Abstract

Abstract¾Sandwich panel in ship construction necessitates identification for the core material. Non-metal cores of sandwich materials were identifiedin this study for polyurethane foam, polyresin, and synthetic resin. This material identification was conducted through experiments using Det Norske Veritas (DNV) standard tests. The experiments conducted were reactivity test, density test, and tensile test. Results of the investigation show that the core material suitable for the sandwich panel is synthetic resin with composition of 50% resin,50% talc and 0.3% catalyst. The density of the material is 1,728 kg/m3, tensile strength is 24.75 Mpa, modulus of elastisity is 546.95 Mpa, and shear modulus is 273.48 Mpa.

Abstract

Weld overlay is one of veneering method that do by welding on the base metal, so there is wear resistant, additional layer and corrosion resistant. Vibration load that work continue on engine block causing worn out on the components that be in the engine block, one of which occurs on both sides of the main cap that directly intersect to the engine block, however it needed an appropriate repair method that is weld overlay method that giving additional layer and wear resistant. This research is using filler ERNi-CI dan ERNiFe-CI on weld overlay method GTAW with current variation on main cap that made from nodular cast iron. Trials that did is conducted metallography and hardeness. The observation result of metallography show that micro structure in HAZ area and base metal contain more ferrite on the lower current. The more heat input however the more it decreasing hardeness value on weld metal and fusion line. This is caused by the more heat input, however cooling that happens become slow. The hardeness value of welding filler ERNiFe-CI is more high than the hardeness value of welding filler ERNi-CI effect of influence the numbers of nickel composition on the filler.

Abstract

Falling Weight Deflectometer, FWD, is the most popular equipment used to measure the deflection of  flexible pavement in Indonesia. The loading used during application of the FWD equipment generally correlates directly with those of the loads of standard heavy vehicles. Therefore, the resulted pavement deflections obtained from the tests should be also suitable for highways traversed by standard normal vehicles only. This may not be the case for highways in Indonesia, where most trucks are highly overloaded, so much beyond the allowable standard loads. The existing method of FWD test may not be representative anymore to measure the actual pavement deflections under highly overloaded vehicles. In this paper, the authors describe their findings about deflections of flexible pavement when the pavements were subjected by heavily overloaded vehicles. The first step is to modify the FWD equipment with larger falling distances and heavier loads to simulate the highly overloaded vehicles in Indonesia. Based on the results and by using statistical approach, a new mathematical equation can be derived to reflect the functions of actual pavement deflections under much higher loads when compared to those of standard normal load. Therefore, using this new equation one can predict the actual pavement deflection under highly overloaded vehicles, by just performing standard FWD test of standard loads on the pavement, so that the design of overlay thickness can be modified accordingly to be applicable to overloaded traffic in Indonesia.

Abstract

Map projection is required for modeling the earth from sphere into flat form. Out of so many types of projection systems, Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) is the most common map projection system used in Indonesia. The concept of Mercator projection system is to maintain the angle but cause distortion on the area and distance. This will become problem if it is used for calculating an area that require minimum distortion, especially on a large scale. This study aims to find out the effect of the projection system for any scale to the area, and find out the best projections system in Indonesia. In this paper, the area was calculated using 72 projection systems with various scale using MATLAB software. The reference area that considered true was the polygon area of an ellipsoid so the difference between area of ellipsoid and projection can be known. The projection systems that give minimum distortion are the most optimum result. Based on the study, the most suitable projection system for calculating the area with minimal distortion is Collignon for 1: 250,000 scale and 1: 50,000, Eckert II projection system for 1: 25,000 scale and Equal-area Conic Albers Standard projection system for scale 1: 5,000.

Abstract

Drinking water is human essential need. However, there are so many contaminants contained in drinking water sources. One of the solutions to overcome this issue is using technology to produce clean drinking water which called mineral water. Mineral water industries come to understand that maintaining quality is the fundamental principle to increase sales. One of the mineral water industries in Indonesia is company X. Yet it does not have a thorough management and supervision method to control the product quality. The quality management and supervision method is used only on several aspects of production and after acquiring customer complaints. This emerges the need of company x to form an applicable, comprehensive, and standardized management system. To produce high-quality mineral water, company X can apply HACCP method. HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) is a system used for measuring risks and determine the control system that focused on prevention. There are five primary principles in HACCP method. Accordingly from this analysis, maintaining the unit performance, adding more detailed SOPs, and employee knowledge enhancement are the main focused of HACCP method in company X. Therefore, HACCP is a suitable method to monitor company X production system and increase the product quality

Abstract

Sentence is a form of human communication which is closely related to language system. Sentence is one of the recursive structures that are often found in daily conversation. Learning syntactic structure is useful to explore the meaning of the sentence contained on it or translated it into another language such as machine language. The problem is meaning, ambiguity, and the language that is not according to the rules of syntax, causing the command translation become more complex. This research is about parsing Indonesian syntax based on natural language rules for applications in the field of human-machine interaction. Each word that is a part of the sentence, is mapped into vector-space model. To estimate the potential connection of two words, we use the recursive neural network. The potential connection of two words translated into a higher structure to obtain a complete sentence structure. We obtain 93% accuracy, with 50 data-set are given in the learning process to represent a hundred vocabularies.
