The kind ofthis research is descriptive analytic by using study cross sectional. Method of collecting samplesusing total sampling and total of samples got are 35 respondents. Data was analyzed by chi-squareand the result of statistical test shows point p=0.000. Ha is accepted if Ho is rejected in which Ho isrejected if the point is p ≤ α, 0,000 ≤ 0,05. The result of the statistic analysis is that there is significantcorrelation between adaptive modes: self concept based on Callista Roy’s theory and socialinteraction abilities to mental retardation children on SLB-C TPA at Jember Regency. OR (26.00),that means the respondents who had a positive self concept have 26.00 possibility to be had a goodsocial interaction abilities. The result of the research is positive self concept with good socialinteraction ability about 80%. Suggests for nursing in community to involve and increase their rolemodel as educator and care giver in attempt to share information by doing a counseling. Keywords: self concept, social interaction, mental retardation

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that needs a sustainable self-care. Low-level knowledgeof self-care can worsen health condition and cause stress. DSME/S is an ongoing process tofacilitate knowledge, skill, and abilities required to perform self-care. This research aimed to analyzethe effect of DSME/S on stress in patients with type 2 DM. The design was quasi-experimental withrandomized control group pretest-posttest design. The sample size was 30 respondents which wererandomly divided into 15 respondents as the intervention group and 15 respondents as the controlgroup. DSME/S was conducted once per week for 6 weeks with 150 minutes for each encounter. The measurement of stress was measured by using Diabetes Distress Scale (DDS). The data wereanalyzed by using dependent t test and independent t test with significance level of 0.05. The resultof dependent t test revealed a significant difference of stress between pretest and posttest both inthe intervention group (p = 0.000) and in the control group (p = 0.000). Furthermore, independent ttest showed a significant difference between intervention group and control group (p = 0.001) sothat there was a significant effect of DSME/S on stress in patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Keywords : stress, DSME/S, diabetes mellitus

DSME/Sis one of education which facilitates knowledge, skills, patient abilities, and family support in self-care.DSME/S is given in the form of discharge planning to improve knowledge and skills in self-care. Thisresearch aimed to analyze the effect of Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSME/S) onquality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in RSD dr. Soebandi. The research design wasquasi experimental with pre-test post-test with control group design. A number of samples were 30 peopledivided into two groups: 15 people in the treatment group and 15 people in the control group. DSME/Swas conducted in 6 sessions. Sessions 1-4 were performed in the hospital and sessions 5-6 wereperformed at the patient’s home. The data were analyzed by using dependent t test and independent ttest which significance level of 0.05. The result of t-dependent test indicated that there was significantdifferent quality of life between pre-test and post-test in the treatment group (p = 0.001) and control group(p = 0.002). The result of Independent t test showed a significant difference between treatment group andcontrol group (p = 0.001). The enhancement of quality of life on the treatment group was greater than thecontrol group. The conclusion showed that there was significant effect of DSME/S on the quality of life oftype 2 DM patients. Abstract

Major beta thalassemia patients with iron overload will have increase on ferritin levels. Free iron can cause damage in several organs including kidney. One of parameter used to investigate the function of kidney is BUN and creatinine. This study was aimed to determine the correlation between ferritin levels and BUN-creatinine levels of major beta thalassemia patients at dr. Soebandi Hospital Jember. This is an analytical observational study with cross sectional study design, using 15 patients of thalassemia at the Paediatrics Department of dr. Soebandi Hospital Jember who met inclusion criteria. The data was obtained from medical records or patients report book. Data was analyzed with Shapiro Wilk normality test and Spearman correlation test. The mean of ferritin levels was 3.145±57,99 ng/mL, BUN levels was 8,87±1,18 mg/dL, and creatinine levels was 0,53±0,24 mg/dL. The Spearman correlation test for the correlation between ferritin levels and BUN levels showed r=0,073 and p=0,795 and the correlation between ferritin levels and creatinine levels resulted r=0,173 and p=0,537. In conclusion, there was no correlation between ferritin levels and BUN-creatinine levels of major beta thalassemia patients at the dr. Soebandi hospital Jember. Abstract

Hyperlipidemia is heterogeneous disorder that characterized by elevated levels of total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL), very low density lipoprotein (VLDL), triglyceride, and decreased levels of high density lipoprotein (HDL). The aim of this study was to determine the ability of methanol extract of leaves of Arcangelisia flava to decrease total cholesterol and triglyceride in some variations of dosage. Five groups experimental animal (each consisting of 4 rats) which have been induced by high fat and fructose diet for 45 days, followed by oral treatment of extract at a dose of 250 mg/kg BW, 500 mg/kg BW, 750 mg/kg BW, simvastatin 0.36 mg/200 g BW (control (+)), and CMC Na 1% (control (-)) for 7 days. The blood was taken on day 8, then was measured the total cholesterol and triglyceride. The test results showed that extract could decrease total cholesterol and triglyceride in line with increasing doses. According to ANOVA, there are significant differences between treatment groups (p
