Abstract

This study discusses typology of Islamic education philosophy derived from educational discourses in the classical Islamic philosophy. While existing construction of the philosophy of Islamic education is still heavily influenced by the Western philosophy, the current study investigates philosophical views of Islamic education from several philosophers in classical Islam. This research focuses on the question of human essence to discover the nature and purpose of Islamic education. The investigation of educational ideas is conducted on the branches of classical Islamic philosophy namely, Peripatetic philosophy (Ibn Sina), Herme- neutic-Pythagorean philosophy (Ikhwan al-Shafa), Illumination philosophy (Suhrawardi), Theosophy-Transcendent philosophy (Mulla Sadra). This study shows four typologies of Islamic studies philosophy, namely: Rationalism (Ibn Sina), Religious-Rationalism (Ikhwan al-Shafa), Enlightenment-Spiritualism (Suhrawardi), and Substantive-Spiritualism (Mulla Sadra)

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to investigate socio-political factors that make certain legal opinions (fatwās) in a Muslim context become authoritative and powerful. Although these legal opinion are not binding in a principle, their supporting agents engender a degree of their efficacy and authoritativeness. They are followed and abided when external factors, either the state or society, politically or voluntarily support the implementation of those fatwās. These external factors of fatwā are largely understudied, especially in the light of how fatwā gains its authoritativeness and power to attract people to follow and comply with fatwā rulings. By studying controversial fatwās of MUI (Indonesian Ulama Council), namely on the banning of Ahmadiyyah and the prohibition of secularism, pluralism, and liberalism in religion of Islam. this article sheds a light more comprehensively on the relationship between fatwā and external factors that make this non-legal binding opinion powerful and authoritative.

Abstract

This paper wants to describes the contribution of al-Anbari's thought in the interpretation of the verses of the Koran, this is inseparable from al-Anbari's expertise not in the field of interpretation but linguists. The main source of this research is the work of al-Anbari entitled "al-Adhdad" while the secondary source is the work of al-Anbari in other fields and the work of others that are related to the research theme. The results showed that al-Anbari as a nahwu Kufah expert had different thoughts from other Kufah scholars both in the fields of syntax and morfology. His thinking in the problem of syntax and morfology seems to have a significant contribution in providing an understanding of the verses of the Koran, especially the verses in which the word at-tadhad is used. The contribution of his thoughts can be understood from his interpretation of the use of letters, idioms, verbs, name of subject, name of object, circumstance, and derivations in the Koran.

Abstract

Abstract

This paper attempts to trace Muhammadiyah's new fiqh reasoning in Islamic legal discourse, and its probability to become a holistic legal paradigm. In the leadership of Syamsul Anwar, Muhammadiyah through Majelis Tarjih introduced the idea of a new fiqh concept which is considered to be different from the classical fiqh concept. This fiqh reasoning has produced many tarjih products, such as Fiqh Air (Water Jurisprudence), Fikih Kebencanaan (Disaster Jurisprudence), etc. On the basis of that considerations, this paper wants to answer some crucial questions; First, how exactly is Muhammadiyah's new fiqh reasoning and what is the difference between classical fiqh concept?; Second, where is the position of Muhammadiyah's new fiqh reasoning in the perspective of contemporary Islamic law studies that are developing, especially in the West ?; and Third, as a concept that produces ijtihad products, then there is a probability of Muhammadiyah's fiqh reasoning can become a new paradigm of Islamic law. The question is, how far is the probability?
