Constructing mathematical conjectures involves individuals’ unique and complex cognitive processes in which have not yet fully understood. The cognitive processes refer to any of the mental functions assumed to be involved in the acquisition, storage, interpretation, manipulation, transformation, and the use of knowledge. Understanding of these cognitive processes may assist individuals in constructing mathematical conjectures. This study aimed to describe the differences in students’ cognitive processes in constructing mathematical conjecture which is based on their mathematical ability and gender through a qualitative exploratory research study. The research subjects consisted of six mathematics students of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, the representative of high, medium, and low mathematical ability and either genders, male and female, respectively. The data of cognitive processes were collected by task-based interviews and were analyzed qualitatively. The differences in students’ cognitive processes in constructing mathematical conjectures were grouped into five distinct stages, namely understanding the problem, exploring the problem, formulating the conjecture, justifying the conjecture, and proving the conjecture. The results show that there were several differences in the students’ cognitive processes in constructing mathematical conjectures in the previously mentioned stages.

Personality is considered one of the internal factors that have an impact on students’ ability in language learning. The present study investigated the impact of personality types on their ability in writing English. There are two types of personalities studied: Extrovert and Introvert. The research is quasi-experiment. Students at grade XI Vocational School 1 Sungai Penuh engage in the study, whereas only two classes selected as samples (experimental class and control class). Students were given a personality questionnaire to recognize their personality types. Then, the writing test carries out in each class in order to know the student's ability in writing. The data are analyzed by using t-test. The finding of hypotheses testing proves that the p-score is 0,00. Thus, the p-score is lower than 0,05 (0,00<0,05) which means H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Hence, there is a significant impact on students’ personalities to their writing ability. Students with introvert personalities have better writing scores than students with extrovert personality.

Reading comprehension plays a vital role in students' academic achievement. This empirical study aims to determine the influence of survey, question, read, recite, and review (SQ3R) method on reading comprehension ability. The impact of mediation on semantic and phonological working memory toward reading comprehension ability after being given the SQ3R method. The empirical study was Quasi-experimental with untreated control group design with dependent pretest and posttest samples. The total participants are 57 students in elementary school. Thirty of the subjects were selected based on colored progressive matrices and reading comprehension measurement in equal. In this case, 15 students as treatment groups and 15 students as a control group. Backward digit span task was used to measure phonological working memory, sentence completion, responsibility for semantic working memory, and reading comprehension test for reading comprehension ability. Causal analysis technique by SPSS MACRO PROCESS was used to examine the hypothesis of the research. The results revealed that there was an influence SQ3R method toward reading comprehension ability. Semantic working memory and phonological working memory are mediate between SQ3R and reading comprehension, but the mediating effect of semantic working memory is more reliable than phonological working memory. This research indicated that the effectivity of the SQ3R method to improve reading comprehension was mediated by working memory capacity in Bajo’s children.

The purpose of this study was to describe the classification of students' reasoning abilities in solving mathematical problems in elementary schools. The focus of this study is the classification of students' reasoning abilities in solving mathematical problems in the elementary schools of the city of Semarang. This study uses a qualitative approach. The Research subject is elementary school students at Tambakrejo Elementary School Semarang. Data is taken using tests. Based on data analysis, the reasoning classification is as follows: 36.25% understand the meaning in low categories, 37.5% think logically in low categories, 31.1% understand negative examples in low categories, 17.05% think deductions in very low category, 18.15% think systematically in very low categories, 31.65% think consistently in low category, 34.85% make excuses and determine strategies in low category, 49.85% determine method in low category, and 24.3% draw conclusions in low category. Thus the reasoning ability of students is low, students have not been able to think logically to make connections between empirical facts and the problems faced so they are not able to draw conclusions, students have not been able to do the thinking process to make arguments so that new statements are based on facts, it is necessary to develop learning models to improve mathematical reasoning of elementary school students

The Synchronous online argumentation system is highly needed to facilitate learning activity in this internet era. To gain deeper insights about this important issue, this study developed nine principles based on Cognitive Load, User Interface, and User Experience to redesign a system. With this framework, 48 (forty-eight) students of Chi-Ying High School had tested with two prototypes, and the second prototype used the nine principles. The systems were measured with Web-Based Learning Environment (WEBLEI) and System Usability Test (SUS). The result of WEBLEI measurement shows that the second prototype gives better result and shows higher user acceptance than the first prototype. The result of SUS measurement shows that the usability of the second prototype is better than on the first prototype with (4.43) SUS score difference. The result shows that the use of nine principles that applied to the second prototype does increase the usability and acceptance of the students.
