Abstract

Abstract

Symptoms of conservatism, exclusivism, and extremism in religious expression in Indonesia seem to have strengthened since the Reformation era. These symptoms come to the surface through the acts of intolerance towards different people and groups, both within the religion itself and with other religions. In fact, not infrequently these acts are in the form of extreme violence which is included in the category of terrorism. The state has actually tried to overcome the impact of these worrying phenomena, but the results are still not optimal. This article tries to contribute the ideas to overcome this situation through education, especially religious education. In religious education, which is a compulsory subject in schools from basic to highest education, it is necessary to provide introduction to other religions, especially religions in Indonesia. This material introduction can be given to students in class XI or XII, assuming that they are mature enough to accept differences. In addition, in this internet era, religious education needs to be delivered in creative and innovative ways so that this subject is attractive to students.

This article intends to examine how the concept of integration-interconnection as a formula in overcoming the skeptical secularism out of the rationalism and empiricism. The Islamization of science that was initiated by Ismasil Raji al-Faruqi is a response from the secularism indication that have spread among Muslims, both at the economic, political, cultural and scientific levels. The spread of this concept within Muslims create malaism , which only accept all things what comes from the Western. Whereas Islam as a science religion has its own characteristics that are based on the principles of  Qur'an and the Sunnah. The Contradiction of This epistemological is that Muslims should be able to rise up and resist the oppression carried out by Western with their secular concept. By using the library  method, this research seeks to find the answer of knowledge problems accepted by Muslims by processing data sources, both primary and secondary sources. The primary source is the original work of Ismail Raji al-Faruqi, while the most important source of sekunder is in the form of supporting data related to this research. The data processing is expected to solve the problems in Muslims understanding with scientific integration-interconnection concept. These integration-interconnection have become a very important basis for finding two opposing scientific poles, that is Islamic and  secular in nature.

Abstract

Fathul Qorib is the main reference for Islamic law studies in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools (Pesantren) because this book has a historical scientific heritage from the classical period of Islam. Indonesian Pesantrens have different characteristics in reading and learning Fathul Qorib based on conditions that develop and occur in the surrounding area. This paper uses the observation method by observing and interviewing students, ustadz/teachers, and kiai to trace patterns of knowledge transmission. The object of this research is Pesantren YAPINK and Attaqwa located in Bekasi district with two different types of Pesantren in terms of religious ideological background and the early history of the establishment of the Islamic boarding school. From the results of the research conducted, the reading of Fathul Qorib at the Pesantren YAPINK and Attaqwa has similarities and differences. The transmission of knowledge at YAPINK comes from internal and external sources because the teachers of the Fathul Qorib are graduated of YAPINK and other Pesantren such as Ploso Kediri and Sarang, while Attaqwa comes from internal-only because all Fathul Qorib teachers are from Attaqwa graduated.

Abstract

The main concern of the author in this study is to examine the word khabīth which is found in various verses in the Qur’an. In studying the word, the author uses syntagmatic and paradigmatic analysis contained in the semantic theory by Toshihiko Izutsu. This research uses the type of library research. The type of research in terms of the implementation perspective in this research is descriptive research. This is an attempt to describe the object of study that is studied in depth. The main question to be answered in this research is how is the world view of the Qur’an towards the word Khabīth from a semantic perspective? The findings in this study indicate that the word Khabīth has the basic meaning of an evil. But based on syntagmatic and paradigmatic analysis, these basic meanings become various meanings, each of which has a relationship or relation. Another finding in this study is that the meaning of the word Khabīth has “shifted without losing basic meaning” since pre-Islam and after the revelation of Qur’an.

Abstract

This paper discusses multiculturalism as a crucial concept to counter extremism. The perspective used is the Islamic perspective, with the thesis that diversity is a necessity of God, so that Islam, through the Qur’an, guides human beings regarding ways of living with multicultural principles. At the same time, while some circles want a monocultural order, which is manifested by the proliferation of extremism in the name of Islam, it is as if in the Qur’an there are two contradictory teachings about plurality and how to respond to it. Based on the studies that have been carried out, this paper finds that multiculturalism is a moral-ideal of the Qur'an, while extremism is an ideological doctrine based on the interpretation of the Qur'an itself. Thus, deep multiculturalism can become a counter-narrative of extremism.

Abstract

Gender equality and justice has placed women in thoughts, behaviors, and decisions that are no longer limited by the patriarchal system. However, in the midst of women’s efforts to build justice, instead of fighting for and upholding the role of women, the phenomenon of disputes and interactions between women themselves is increasingly striking and so prevalent on social media and the reality of life in modern Indonesia. This unbalanced relationship then has an impact as happened in Gender-Based Violence (KBG). No doubt, this action is the same as reinforcing injustice to women. Therefore, this study aims to determine the forms of injustice perpetrated by the same sex, especially women against women based on the five social experiences of women and KBG. This study uses descriptive-qualitative methods and data collection techniques through questionnaires and literature study. Data obtained from the results of questionnaires filled out by 54 respondents taken by purposive sampling technique. While the data analysis techniques in this study are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and verification. The results of the study indicate that violence against women has the potential to be carried out by fellow women. In addition, the forms of violence that are often experienced by women from female KBG perpetrators are psychological violence, in the form of: body shaming, talkative in the form of belittling and demeaning in terms of education, work, and married life. Meanwhile, in terms of five social experiences, women are more likely to receive stigmatization, subordination and marginalization.

Abstract

This article discusses the concept of love as a rare harmonization in conflicts between major world religions. The emergence of conflict is sometimes indicated by a certain ideology, power, and social-religious. The purpose of this research is to understand, respond to, and provide solutions to any conflicts that have occurred in the world’s major religions. In this study, using a qualitative research method with a descriptive analysis style using literature review techniques and using a historical review approach to explain descriptive analysis in discussing conflicts between the world’s major religions. What’s interesting about this article is that it offers the concept of love as taught in every religion. If without being based on love in realizing peace, it will be difficult to meet in deliberations, and greet one another. By taking the path of love, humans can create a harmonious life, a peaceful life without any disputes between other religious communities. So that with the diversity of people’s colors, religions, races, ethnicities, and cultures, we should be able to react wisely. Tolerance and mutual respect between fellow citizens must be upheld.
