadership on innovative work behavior among start-up employees in Indonesia. A quantitative cross-sectional design was employed, involving 421 start-up employees. Data analysis was performed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with a disjoint two-stage approach to address the hierarchical construct structure. The results indicate that job insecurity does not have a direct effect on innovative work behavior, whereas transformational leadership shows a significant direct effect. Additionally, subjective well-being serves as a mediator in the relationship between both job insecurity and transformational leadership with innovative work behavior. However, transformational leadership does not moderate the relationship between job insecurity and innovative work behavior. The findings suggest that organizations should develop policies or interventions that strengthen subjective well-being and transformational leadership as strategic efforts to enhance innovative work behavior among employees in start-up environments.

Abstract

The demand for mental health supports for students in the educational system is growing. As a distinct Islamic educational institution where students stay full-time in one community, Pondok Pesantren needs to provide supportive environment for students since their home life is separate and less supportive. Differences in background and adaptability can result in some students experiencing difficulties, feeling anxious, afraid, uncomfortable, isolated, and even deciding to move. It is essential to know the mental health condition of the students to identify early warning signs of mental health problems. The purpose of this study is to analyze the mental health of students in Pondok Pesantren Darunnajah, factors contributing to their mental health, and their coping methods in maintaining mental health. It used mixed method design, combining The Strength and Difficulties Questionnaires (SDQ Goodman) for quantitative data and interviews for qualitative insights. The questionnaire was conducted to 160 students, age 12-18 years old, using stratified sampling based on gender and class. 16 students and teachers were selected using purposeful sampling techniques and interviewed. The research found that the majority of student (79.4%) were classified as normal, 19.4% borderline, and 1.3% needing assistance. Peer problems had the lowest average value (2.46). Male students are higher on hyperactivity (5.39), while emotional difficulties are more common in female (4.40). There are five factors contributing the mental health; students’ adaptability, social skill, family support, teacher support, and religious belief. They maintained their mental health by having friends, enjoying lives and activities in Pondok Pesantren, also by enhancing religious beliefs and performing religious activities. The findings highlight the importance of providing psychological supports based on gender and class as well as integrating religious belief and social supports in promoting mental health within Pondok Pesantren.

Abstract

Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms in the world, especially among teenagers and young adults, allowing users to share visual content and interact socially online (Ting, 2014). As the psychological and behavioral impacts of Instagram use increase, it is important to assess not only its frequency, but also the behavior and emotional responses that accompany it through valid and reliable measurement tools such as the Instagram Usage, Behavior, and Emotional Reactions Questionnaire (IUBERQ) (Paramboukis et al., 2016). This study aims to evaluate the psychometric characteristics of the Indonesian version of the Instagram Usage, Behavior, and Emotional Reactions Questionnaire (IUBERQ) instrument using the Rasch Rating Scale model approach. The population in this study were Muslim women who wear the hijab. The characteristics of the population used were female students of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta aged 17-25 years. Respondents actively use Instagram social media accounts. The selection of this age is in accordance with the developmental stages from late adolescence to early adulthood to Hurlock (1999). The sample in this study amounted to 335 people. The results of the analysis using the Rasch Rating Scale Model show that the psychometric characteristics of the IUBERQ in the Indonesian version have a good level of precision and good item suitability to the model. These findings support the use of IUBERQ as a reliable instrument in measuring aspects of Instagram use. Theoretical and practical implications and recommendations for further research are also discussed
