Abstract

Depending on the condition of vulnerability, disasters bring about different consequences to different households. Using the Sustainable Livelihood (SLA) framework, the research carried out in the earthquake-prone area of Bantul-Yogyakarta results in three conclusions. First, the wealthiest suffer the least because of their capabilities of reducing the impact of earthquake disaster by fortifying their houses and by improving their livelihood assets. Second, despite their sufferings, the poor tend to be more able to reduce the impact of future disaster event to their livelihoods, thanks to the strong social capital which had minimized the cost of housing reconstruction. Third, it is the self-suffiient group which is most prone to the disaster event. This is due their wealth had been eroded by overwhelming cost of house reconstruction and their inabilities to reduce labor cost.

Abstract

Contemporary cuisine still becomes a culinary destination that is loved by millennials. The generation which is connected with the use of social media often uploads every social activity, including culinary. Posting pictures before eating on social media becomes an activity that is usually done by millennials before enjoying culinary. This study aims to determine the motives of the Ponorogo millennial generation in the act of posting before eating when they enjoy a culinary dish. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. Interview, observation, and documentation triangulation techniques are used to collect data from 20 informants who actively use social media to post before eating. The results showed that the motives of the millennial generation to take pictures before eating are as a means to share fun or hobbies, share information about current culinary recommendations, and show self-existence.Kuliner kekinian masih menjadi tujuan kuliner yang digandrungi oleh generasi milenial. Generasi yang dalam kehidupannya erat dengan penggunaan media sosial ini sering kali mengunggah setiap aktivitas sosialnya termasuk dalam hal kuliner. Membagikan gambar yang hendak dimakan ke media sosial menjadi suatu aktivitas yang biasa dilakukan oleh generasi milenial sebelum menikmati sajian kuliner. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui motif generasi milenial Ponorogo dalam melakukan tindakan posting before eating ketika akanmenikmati sajian kuliner kekinian. Metode penelitian yang digunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Teknik triangulasi yaitu wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dari 20 orang informan yang aktif menggunakan media sosial untuk melakukan tindakan posting before eating. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motif generasi milenial melakukan tindakan posting before eating antara lain sebagai sarana untuk menyalurkan kesenangan atau hobi, membagikan informasi tentang rekomendasi tempat kuliner kekinian dan menunjukkan eksistensi diri.

Abstract

2004 Indian ocean earthquake and tsunami changed Aceh society significantly in particular political, social and culture system. Just before the tsunami hit Aceh, Islamic law was vigorously implemented by the Govermentof Aceh. After the tsunami, the dynamic of Islamic law in Aceh changed. The aim of this research is to envisage Banda Aceh city residents’ response of Islamic law rule and implementation after 2004 Indian ocean earth quake and tsunami. Data were collected qualitatively by applying observation and interiew method. Participants of this research were sellected purposively. The results showed that the new leadership post-tsunami Aceh gives the impression of anelitist that caused various negative reactions and responses from the public. Most people think that the new administration is less concerned and lessserious in implementing Islamic law holistically. A pragmatic attitude towards the rules of Islamic law emerged in some communities, especially the younger generation. Therefore, for some open-minded and crtical people, the implemen tation of Islamic law is seen deteriorating as Islamic law is often only becomes an attribute and a tool of legitimacy to the ruling elite. Therefore, it is necessary to revitalize Islamic law at both the elite and the people level, for example by doing a cultural movement. This movement aims to rebuild the spirit enforce Sharia Law  which are cultural, not a political and elitist.Key words : Islam Sharia, elite and society responsePeristiwa tsunami merupakan momentum besar bagi perubahan masyarakat Aceh. Tsunami disebut sebagai cikal bakal per damaian antara Gerakan Aceh Merdeka (GAM) dengan pemerintah Republik Indonesia (RI). Dalam per janjian damai disepakati bahwa anggota GAM diberi kan kebebasan menjadi warga sipil kembali, artinya GAM diberikan hak politik penuh sebagai warga Negara Indonesia. Kesepakatan damai juga memberikan ruang bagi anggota GAM untuk berpartisipasi dalam politik praktis. Hal itu terbukti dengan peralihan kepemimpinan pasca Tsunami ke tangan mantan anggota GAM. Perubahan kepemimpinan dan sistem politik ini membawa pengaruh pada dinamika penerapan syariat Islam yang baru disahkan menjadi peraturan daerah Aceh beberapa tahun sebelum Tsunami. Implementasi syariat Islam sesaat sebelum Tsunami sedang sangat gencar diterapkan oleh pemerintah, sehingga perubahan sistem politik ber dampak pada dinamika sosial budaya masyarakat Aceh. Kepemimpinan Aceh yang baru pasca Tsunami memberikan kesan elitis, yang kemudian menimbulkan berbagai reaksi dan respon dari masyarakat. Sebagian masya rakat menganggap pemerintahan yang baru kurang peduli dan kurang serius dalam menerapkan syariat Islam secara kaffah. Sikap pragmatis terhadap perda syariat Islam muncul di sebagian masyarakat, terutama generasi mud, sehingga bagi sebagian kelompok masyarakat yang kritis, menganggap bahwa implementasi syariat Islam semakin merosot. Syariat Islam sering kali hanya menjadi atribut dan alat legitimasi bagi elit yang berkuasa, bahkan terkesan dipolitisasi. Oleh karena itu, perlu adanya revitalisasi syariat Islam baik di tingkat elit maupun masyarakat.Gerakan kultural merupakan salah satu alternatif yang perlu dibentuk untuk membangun kembali semangat menjalankan syariat Islam yang bersifat kultural, bukan politis dan elitis

Abstract

The relationship between masculine and feminine is collectively constructed. Both narrative and discourse of feminism has long emerged up to the third-wave. As Foucault has been pointed out that feminism itself has constructed discourse on inequality since it departs from patriarchy. Meanwhile, patriarchy has produced a threat even though it is under the pretext of feminism. The term postfeminism is thus arises after feminism, where there are no sources of oppression that originate from patriarchy.In fact, however, the interpretation of religious arguments (Islam in particular) does not subordinate women. But on the contrary, the religious argument actually wants to make women equal to men in the society. This article offers an analysis of the relation between Islam and postfeminism based on the perspective of religious commodification. It was noted that social media played a pivotal role in raising religion to engage on a global scale.Women from the perspective of postfeminism are seen as independent subjects. Freedom, gender equality, and pluralistic representation are the starting points for postfeminist women. Soft Power owned by social media contextualizes religion (Islam) and disseminates ideas including femininity in a new method, where the religious consumption can be enjoyed every second.Indonesian (Muslim) women campaign for gender equality and postfeminism awareness that is free in all things through social media (Instagram and YouTube). This is usually done in various ways such as lectures and fashion. Religious commodification, in this case is seen when religious understanding is capitalized. This perspective finally bringing Muslim women to say that "I am beautiful for myself". Although some argue that capitalizing religion appear to be less precise, when the commodification of religion can support women's freedom.

Abstract

One of women empowerment strategies in Bantul regency is realized through supporting the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM).One success UKM is Batik Berkah Lestari, located in the hamlet of Karangkulon, Wukirsari Village, District Imogiri, Bantul. This study tends to determine the role of Berkah Lestari groupin empowering women in Karangkulon. This study uses the theory of AGIL (adaptation, goal attainment, integration, latency) of Talcott Parsons. Data are collected through: observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the Berkah Lestari is able to contribute to women in Karangkulon through four things: adaptation, members of the group can customize the group rules and the changing environment; achievement of objectives, activities Berkah Lestari focus to achieve common prosperity, not a personal interest; integration, open communication between members and administrators make Berkah Lestari can survive and exist up to now; maintenance pattern, promoting a sense of kinship among the members of Berkah Lestari so that members feel comfortable and far from conflct. The results are clearly seen from three aspects: the economic aspects, namely increasing women’s income compare toprevious occupation before joining the Berkah Lestari; political aspect, in which women of Karangkulon managed to form a group of batik to fiht for their interests withoutbeing inferior when talking to visitors of Berkah Lestari; socio-cultural aspects, where women are considered equal to men because they can perform multiple roles, as a good housewife as well as helping the family’s income. In empowering women, Berkah Lestari relied heavily on trust, openness, and sense of family relation among its members. However, there are some barriers faced by the Berkah Lestari,such as: marketing is still limited to a conventional way (word of mouth), online marketing is not optimally used as a result of the lack of training on the developmentof batik and how to use internet.

Abstract

In the practice of the Indonesian presidential system, the presidential elections held after the legislative elections do not strengthen the presidential system, checks and balances mechanism  between the government and the People’s Representative Council have not run according to the mandate of the constitution yet. By using hermeneutic and verstehen approaches, as well as political sociology perspective, this paper considers that strengthen checks and balances mechanism between the government and People’s Representative Council is by carrying out regional and national simultaneous elections. The merging of legislative elections (People’s Representative Council and Regional representative Council) and presidential elections at national level also merging legislative and executive elections at  regional level have several functions:  first, the merging will result an effective and efficient governance in running the government; second, an easier and lighter electoral unification model, both for organizers in preparing stages of elections or for voters in channeling their voting rights; third, political issues that are programmed by candidate pairs and legislative candidates will be more focused and directed so that the public is clearer in determining their political choices. Dalam praktik sistem presidensial Indonesia, pemilu presiden yang diselenggarakan setelah pemilu legislatif tidak memperkuat sistem presidensial, mekanisme saling mengawasi (checks and balances) antara pemerintah dan DPR belum berjalan sesuai konstitusi. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan hermeneutik dan verstehen serta perspektif sosiologi politik dan kelembagaan, tulisan ini memandang bahwa memperkuat checks and balances antara pemerintah dan parlemen melalui penyelenggaraan pemilu serentak nasional dan lokal. Penggabungan pemilu legislatif (DPR dan DPD) dan pemilu presiden pada level nasional serta penggabungan pemilu legislatif (DPRD Provinsi dan DPRD kabupaten/kota) dan eksekutif (gubernur, bupati, walikota) pada level daerah menjadi pilihan; pertama, penyatuan tersebut akan menghasilkan pemerintahan yang efektif dan efisien dalam menjalankan kekuasaannya; kedua, model penyatuan level pemilu lebih mudah dan ringan, baik bagi penyelenggara dalam menyiapkan tahapan maupun bagi pemilih dalam menyalurkan hak pilihnya; ketiga, isu politik yang diprogramkan pasangan calon maupun calon legislatif akan lebih fokus dan terarah sehingga masyarakat lebih jelas dalam menentukan pilihan politiknya.

Abstract

Pesantren is an institution where its leadership is based on the descendants of the founders. However, with the development of the era, pondok pesantren has begun to experience system changes such as bureaucracy in it. This pesantren bureaucratization have an impact on the authority of kyai in which the leadership based on descendants turns into a certain qualification. The existence of pesantren bureaucratization does not eliminate the traditional authority. This is because in this bureaucracy there are some family members who have a certain position, so that between the traditional and legal authority are still applied in the modern pesantren. The combination of traditional authority and legal authority has become a demand for the survival of pesantren. The existence of traditional authority is due to the culture that exists in society, while legal authority has become a necessity of the development of the era.Pesantren merupakan lembaga di mana kepemimpinannya berdasarkan keturunan dari pendiri. Namun dengan adanya perkembangan zaman, pondok pesantren sudah mulai mengalami perubahan sistem di dalamnya dengan adanya birokrasi di pesantren. Birokratisasi pesantren ini tentunya berdampak pada otoritas kyai di mana kepemimpinan berdasarakan keturunan berubah menjadi kualifikasi tertentu. Adanya birokratisasi pesantren tidak menghilangkan otoritas tradisional yang ada. Hal ini dikarenakan di dalam birokrasi tersebut terdapat beberapa anggota keluarga yang menjabati posisi tertentu, sehingga antara otoritas tradisional dan legal tetap berlaku di dalam pondok pesantren modern. Gabungan antara otoritas tradisional dan otoritas legal sudah menjadi tuntutan untuk keberlangsungan hidup pesantren. Adanya otoritas tradisional disebabkan budaya yang ada di masyarakat, sementara otoritas legal sudah menjadi kebutuhan dari perkembangan zaman.Keywords: pesantren, heredity, bureaucracy and authority

Abstract

This article explains the variety and the struggle of thoughts among sociologist in interpretating social reality. They have been trying to provide an interpretatiobn about the social reality. Negotia­tions to fid the truth of knowledge of social reality have been constanly going on without a satisfying agreement. Just like a business, it seems that someone who possesses an authority has bequeathed (his assets) as a capital for the survival of sociology market.

Abstract

Hijrah yang berarti pindah saat ini menjadi role mode baru dalam masyarakat. Hijrah saat ini sering diartikan sebagai proses berpindah dari perilaku yang belum sesuai dengan syariat ke perilaku yang sesuai dengan syariat yang mana hal itu saat ini banyak dilakukan oleh para artis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah hijrah yang dilakukan para artis termasuk dalam komodifikasi agama? dan bagaimana masyarakat memaknai hijrah yang oleh dilakukan para artis? Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan melakukan observasi terhadap bagaimana artis tampil di berbagai media sosial setelah mereka berhijrah. Selain itu penulis melakukan observasi di masyarakat dan wawancara terhadap beberapa orang untuk melihat apakah hijrah yang dilakukan para artis memiliki dampak di masyarakat atau tidak. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori agen struktur dan agenda setting untuk mengetahui pengaruh terhadap dua hal tersebut. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu hijrah yang dilakukan para artis menjadi komodifikasi baru dengan menjadikan agama sebagai sesuatu yang diperjual-belikan. Selain itu masyarakat menganggap bahwa hijrahnya para artis dimaknai sebagai trend yang baru berkembang, untuk melakukan gimmick di media, cara untuk menaikkan popularitas, dan dimaknai sebagai sarana membuat sensasi.Kata kunci: Hijrah, Artis, Komodifikasi
